That Summer
Worth All The Pain
*Annabella’s POV*
“Ugh this is so nerve-wracking.” I said as I moved up and down in my seat at the Stanley Cup Final. It was Edmonton against Montreal and the score was tied 2-2 with 28.3 seconds remaining in the 3rd period. Angie was biting her nails on one hand and squeezing mine with the other. “I know… I can’t even imagine how the guys feel.” The final face-off of the game happened and I screamed as soon as I saw it. Brendan scored the winning goal… “THEY WON!” Angie and I yelled in unison as we hug and screamed and started running down towards the ice.
*Brendan’s POV*
We all yelled and cheered and got teary eyed as we prepared to take the most prized possession this sport had to offer, but I was focusing on something else. “You ready?” PK asked me as I held the little black box in my hand. “Yeah… Let’s do this.” I said as we both smiled. “Brendan!” I heard from behind me and when I turned around I lost my footing as Annabella jumped into my arms. “You got the winning goal! I’m so proud of you!” She said as I spun her around and she giggled. “Well it was all because my good luck charm is here.” I said winking at her and I knew this was it. PK was holding off the announcer and explained why. “And I want you here forever.” I said as I bit my lip and took my gloves off. Annabella looked really confused and when she saw me start to bend down her eyes got wide and her hand flew to her mouth. Max came over with a microphone and held it out in front of me as Annabella started to cry. “Bella, I know we’ve only been dating for 8 months and we’re both so young, but I can’t picture my life with anyone else and I don’t want to. I want you here with me forever, wherever I go… I want you by my side. Annabella Lapierre, will you marry me?” I opened the box and her eyes got even wider.
*Annabella’s POV*
I couldn’t believe he was proposing but there was one thing I knew- they say people come into our lives to do one thing, to hurt us and cause pain, but you need to decide who is worth all the pain. That night, at that moment, I knew Brendan would always be worth it… no matter what. “Annabella Lapierre, will you marry me?” When I heard the words I was speechless, but finally was able to squeak out a yes and as Brendan slipped the gorgeous ring on my finger the arena erupted in cheers and Brendan dipped me and gave me a kiss that was worthy of an Oscar. “I love you.” He said as he placed his forehead on mine. “I love you too Brendan.”
