That Summer
Accept It Now And Enjoy It
*Katie’s POV*
After some heavy convincing from Annabella, I decided to go. The hockey game was tonight at 8, so I needed to hurry up and get ready. At first, I thought we were going to be sitting way up back, because we were broke college girls, but boy was I wrong. Margaret’s family is apparently rich, so she offered to buy us all tickets right behind the bench of the home team. Now the girls were so excited that they would be sitting there, but I was dreading it. What if Beau saw me? What if he recognized me? What if he didn’t recognize me? These thoughts all ran through my head as I pulled a Penguins jersey over my head. I looked down at my hands. They were already shaking.
“Why you so nervous?” Olly asked me as we took our seats. The girls had been complaining how it was cold, but I was sweating like a pig. “Oh I’m not. It’s just my first hockey game that’s all.” I laughed nervously as I lied right to her face. All of them looked at me weirdly before moving on.
I tried focusing on the game to calm my nerves and it had started to work. They were beating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1. It was almost of the end of the 2nd period. Come on Katie, Just one more period, and then you can go back to the dorms and relax, I thought as the timer started to run out. Beau hadn’t even noticed me, yet I was sitting right behind him. Margaret kept stating on how she thought she was in heaven. She kept pretending to pet Beau’s hair or rub Sidney Crosby’s back through the thin glass. “Margaret stop! People are starting to look at us like we’re freaks.” Sarah said, grabbing Margaret’s hands and putting them on her laps. Margaret yelled. “I don’t care if they think I’m a freak for wanting Beau Bennett’s Dick!” I wished she hadn’t said that with all my heart. Beau definitely heard what she said and turned around. Margaret’s face turned bright red as all the girls laughed at her. At first he smiled at her, but since I was sitting next to her, he looked at me. Beau’s facial expression was a little shocked actually as I smiled to him. Why was I smiling?! I should have been pissed! Beau smiled back and we stared at each other for a couple moments. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jess whisper something to Sarah and Olly and Margaret giving me dirty looks. Beau was about to go back onto the ice flooded me with questions. “Do you know him?!” Margaret asked me. That was the only one I answered. “Nope.” Another lie.
I was trying to get to the locker room, so I could talk to Beau, but one of the idiot’s who worked there wouldn’t let me. I mean I didn’t blame him. He was just doing his job, but did he really have to be an ass while doing it. “Please I swear he wanted to talk to me.” I said, hoping he would give up and let me by. “Listen sweetie, a ton of crazy people say this to me every game, and I give them all the same answer…NO!” I licked my lips before opening my mouth again. “So are you calling me crazy?!” I said. Thank god Beau came out of nowhere, because I was seriously going to flip at this guy. “It’s ok, she’s with me.” he said, pushing his sweaty hair out of his face. The man let me through and I smirked at him.
Beau and I started to walk back to the locker room without saying anything. After a minute, I stopped. “Beau, what do you want?” He looked kinda surprised that I was that rude to him. “Whattya mean Katie? I want you. Why are you even in Pittsburgh in the first place anyways?” He was so oblivious. “Oh so you just wanna hook up again I see. Can’t even call a girl back, but once you see me want me again?’” I put my hands on my hips and swallowed hard. If we kept having this conversation, I was soon gonna cry. “What the hell are you talking about Katie?! You never called me.” I thought back to the moment of when I called him. “I called you Beau.” was all I said. “No you didn’t. I have proof you didn’t.” He pulled out his phone and showed me that I didn’t call him. Beau wasn’t a bad person! I was the one who was wrong! I had never been so happy that I was wrong in my life! I hugged Beau and pulled back. “I’m so sorry Beau. I didn’t mean to flip shit on you…but who the hell did I call then?!” I took out my phone and looked at the call history. It said I called him. I double checked his contact. Someone switched my Aunt’s number and Beau’s number on my phone. Ugh Gally, I thought to myself. He was always pulling stupid pranks on me. “I feel like an idiot now.” I said, looking down at my toes. “It’s ok Katie, I forgive you.” He leaned in and kissed my cheek.
Since Beau and I took a while to talk and sort things out, all of the guys had already left while he took a shower. I sat in the locker room by myself waiting for him to get out. I don’t even know why I waited. I didn’t know what the hell we were going to do after this anyways. Beau came out of the shower area in only a towel. “You like?” he asked me, smiling like a little boy. I turned my head and giggled. “Beau, what if someone walked in when you said that?” He ignored the question as he came over to me and kissed me. “You ready for this?” he said, stepping back. “Ready for what?” I said, confused. “This.” He pointed to the lower half of his body. I rolled my eyes. “Really Beau? Here?” It took me a second before I realized he was serious. “No silly, not in here. I would never do that to this locker room. That’s just absurd.” I sighed and relaxed my shoulders. “Thank god. I thought you were-…” He cut me off. “That’s why we do this in the visiting team’s locker room.” Before I even had a chance to resist he grabbed my arm like he did at Gabe’s party and started running. “Beau! Stop! Someone’s gonna catch you running half naked with a girl sooner or later!” He just laughed as he dragged me on. “For god sakes Beau, we haven’t even been on our first date yet!” Not that I had a problem with it, but still. I was trying to say anything that would make him stop. I actually really wanted to sleep with him. But not here. This was risky. Both of us could get in trouble if anyone actually found out. “Come on Beau, why can’t we do this the old fashioned way, ya know….like in a bed!” I said to him as he opened the locker room door. “Because Katie, I don’t see any beds lying around. Do you?” He locked the door and immediately started taking off my jersey. I didn’t even bother resisting, because I knew he would get his way. “Sidney jersey eh?” he said whipping it on the ground. I ignore him and kissed his neck. Better just accept it now and enjoy myself, I thought as my hands fumbled with his towel. I finally got the towel off of him. Thank god for make-up sex.
