That Summer

*Annabella’s POV*

“Hey babe, where should I put this?” Brendan asked carrying up the box that had our unbuilt bookcase in it. “Um… just put it by the TV and we’ll start it in about half an hour. I wanna get everything else done before we start building things.” I said as I read an email from my sister. I heard a thud as he put the box down and then felt his arms wrap around my waist. “We live together.” He said with a goofy smile as I turned around to face him. “Yes, yes we do.” I said standing on my tippy toes to give him a kiss. “And now we need to fix this place.” I said putting my hands on my hips and looking around. Since Brendan had decided to move in we decided to redo the whole apartment which was gonna be a big job, but we were up for the challenge. “Oh yes… so much fun.” He said sarcastically. “Alright babe you deal with the bookcase and I will go finish up the bathroom and the makeup room stuff.” I said as I sauntered off into the bathroom in the hallway. “Why do you get the easy stuff?” He whined. “Because I’m not a big, strong man like you.” I said as I stifled a giggle. He smiled slightly as I went back to the bathroom to finish organizing things and soon I was off the room that now had all of my makeup, hair, nail, and beauty products in it. It had been Andrea’s room, but since she moved out now I had it and Brendan had some of his stuff in there as well. I started organizing everything the way I wanted it and about an hour later I went out to see that Brendan had finished the bookcase and it looked gorgeous. “Damn babe, if this whole hockey thing doesn’t work out, you could be a carpenter.” I said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Yeah well I prefer hockey.” He said giving the side of my head a kiss. We spent the rest of the day putting things together, organizing, redoing, and cleaning up the apartment and finally, around 7 o’clock, we finished. “Ugh that took forever.” He said as we sat on the couch. “I know… so I was thinking Chinese for dinner?” I said as I got up from the couch and adjusted my flannel shirt. “And I was thinking you’re a genius.” He said as he grabbed his coat and left to go get the food. I made the last few touches to our bedroom and the kitchen while he was gone and when he got back I had formulated a plan I knew he would love.

“I come bearing gifts.” Brendan said as he placed the bag on the counter. “My hero.” I said as I pretended to faint in his arms. We ate and when we were done it was time to put my plan into action. “Hey babe, you wanna go get me some ice cream?” I asked innocently, knowing he couldn’t resist my puppy dog eyes. “Ugh curse your cute face… fine.” He said as he got up to leave again. The minute he left I ran to our bedroom to set things up. I put on an “outfit” I knew he’d love, even though I knew it wouldn’t be on me very long. I then set some candles around the bed and when I heard the key in the door I lit them and stood in the doorway and waited.

*Brendan’s POV*

The ice cream place wasn’t that far away so I was only gone for like 10 minutes, but when I got back all the lights were off. I put the ice cream on the counter and when I looked up my eyes got wide, my jaw dropped, and my pants tightened a little bit. Annabella was standing there in something most people wouldn’t even dream of wearing and it was driving me wild. “Hey babe.” She said in a seductive tone and made her way over to me very slowly. I kept looking her up and down and she kept biting her lip which only made it worse. It seemed like forever before she finally reached where I was and there was no point in her coming over because within 10 seconds we were back in the bedroom.

*Annabella’s POV*

Waking up the next morning was painful but also amazing. Last night had definitely been one of the best of my life, if not the best. I was sore, but it was all worth it. I started to turn over but let out a groan and I felt Brendan stirring beside me. “You okay babe?” He asked as his eyes fluttered open. “No.” I said smiling. He looked really scared and concerned. “What’s wrong?” He asked sounding really nervous. “Well after last night I can’t walk normally.” I answered laughing and he relaxed again. “Well I enjoyed it.” He said turning to face me. “And so did I.” I responded as I rolled on top of him. He stayed like that for a little while but he had practice because the Stanley Cup finals were coming up and I had to shower. Luckily my classes were out for the summer so I didn’t have to go anywhere and could spend my time with Brendan and my friends and family. When I got out of the shower he was already gone and I had gotten a text from Angela asking if I wanted to go to lunch so I said yes and left the apartment. I had become good friends with all the wives and girlfriends but I had become especially close with Angela.
“So, how are things with Brendan? Living together now and such.” She asked after we had gotten our orders. “They’re good. We spent the whole day yesterday redoing the apartment and it took forever but we love it now so it’s good.” I answered smiling. “You guys are totally in it for life.” She said smiling at me. “Well I hope so…” I answered as I took a sip of my water. “Oh honey, I know so. Carey tells me Brendan never stops smiling when he’s around you and he’s always talking about you and just so much happier in general since he met you.” She said grabbing my hand. “He’s done for.” She said and we both laughed. “Well so am I.” I said grinning. “Ugh you guys are so cute!” She gushed. We talked for a couple more hours before heading our separate ways.

As I shut the door to the apartment I noticed a familiar coat on the counter… “Gally!” I yelled as I jumped into his arms. “What are you doing here!?” I asked as he put me down. “I was invited up by the team to watch the cup final since they plan on drafting me first round next year.” He said beaming and I beamed right back. “That’s amazing!” I said hugging him again. “Hey babe.” I said walking over to Brendan and giving him a kiss. “He’s pretty cool.” Brendan said as he looked at Gally. “Duh, he’s cooler than you.” I teased and Gally laughed while Brendan pretended to look hurt. “Ouch babe.” He said as he smiled. We all sat down on the couch to watch a movie and soon enough we were all heading to bed.

“I can’t believe the cup final starts tomorrow.” Brendan said as he got into bed. “I know… don’t be nervous though babe. You’re gonna do amazing and I’m gonna be there to cheer you on no matter what.” I said smiling at him and resting my hand on his cheek. “This is why I love you.” He said before kissing me and we both fell asleep.
