Savannah

Two.

"So what'd you do today?" Freddy asked as soon as Tyler walked back into their new condo. Freddy, Tyler's best friend, had moved with him to Dallas after the trade. It was a sore subject neither of them like talking about. They accepted it and left behind what happened in Boston.

"Little bit of shopping. Got some nice shirts from this girl's store. What about you? Register for school?"

Freddy sighed, "Yep. Lemme see your shirts. I've gotta get me some nice things for school."

"You can have two of them. I only bought them because the girl running the store was hot." Tyler chuckled.

Rolling his eyes, Freddy sighed. "Don't even get caught up, man. Focus on your game. Girls are bad news, and Texas girls are badass."

"You're not helping. Anyway, I've gotta go down to the rink for some interviews." Tyler told him, grabbing his keys and petting his dog. "I'll be back later."

Tyler drove to the rink in his black Maserati, looking out to the Dallas lights. It was nothing like Boston, and that made him a little depressed. He knew he screwed up. He took everything for granted. He just wished the organization didn't give up on him so easily, but deep down he knew he needed that. He needed a wake up call. He thought he'd be with Boston for many years to come, so the last thing he expected was getting traded to Dallas.

As much as it bugged him, he had to move on. There was nothing he can do. Boston was in the past and it was his time to shine for the Stars. He would be entering the season with a new head on his shoulders, preparing to do what was needed. He was going to play his game, and show Boston what they lost.

He parked his car and greeted the fans waiting by the entrance. There weren't many like there was in Boston, but it still made him smile. He signed autographs and took photos with each and every one of them before entering the building.

"Hey, Segs. Welcome!" Gary, one of the PR guys for the Stars greeted. "You'll be interviewed live in about 15 minutes. This will be on the news all over Dallas. Here's a list of the questions so you can prepare some answers. Don't stress, it'll only be about 3-5 minutes."

Tyler fake-grinned. Live interviews were the worst. He looked at the list and rolled his eyes. He'd answered all of these a million times.

"Mama, Daddy? I'm home!" Savannah called, standing in the foyer of their Dallas mansion. Her German Shepherd, Rocky, ran and jumped on her, greeting her with kisses.

"Where's Mama?" She whispered, kneeling down and petting his head.

Suddenly, her mother came into view at the top of their double staircase. "Honey! Oh there you are!"

"Where's Daddy?"

"He's at the Doctors, remember? He should be home shortly. Dinner should be ready in about 30 minutes, make sure to be downstairs."

Savannah nodded, walking up to her room and changing out of her work outfit into some Victoria's Secret sweat pants and a tank top. She plopped onto her bed, grabbing the remote and turning on her TV in time to watch the 5 O'Clock News.

She didn't pay much attention, she was too busy checking her cell phone. She had three messages from Abby, one from Cooper, and one from...Austin.

Austin was her ex boyfriend. The two dated for three years and broke up when he left for Georgia. She didn't hate him, but she couldn't talk to him. He tried nearly every week and she'd rarely give in. She checked her email, sighing. She had one from a company in Boston, messaging her about the chance to work for them. She was in the midst of replying until she heard the news.

"Here we have the newest addition to the Dallas Stars, our new center, Tyler Seguin!"

Her head whipped to the TV's direction and her jaw dropped when she recognized the guy from her store earlier. He sat on a stool in dress pants and a white collard shirt...one that looked exactly like the ones they sell at her Boutique.

"Tyler, tell us, how did you feel when you were traded from Boston to Dallas?"

Oh, so that's why he said Boston, she thought. Tyler sighed, trying not to get sassy with the woman interviewing him.

"It was a surprise, but I'm excited to start this new chapter in Dallas."

"You'll be playing Center here, how do you feel about that?"

Savannah could tell he was annoyed. He was stiff and kept biting his lips, trying not to look irritated. "I've grown up playing that position and I always have, so it'll be nice to get back into it."

"Are you excited to be joining the Stars' organization?"

"Very." He grinned. "I've been treated with nothing but kindness since I got here and I hear the organization is great. I'm liking Dallas already."

A few questions later, the interview ended. Everything made sense now. He's a professional hockey player, that's how he could afford those shirts. He didn't look like a hockey player. Savannah had never paid attention to hockey, so when she thought "hockey player", she pictured a big, buff, giant looking guy with no teeth and long hair.

"Sav, dinner's ready!" Her mother called. She nearly ran downstairs and smiled when she saw Cooper and Abby sitting at the table.

"Hey, do you guys know of a Tyler Seguin?" She asked, grabbing her plate and scooping some Mashed Potatoes and Corn onto it.

"Never heard of him." Abby shrugged.

"He was just on the news." Cooper said, raising an eyebrow. "Why? What's up?"

"He was in the store today. He bought some shirts and even signed up for our Rewards program." She said, feeling proud of herself. She'd never sold anything to a professional athlete.

"Well that's great, sweetheart!" Her mother cheered. "You've been doing so well at the store. It's a perfect fit for you."

"Sav, let's go to the fair!" Abby encouraged, rolling around on Savannah's bed as she put makeup on in the bathroom.

"I'd rather not be a 3rd wheel at the fair tonight!" She called back.

The plan for the girls was to spend the night together, but Savannah knew if they ended up going to the fair, Cooper would tag along.

"I swear, Savy, it'll just be you and I." She begged, getting up and leaning against the bathroom door. "C'mon, it'll be just like old times in high school. Get your short shorts on and grab your boots, let's go overload on Cotton Candy and fried food." Abby smiled, pulling Savannah's arm.

"Fried food? Sounds so...tempting."

"Let's go! I can call Carrie and Taylor and we can have a girls night!"

"They're in Houston, remember? I'll go..just me and you, though. For a little bit." Savannah smiled. Abby screamed, running to Savannah's closet and pulling out a typical fair outfit.

She threw a flannel, denim shorts, and some boots onto the bed. "We're lookin' reeeeal Southern tonight." Abby giggled. "Maybe these outfits will get us some free food."

The two girls got ready and headed down to the field where the fair was taking place. It was crowded for a Sunday night, filled with kids and adults of all ages. The country music was blasting through the speakers and everyone walked around with their food.

"Fried Caramel Apples...oh my god. I'm so in!" Abby cheered, grabbing Savannah's hand and leading her to the booth.

Abby got her caramel apple and they walked around the fair ground together. Everything looked so tasty but Savannah still was unsure of what to eat. She wasn't one to eat unhealthy all of the time, but being from Texas, eating unhealthy was in her blood. As hard as she tried, she couldn't resist southern food.

She got in line for Fried Twinkies, her all-time favorite. The line was long and miserable, but Savannah didn't mind. She loved to people watch. She looked around, evaluating people left and right until she recognized someone she'd seen far too many times that day.

"Oh shit." Tyler mumbled, turning away from where the girl from earlier was standing.

"What, man?" Freddy asked. "What the hell are you doing?"

Tyler looked at the floor, using his cell phone as a distraction. "That's the girl from earlier! The hot one from the store!"

"What!? Which one is she!?" Freddy asked ecstatically, turning around in the opposite direction. He started walking toward the direction she was in, and Tyler started to get nervous.

"Freddy! Fred! Get back here!" He called. The girl turned in his direction and their eyes met. He knew she recognized him, so he followed his friend and went to the Fried Twinkie line.

"Which one is she!?" Freddy asked when they were 3 feet behind her. Tyler punched his arm, a signal to "shut up".

He could hear her laugh like she was right next to him. Her loud, sweet laugh. He tried to ignore it, but he couldn't help but be curious about her. She was the first girl in Dallas he found genuinely attractive. She wasn't bleach blonde with huge boobs and blue eyes, she was natural. Without hesitation, he stepped behind her and tapped on her shoulder.

"Hey." He grinned. "You're from the store."

She smiled nervously, a little creeped out. "Yeah!"

"Y'all know each other?" Abby asked, stepping in.

Savannah shrugged, "He came into the store earlier. Tyler, right?"

"Yeah. I didn't get your name earlier, by the way." He smirked.

She looked at Abby then back at Tyler. "I'm Savannah and this is Abby."

"You're the one from the news! This is the guy you were talking about, right Savannah?" Abby asked, completely oblivious to the fact that she just made Savannah look like a huge creep. Savannah's muscles tensed and her face went red. She'd looked like she had just seen a ghost.

Tyler chuckled, watching her blush.

"You..you were on the news and I recognized you. I asked her who you were because I had no clue." Savannah defended, wrapping her arms around her waist nervously. "You play hockey?"

Tyler nodded. "You should come to a game sometime...if you want.."

"She'd love to!" Abby chimed in, bumping Savannah's arm. "Wouldn't you, Sav!?"

"Uh..yeah, sure." She smiled. The line moved up and Savannah ordered her food. Tyler watched as she nervously spoke, yet was the politest he's ever seen. Living in Boston, he'd seen some pretty rude people during his days.

The group talked for a while and Savannah knew she should be heading home. She had to open the store and the last thing she wanted was to be late.

"We should get going..." She told Abby, pulling out her car keys. "I have to open."

"It was nice meeting you!" Abby smiled, shaking Freddy and Tyler's hands once again. "Hopefully I'll see y'all again sometime!"

"Definitely." Tyler grinned. "See you around." He smiled, looking directly at Savannah.

"You screwed up." Freddy told Tyler as they walked around. "You should've gotten her number."

"She's not interested."

"She will be. You have to show her you're interested." Freddy lectured. Tyler rolled his eyes, he'd already explained why he couldn't date in Dallas. He didn't want Freddy shoving suggestions down his throat.

"If anything, I can go back to her store," Tyler defended. "She's a cute girl. I'm sure I'll be seeing her again."

Notes

Chapter two.

Okay, since this takes place in Texas, I'm just going to admit I'm not good at writing "southern" stuff. I'm a typical California girl...I have no idea how people in Texas act, so bare with me please! :)

Tell me what you think.
