The next morning, or should I say afternoon, came by very quick. I woke up in my bed in the guest room downstairs somehow, with Brayden right beside me. I looked over at him and he was sound asleep like a little baby. I rubbed his back as I waited for him to wake up.


Brayden: “Good morning babe”

Tori: “Hi bray, I’m gonna go for an early walk around town, maybe get some coffee”

Brayden: “oh, do you want me to come with you?”

Tori: “No it’s ok, you should get some sleep”


I got out of bed and decided to take a shower. The real question is, how do I feel almost completely sober and Brayden Schenn out of anyone is still drunk. Anyway, after my shower, I got dressed and put on a pair of jeans with a sweater cardigan and put on my combat boots. Before heading out the door, I grabbed my maroon beanie and my purse.

When I headed up stairs, I saw a note on the kitchen counter that said ‘staying at Angelina’s for the night ~Luke’ I’m guessing Angelina is Luke’s back up boo. No offense to her or anything, she’s gotta pretty name.

As I headed out toward town my phone rang and it was Jeff Skinner, my best friend ever since we were little.


Jeff: “Tori I miss you!!! I heard you were in Sask with Brayden and I’m heading to Starbucks right now if you wanna meet up?”

Tori: “Oh thank god for you, Jeff. Something happened last night and I need your advice. I’ll be at Starbucks in 10”

Jeff: “Sounds good! See ya then”


I hung up the phone and drove to Starbucks. Jeff is the perfect person to talk to right now. He always gives me great relationship advice and is always there when I need him. When I arrived to Starbucks, I picked out Jeff’s car in the parking lot and parked right next to him. As I walked into Starbucks I saw him sitting by a table in the corner and had two drinks in front of him.


Tori: “hey hey stranger!”

Jeff: “Well if it isn’t the Queen Victoria, I am at your service. How do you do?”

Tori: “I swear you greet me like this everytime, I swear!”

Jeff: “It keeps the friendship alive eh?”

Tori: “You got that right. So I have some dish for you”

Jeff: “I love dish. What’s wrong Tor?”

Tori: “Well Brayden and Luke threw a party last night and invited the boys over and I made a mistake”

Jeff: “What happened?”

Tori: “Well Brayden passed out and I was completely drunk, Luke was the only sober one…”

Jeff: “and……?”

Tori: “You know me I flirt when I’m drunk, and well Luke kissed me.”

Jeff: “WHAT! Did you kiss him back?”

Tori: “No, as soon as he kissed me I realized what I’ve done. But does it still count as cheating? I was drunk and Luke kissed me but I didn’t kiss back… plus he was all over me that morning.”

Jeff: “I wouldn’t call it cheating, even if you were flirting with him. The thing is he kissed you and you didn’t kiss him back. Plus you were drunk.”

Tori: “oh thank god. But I don’t know what to do. Should I tell Brayden or keep it between me and Luke. Or should Luke tell him?”

Jeff: “I think it would be bad if Brayden heard it from Luke first and not his own girlfriend. So therefore just in case Luke does tell Brayden, you should tell him anyway.”

Tori: “But what should I say?”

Jeff: “Tell him the truth. Tell him you were drunk and have a bad habit of leading people on when you’re drunk and that Luke kissed you.”

Tori: “ugh ok. Thanks Jeffy. And thanks for the coffee. You’re the best.”

Jeff: “It’s going to be ok. Let me know how everything goes and if Brayden decides to be a dick then you are more than welcome to come over for movie night.”

Tori: “Hahahaha thanks Jeffy, love you.”

Jeff: “Love you too Queen, drive safe”


After talking to Jeff and receiving some incredible advice, I ordered a drink for Brayden before heading out the door. On the way home I became more and more nervous about Brayden’s reaction. I never intended kissing Luke and I hope he realizes that.

When I arrived to the Schenn’s house, I noticed Luke’s car in the drive way. Guess he’s back from that chick’s house. I walked into the kitchen where I stumbled upon Luke and some girl who I’m guessing is Angelina.


Luke: “Tori, I’d like you to meet Angelina”

Angelina: “Hi, it’s great to meet you”

Tori: “Great to meet you too. Sorry, if I knew you were coming over I would’ve gotten you something from Starbucks”

Angelina: “Oh no no it’s ok, I don’t drink coffee”

Tori: “Oh ok! If you excuse me, I have to deliver this”

I walked out of the kitchen and made my way down into the basement. There is where I found a cute little Brayden on the couch playing NHL 14.

Brayden: “Fuck you reff, fucking blind as shit”

Tori: “Don’t worry about them Bray, here, I got you Starbucks”

Brayden: “Ahhh you’re an angel. Thank you”

Tori: “Anytime. So did you meet Angelina?”

Brayden: “yeah I met her before, everytime Luke and Jeska break up or have a fight he talks to her. But it seems like it’s getting more serious since Jeska ended things with him once she found out about her.”

Tori: “Oh god, poor Jeska”

Brayden: “Yeah, but Angelina seems like a nice girl.”

Tori: “The chick doesn’t drink coffee. I don’t trust her.”

Brayden: “I heard she doesn’t like maple syrup either.”

Tori: “Oh god. I don’t think it’ll last”

Brayden: “Hahaha me neither.”

I sat down next to Brayden on the couch and helped myself under neath the blanket Brayden was using.

Tori: “Bray, I need to tell you something.”

Brayden: “What’s wrong?”

Tori: “I have a bad habit of leading people on when I’m drunk and well yesterday at the party…”

Brayden looked at me in concern.

Tori: “Luke kissed me.”

Brayden: “what.”

Tori: “I didn’t kiss him back though, babe. I made a mistake, I shouldn’t have gotten drunk in the first place.”

Brayden: “No no babe it’s not your fault. It’s mine. I should’ve never made you drink last night”

Tori: “But you didn’t know how I was”

Brayden: “Doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t have drank either. I should’ve been watching over you like a true boyfriend and I failed to be by your side. I was on the kitchen floor instead”

Tori: “Don’t put this on yourself. It’s not your fault Bray.”

Brayden: “Luke started this. He doesn’t know how to back off even if it bit him in the ass.”

All of a sudden, Brayden marched upstairs into the kitchen after Luke.

Brayden: “You can’t stick to one girl can you? How dare you kiss my girlfriend when she’s intoxicated.”

Angelina: “What’s going on Luke?”

Luke ignoring Angelina,

Luke: “Maybe if you weren’t intoxicated yourself last night, you would’ve stopped me.”

Brayden: “You shouldn’t have done it anyway! She was drunk!”

Luke: “SHE TOLD ME IT WAS OK. SHE TOLD ME TO KISS HER”

Brayden: “SHE WAS DRUNK. IT DOESN’T MAKE IT OK.”

Tori: “Brayden-“

Brayden: “Maybe if you didn’t cheat on Jeska, who was nothing but loyal to you, this wouldn’t have happened.”

Angelina: “Who’s Jeska?”

Tori: “You’re just a booty call, babe. Sorry to break it to you.”

Angelina: “YOU stay out of this.”

Tori: “Pretty sure you have no right to be in this conversation as much as those fake boobs sticking out of your shirt!”

Luke: “Control your fucking girl, won’t you Brayden.”

Brayden: “How bout you control your hormones, asshole”

Angelina: “I’ve had enough of this, I’M LEAVING”

Angelina leaves and slams the door on the way out. Everyone remains silent for a few.

Luke: “Way to go Tori, way to fucking go”

Tori: “Excuse me, your girl problems have nothing to do with me.”

Brayden: “Leave her out of it, this isn’t her fault.”

Luke: “Whatever. This is all bullshit.”

Luke leaves the kitchen and makes his way out of the house. So much shit is going on and I can’t help myself but to burst out in tears.

Tori: “I’m sorry Bray”

I run downstairs and hide myself under every blanket possible on our bed. And of course, Brayden followed me to cheer me up and sat next to me.

Brayden: “Please don’t cry babe. And don’t be sorry about anything that just happened. I hate to see you upset. Everything’s going to be ok, and you know why? Because I love you and I promise to stay beside you no matter what. And that includes the ups and downs and all the mistakes. I love you too much to walk away from you. Please don’t cry. And if you don’t stop, then I’ll lie beside you and hug you and comfort you until you do.”

And Brayden did just what he said. He stayed by my side and never left. He kept his arm around me and never stopped saying ‘I love you'.
