Up and Coming

Chapter 15

I climbed out of the pool, water dripping off of my shoulders, and headed for the hot tub. I cranked the jets, and climbed down the stairs, into the hot water.

"Wow. You have big muscles." Avia remarked, coming to join me in the hot tub.

I grinned, and nodded.

"It comes from being a hockey player." I told her.

She nodded, and Emmi came into the hot tub too.

I grabbed my towel, and wiped the sweat off of my face as I positioned the jet aimed at my tailbone.

"I need a massage." I remarked, and made a mental note to get one before the game tomorrow.

"Let's go in the deep pool." Emmi suggested, and we all climbed out of the hot tub, and into the deep, cold pool.

I gasped for breath at first, but calmed down after a few seconds.

"It's actually kind of nice." I remarked, pushing away from the side of the pool.

I looked at the clock on the wall by the door, and saw that it was 10 PM in Minnesota, 8 in LA.

"Wow. It's late for you girls." I said, laughing at the annoyed look on Emmi's face.

I flexed my biceps, and felt a slight burn.

"Hmm. That's unusual." I remarked, staring at my arm, where the pain had vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.

"What?" Avia questioned, and I waved it off.

"Nothing." I lied.

I began to swim laps, doing the breast stroke, and the twinge came back. It was more painful now.

I cursed under my breath, making sure Avia and Emmi didn't hear, and grabbed my arm, rubbing gently on the bicep. The pain seemed to go away, and I began swimming again.

The door opened, and Dustin Brown came into the pool room.

"Hey! Dusty!" I called, and he smiled, diving into the pool to talk to me.

We met in the middle of the pool, and I told him about my arm.

"Huh. Tell the staff about it tomorrow, and get it looked at." He looked worried. "That's not a promising start to the season.
