Therapy is Good for the Soul

Chapter 6

It seemed like the weekend would never come to an end. Tyler tried to stay busy golfing, going to the movies, and his usual of hitting the club scene. He had ample opportunities to hook up with random girls, but he didn’t because it just didn’t feel right. Nothing seemed to take Bailey off his mind. He couldn’t believe that yet again, he missed his chance to get her number and ask her out.

Things had gone so well on the ride over to the hospital after the Summer Games. Tyler owed Andrew for creating that second chance opportunity with Bailey. Marchy had been a great wingman too; his unique sense of humor allowed Tyler to relax around Bailey and have a normal conversation. Bailey started to open up too and for that he would forever be grateful to his teammates. He had learned that Bailey was from a small town in Georgia; graduated from high school a year early and then went on to Boston University. She was offered a job at Boston Children’s after she completed an internship there and passed her boards. She was different then the typical girls he went after, but Tyler found Bailey intriguing. She was smart, sweet, and had an air of innocence about her that was refreshing. He enjoyed their conversation and only wanted to get to know her better. Unfortunately, after Tyler and Marchy unloaded all the equipment Bailey got pulled in to help with a patient before he could ask for her number. Now he was stuck wondering if Bailey would have said yes and agreed to go out with him.

He spoke to Andrew about the disappointment while they were golfing with Soupie and Marchy. Andrew told him not to stress about it and if it was meant to be, he’ll get another opportunity. He even suggested he talk to Jessica on Monday to see if she would help him get connected with Bailey again. Tyler decided that if she said no, he’d just go to the hospital and find Bailey. Either way he’d hope Bailey wouldn’t think he was a creepy stalker!

Tyler headed to Jessica’s office after his workout and knocked on her door. “Do you have a minute?”

“Sure, What can I do for you?” Jessica replied.

“I was wondering if I could get Bailey’s number from you? I was going to ask her on Friday, but she got pulled away before I could.”

Jessica chuckled “ I knew you wouldn’t give up! Tyler, I think you’re a great guy, but I don’t think Bailey is your type of girl.”

“I know she is different, that’s part of what I find so attractive. Help me get in touch with her again.”

“You really like her don’t you?”

“YES! Does that mean you’ll help me?” he asked with a sense of hope in his voice.

“I don’t know Tyler; Bailey’s my friend and I’m not sure she’d appreciate me just giving out her number. Let me talk to her and see what she says.”

“Can’t you give a guy a break? I’m not some random guy that you don’t know. Please! I promise I’ll attend any special event you need, just help me out here.” Tyler begged.

“ Geez, you’ve got it bad! I’m just not comfortable giving you her number, but I want to help. Tell you what, I will talk to her today, but in the interim I’ll give you her twitter handle. She’s pretty active on there and you could try to connect with her that way.”

“Thanks”

“Just don’t do anything stupid and make me regret this! Remember Bailey is not one of your bunnies.”

“ You can trust me.”

“I’ll hold you to that. If you hurt her, I know where to find you and I am sure Bergy will have something to say about it too. Don’t screw this up Tyler! Oh, and I’ll expect you to volunteer for every upcoming event I need a player at without any complaints.” Jessica said before giving him Bailey’s twitter name. It wasn’t exactly what Tyler was hoping for, but something was better than nothing. Tyler thanked Jessica one last time, before heading home.

As soon as Tyler got home, he went online to check out Bailey’s twitter account. Jessica wasn’t lying about Bailey being an active user. He found a wealth of information about her interests based on all of her tweets. The best part was she tweeted that she was headed to a concert tonight at the House of Blues. He discovered that Marc Broussard and a band called Green river Ordinance were playing and there were still tickets available. He went down the hall to ask his roommate, Freddy if he’d be his wingman and go to the concert with him. Freddy questioned that they’d actually be able to find Bailey at the concert, but he was never one to turn down a night with good live music and agreed to go with him.

Notes

Sorry for the delay in the update, I struggled with this one. It's a bit of a transition chapter to get where I want to go.
