Therapy is Good for the Soul

Chapter 5

The Games were over and the cleanup was nearly done. Soon Bailey would be able to sit down and take a much needed break. Before she could do that, she needed to say a few more thank yous. Bailey found Jessica over by the rink the Bruins’ street team was taking down.

“How could you keep Bergy’s donation from me?” Bailey asked.

“He wanted it to be a surprise and I promised I wouldn’t tell you. Sorry.”

“Tell him it was! I still can’t believe his generosity, please let him know how appreciative the hospital is! I’m really excited about it too! It’s just incredible!” Bailey exclaimed and again on the verge of tears.

“Bailey, you’re such a sap!” Jessica said and then both girls laughed.

“Jessica, please make sure to thank Ference, Marchand , and Seguin too. They were all great with the kids; I couldn’t have asked for more from them.”

“Sure, no problem. Speaking of Seguin, what’s up with the cold shoulder you gave him this morning?”

“Was it that obvious?”

“That’s not an answer, and yes it was quite obvious, so much so, his teammates gave him shit about it” Jessica said.

“Crap! Now I feel bad. He was so great today, especially with Alexis.”

“That still doesn’t answer my question. What did he do to piss you off so bad?” Jessica inquired.

“It’s just that he was such a cocky jerk the last time I met him and when he called me Bay this morning, I kind of lost it. I wanted to make it very clear that I am not going to be one of his puck fucks!”

Jessica laughed “Well, I think he got that message loud and clear.”

“Was I really that bad this morning? Should I apologize? I didn’t do anything that can hurt the future of the Games or the Braveheart program did I?”

Jessica calmed Bailey and told her not to worry; the guys thought it was funny that a girl actually turned Segs down. She said they were all impressed with the games and all her hard work. What she didn’t tell her was that she was pretty certain that Seguin was definitely interested in Bailey and wasn’t giving up just yet.

“Bergy that was a pretty awesome speech and generous donation you gave.” Segs said.

“Thanks, these kids really inspire me; it’s the least I can do for them.” Bergy replied.

“I know what you mean. I’d really like to stay involved too.” Tyler said.

“You just want in that girl’s pants!” Marchy shouted.

“Is that true? Do you really want to work with these kids or do you just want another chance to hook up with Bailey? She’s not a bunny; she’s a really sweet girl. I don’t want you to hurt her or these kids. ” Bergy said questioning Tyler’s intentions.

“No! I’m not going to lie; I did initially agree to come today with the hopes of getting a second shot at hooking up with Bailey. But I swear it’s not like Marchy said; I really did enjoy hanging out with the kids after the game and today, was just incredible! Those kids are special and I want to give back just like you.” All the guys heard the sincerity in Tyler’s voice and knew he was serious.

“I’ll talk to Jessica and see if she has any ideas on how you can get more involved with the hospital.” Bergy promised Tyler and Tyler thanked his teammate and friend before Bergy headed out.

“So, are you over Bailey now or what?” Andrew asked.

“Definitely not! After today, I’m even more attracted to her. I just don’t think she’s interested or even likes me. I’m not sure how to change her mind.”

“Maybe she has a boyfriend.” Marchy said.

“No, I don’t think so, based on her reaction after that remark Alexis made that Andrew could ‘have her’ during the meet and greet.” Tyler said.

“I agree; she was so embarrassed by the comment. I don’t think she would have reacted that way if she weren’t single. Let me ponder on this for a bit and I’ll come up with a way for you to get another chance with Bailey. The good news is we know she will be working with Bergy on the Braveheart program again, so there will be more opportunities to see her. In the meantime, if you run into her don’t do anything stupid!” Andrew stated as he headed out the door to go home. Easier said than done, Tyler thought to himself, after all he didn’t realize he acted like a jerk the first time, until it was too late.

As Andrew walked out the door, he noticed Bailey sitting on top of a box looking tired and frustrated. He asked her if she was ok and if there was anything he could do to help. It turned out that the truck that was suppose to collect all of the equipment and supplies from the games left several boxes and Bailey couldn’t leave until they were picked up. She was having a hard time getting in touch with the driver and most of her coworkers don’t own cars and certainly not a car big enough to hold everything. Andrew said he might have a solution and told her to wait there and he’d be right back.

“You owe me big time, Segs! I told you I’d get you another chance with Bailey and today is your lucky day.” Andrew exclaimed as he entered the gym where Tyler and Brad had started to work out.

“What? Are you serious? How?” Tyler inquired as he stopped pedaling and grabbed a towel.

“She’s outside and needs someone to help her deliver some boxes to the hospital. I thought maybe you’d like to be her chauffeur and personal delivery boy.” Andrew said with a smile.

“Yeah, I’d love to! Wait, did you tell her it was me?” Tyler asked as his excitement level dropped.

“No, I just told her I might have a solution. It’s up to you to convince her that you aren’t the ass she met after the game and to let you help. I’ve set up the play, you just have to finish it.”

“Thanks man!” the excitement could be heard in his voice again.

“Well don’t just sit there get off your ass and go get your girl!” Andrew said and the three of them gathered their belongings and left the gym.

Tyler felt butterflies in his stomach; he was getting nervous as they approached Bailey. Talking to girls was second nature to him, but not with Bailey. It had been a long time since he had a challenge, but he was never one to back down from one. This time would be no different!

“Tyler has his truck today and would be happy to take you and all your equipment. Marchy here offered to help too.” Andrew said catching both Tyler and Brad off guard. Andrew felt Brad would be a good buffer and help lighten the mood in case Bailey still had a cold shoulder towards Tyler. Despite the teasing, he knew Brad would also be a good wingman for Tyler if he got tongue-tied.

“Oh, that’s very kind of you, but I don’t want to impose.” Bailey was hesitant to accept the offer because she wasn’t sure what to say to Tyler. She was still, embarrassed by how rude she treated him earlier that morning.

“It’s really no big deal. We’re happy to help.” Tyler replied.

“Are y’all sure you don’t mind?” Bailey asked, still obviously tense around Tyler.

“Just call me Jeeves.” Marchy chimed in as he bowed down and waved his arm in a gesture towards Bailey. This allowed Tyler and Bailey to immediately relax.

“Well, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a butler.” Bailey giggled.

“Don’t forget you get a personal chauffeur in this deal too. Your wish is our command!” Tyler chimed in, resulting in another laugh. Yes! I am making headway thought Tyler.

Bailey led the three Bruins to all the equipment to load in Tyler’s truck. Once everything was loaded, they said their goodbyes to Andrew and Brad hopped in the backseat. Tyler again pleasantly surprised Bailey when he chivalrously opened the front passenger door for her before they headed to the hospital.
