Up and Coming

Chapter 3

The plane pulled into the long line of about 5 or 6 other planes waiting for the runway.

"Hey guys." I said to the camera I was holding. "We're about to take off. We have the bags packed, and everyone is on board."

Mike nodded, and I filmed out the window, at the planes in front of us.

"Good day Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome aboard the Los Angeles Kings private Jet. We hope you enjoy your flight. Please do not hesitate to bring any issues or concerns to the attention of any crew member aboard the aircraft. This flight is scheduled to leave Los Angeles California, USA, at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, October 2nd, and arrive in St. Paul Minnesota, USA, at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, October 2nd. Your estimated flying time will be approximately 4 hours. We hope you enjoy your flight!" A cheery female voice announced over the speakers.

I filmed out the window as we got closer to the runway, and more planes took off. The seatbelt sign came on, and I fastened the buckle on mine.

When we were the first plane in the line, we slowly pulled on to the runway, and lined up just right.

It took a second for the pilots to do a final check of everything, and communicate with the tower, but the engines hummed louder, and the plane vibrated slightly.

"Can't wait to get on the ice tomorrow." Mike said beside me, and I nodded my agreement.

The whine of the engine grew and grew, and the plane moved forward the slightest bit. The lights dimmed, and we started to move down the runway, slow at first, but growing faster and faster until I could barely see anything we were going so fast. We went almost to the end of the runway, and then I felt the plane lift, from the front first, and slowly climb into the sky.

"What are we gonna watch this flight?" Mike asked me, and I shrugged.

We sailed over the fence at the end of the runway, and did a circle over the airport, before turning, and heading in the direction of Minnesota.

I filmed out the window until we couldn't see LA anymore, and we were high above the clouds.

"Wanna watch the walking dead?" Asked Mike, and I nodded.

"Sure!"

"Ok man, let's get this started."

I nodded, and shut off the camera, stowing it in my pocket.
