If We Met Again
5 Months Later
Steph's POV
It had been 5 months. 5 months since everything that happened with Sid. But it only felt like it had been a week. Time went by so slow. I got up and pushed back the curtains, looking out the window to the view of the mountains in the far distance. Russia was my home now. It was nice, the locals were pretty nice too, considering they knew who I was. I looked over at my watch, and realized the time. 10:35. Shit. I had to go pick up Alex from the airport. I threw on my cream sweater and tights and ran downstairs, and out to my car.
The Moscow airport was only 15 minutes away, so I got there in what felt like no time. I stopped the car by the side entrance, and saw Alex, with a displeased look on his face. Shit, I didn't blame him. I was damn late. I got out of the car and went up to him. "Alex, i'm so sorry, I guess I over slept." I leaned in to hug him.
"It's okay, I just had to wait here for an hour in this -35 temperature, but that's okay. At least you got some extra sleep, right Stephie?" I rolled my eyes at his sarcasm and helped get his bags into the car.
"So, tomorrow is the final training day before the Olympics, right?" I asked.
"Da. Let's just hope team Russia can win the gold this year. Unlike 2010, with Canada winning and Crosby-" He stopped mid sentence, and looked over at me. "Oh. um. never mind."
I shrugged, and we drove back home the rest of the way in silence.
As soon as we got home, I went up to my room and sat down on the edge of my bed. I couldn't get over him. I know I should, but I couldn't. He was just so amazing, and I let him get away. The truth was, I missed him more than anything. I wanted him more than anything i've ever wanted before. But it was too late for us now.
Sidney's POV
I stepped off the ice, and headed off towards the locker room, when someone stopped me. I turned around to see Toews.
"Hey, man, that was a good practice. We got this." He play punched my arm.
I nodded. "Yeah man, we got this. Canada for the gold once more!" I smiled and turned around. I stuffed my practice gear into my bag and grabbed my car keys. "Hey, Nealer, you still want that ride?"
"Yeah, man, hold up!" Neal replied, running out of the locker room. "Alright, let's go man."
We headed out to my car, and I put our bags into the back. "So, Neal, man. You think you ready for this? I asked as I shifted the car into drive.
Neal looked up from his phone? "Hm, what? Oh, yeah, yeah, the Olympics. Uh, yeah, man. Waiting since 2010 for this Sid." He laughed. "Just don't steal the spotlight again this time!"
I laughed. "Ah, I can't guarantee that, James."
We got back to the hotel and I fell back onto the bed. Man, coach drilled us today. I closed my eyes and thought back to the Vancouver Olympics, when I scored. Everyone expected that again from me. To win Canada the gold. But how could I when I had all this other shit in my head. Like Stephanie. I couldn't forget her. I had to but I knew I could never. all the girls throw themselves at me. But she was different from any girl I had ever met. But she was gone.
5 Days later. 2014 Olympics
Steph's POV
I sat in my seat watching Team Russia warming up on the ice before facing Team Canada in the finals. I realized I forgot my phone in Alex's warm up bag, since I didn't have my bag or anywhere to keep it, and got up to go get it before the game started. I walked through the back area past the team locker rooms. I had a pass so I could go in back there. I kept my gaze down -The truth is, the players kind of, well...scared me- and walked fast, until I bumped into someone. "I am SO sorry, I-" I looked up at his jersey. Team Canada. And then up at him. It was Sidney.
