Up and Coming
Chapter 16
I sighed, as I rolled into my bed, and grabbed the remote for the TV.
"Now let's take a look at some highlights and scores from the NHLs first 2 days in action." Said the sportscaster, as they began to play highlights. "Toronto beat the hometown Montreal Canadiens in the season opener, the final score was 5-4 there. Next was the Washington Capitals at the Chicago Blackhawks, and the defending Stanley Cup champs were defeated 3-2 in that matchup."
"Wow." I said, turning the volume up.
"The Winnipeg Jets smoked the Edmonton Oilers in their home opener this season, the final score there being 5-2." The caster continued.
"Wow. We're playing those guys in 2 days." I told Emmi and Avia.
"Day 2 of the season brought more good matchups, with the Philadelphia Flyers beating the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 4-1. Later that day, Detroit beat Buffalo, and Anaheim snuck out of Colorado with a win. Now let's take a look at some highlights!"
I turned the TV off.
"Darn. Those guys are our rivals." I remarked, thinking about Anaheim.
"Can we watch a movie?" Avia asked.
"Sure." I said. "Just make sure to turn off the TV and lights when you're done. I'm going to bed."
I turned off my bedside light, and tossed the remote to the girls.
"Night." I said, and I closed my eyes.
I was out like a light.
