Up and Coming

Chapter 44

I followed Mike back into the dressing room, to check for anything left behind by the team. Kanye West's Mercy was pounding from the speakers in the dressing room.

"Good fuckin game boys!" I called to Dustin and Drew as they headed out of the room.

Mike tossed my soccer ball to me.

"Someone left this in here!" He nodded, and I tossed the ball to an equipment manager.

"This is great. I just give everything to an equipment manager, and they take care of it." I laughed. "This is the life."

"Yeah, I know." He agreed. "I've heard that LA is one of the best organizations in the league for that too!"

"Wow." I said, checking the showers for anything left over.

Everything was taken, even the garbage. I walked back into the middle of the room, and took a look around.

"Wait! I need to sign the stall! Do you have a sharpie?" I panicked for a second, before Mike tossed me a black sharpie.

I bent down next to my stall, and began to write.

Jake Belanger of the Los Angeles Kings sat here on October 3rd, 2014, for his first career NHL game.

I finished by scrawling my autograph, before closing the stall, and tossing the sharpie back to Mike.

"Hey Brendan!" I called to one of the equipment managers, who was passing the room. "What happens with all of the stuff that you take out of the arenas? You guys even took the garbage!"

"Well, we keep it for a time in our storage space in the Staples Center, before we sort it and decide what to do with it. For example, the recycling that we take goes to the LA Kings recycling depot, to raise money for the team." He replied, and I laughed.

"Well, you have it all planned out. Can I help with that?"

"For sure!" He grinned. "I won't touch a thing, and I'll keep everyone else out of there. Come and see me when ever, and I'll show you the drills."

I laughed as he headed for the VIP exit, carrying a bin of medical supplies.

"Looks like we're good Mikey!" I called, following Brendan to the door. "Let's go."
