That Summer

Annabella was the Lapierre no one knew about. She was always in the shadow of her big sister Mel, who had stolen the heart of the quarterback of the football team, and her long time best friend, Nate, at Bryerwood high school and was blamed for their loss of the championships when Nate chose to be with her at the hospital instead of at the game. And she was always in the shadow of her hockey star brother, Jake: the one who had chosen the NHL draft over the championship game of his senior year and was blamed for their first loss in 6 years. Once the Lapierres were Bryerwood royalty, but after Mel had cost them the championships in football and Jake had cost them their 7th straight hockey championship, no one wanted anything to do with the Lapierres... and they thought they wouldn't have to deal with one ever again...

Annabella was 6 years younger than her sister and 4 years younger than her brother and by the time high school rolled around for her, her siblings had left a mess for her to deal with and her mother wasn't having it. She was sent to the school of her dreams in a place she loved- her hometown of Montreal, Canada with the rest of her family. She was having the time of her life, until her mother decided being away for so long at a young age wasn't right for Annabella and brought her home and enrolled her at the school where her family had a legacy that Annabella had no intention of living up to.

Everyone knew of the Lapierres at Bryerwood and would never forget what they did and the minute Annabella walks into school, it's made clear that she is not a welcome edition... That is until she meets Katie Marshall, the girl who wasn't classified in a specific clique and welcomed Annabella, knowing who she was, but not caring. She didn't judge her for her family... she knew the guys on the hockey team would have made the same decision as Jake had they been given the chance and she knew it was Nate's decision to stay at the hospital even though Mel told him to go to the game. She didn't judge Annabella based on her last name. Enter the hockey team and her brother's best friend Matt, a senior and captain of the hockey team. He welcomes Annabella and makes sure no one judges her for the mess she's had placed upon her... but there's one boy who had no intention of judging her, before or after he knew who she really was- Gabe Landeskog- the boy every girl wanted.

Already unwelcome at a school of people who hate her family, could Gabe make things even worse?

Fast forward a year and the Lapierre name has been restored and her siblings have Annabella to thank for it. By the end of her senior year she had long stolen the heart of now hockey captain Gabe, become valedictorian of the class, and was in the running for prom queen. She was accepted to Concordia University- her dream school and was going to live this summer like it was her last. With her friends, her family, and her boyfriend... Katie had finally gotten what she wanted- a friendship with Alex Galchenyuk... and maybe a little more and she had gotten a best friend in Annabella. They were going to spend the summer together seeing as Annabella was off to Montreal come August and Katie was off to Pennsylvania to go to Penn State. The girls were going to travel, go to parties, and do what they did best- party and not give a damn- they were 18 and crazy.

But, as the saying goes, one door closes and another opens. Question is, will Annabella choose to keep the door of her past open and hold on to everything high school brought her- friends, love, and a new look on life, or will she choose to open a new one- a new world, a new school, new friends, new city.... and a new love.

Will Katie finally tell Alex what she really wants? Will he tell her? Or will Pennsylvania present new opportunities for Katie in more ways than one?
