A Special Place (Sidney Crosby)

Chapter 3

Gia's POV

Playing with the guys was fun, and I can't believe it flew by to the point where it's game time. It was only preseason so luckily I'm OK on not screwing them up. Because I'm a girl I have to shower differently, and well I'm also seventeen and still a kid. I got showered and dressed into my uniform that I got to keep and smiled at myself before putting the helmet on. I had my skates and ready to hit the ice.

I was on the bench next to Crosby and he looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, because of the whole competition practices were longer than a few days. It was few weeks and they had to postpone the game till one week. I didn't care, I got to live my dream of playing in the NHL. Even if it was through a competition. "You're OK." I snapped out of my thoughts to find Crosby talking to me. I smiled and nodded. I smiled and nodded. They put me and Crosby on the ice and I decided to show them what I was made out of. I went in and every time I stole the puck off the Bruins and went and made goal after goal. Then I stopped because everyone was silent including the fans. I was confused, I know what a Bruins jersey looked like and I was putting in the right goal. So why was everyone silent?

Sidney's POV

That girl is amazing, when everyone saw what she was doing it got silent. The fans were even silent. No one, and I mean at least as long as I was watching, going to, and playing the game was ever able to repeatedly put in the goal. And she did. She looked confused like she did something wrong. But I was smiling at her. She could be our secret weapon. It was the ending of the second period and right when we were leaving to the locker rooms the fans cheered. I smiled at her reassuring her there is nothing to be worried about. She sighed with relief. Coach told us all to sit and we did and he said. "I don't know what the hell that was out there.....but that was the best hockey playing I've seen, and you're only seventeen years old." She smiled not sure what to do. "I've got NHL teams on my phone calling me about signing you right now." She was shocked. "Now, granted if you do it, you'd have to continue school online." She smiled even bigger. I knew that she wanted to do this, but I never thought in a million years that she'd say 'Yes'. And she did. I think she's making me fall for her even more. Like Kathy is a distant memory. And I liked it. "Well," She was talking. "Two things. 1. I have to ask my mom, and 2. Only if I get to play for the Pens and Pens only. I don't care about any other team." I smiled even wider. I think all the guys did. The coach patted her on the back and Mario came into the room. "You got it, Kid." Mario was confused but jumped up and down. No, I mean literally jumped up and down and booyahed in the Bruin's coach face...It was scary....

We then heard One Direction go off on her phone. We looked at her and she looked at me. "What I'm a girl I've got an excuse to listen to them. Plus, it's catchy." she shrugged and I laughed, but then stopped immediately when I saw her face. She was crying and I ran and held her.

Gia's POV

Sidney drove me to the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and I asked a nurse about my mother Eunice. She said room 126 I ran to find it, and when I did I saw her face, she smiled at me. "I saw the game, baby. I'm so proud of you. Is that Sidney Crosby behind you?" I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, Mom That's him." She sighed and said. "Well, as long as you're doing those online classes I give you permission. Just do me a favor. And Win. That. Cup." I smiled and giggled. "I'll try,Mom." She gestured for Sidney to come over and he placed his hand in hers like they've known each other for years. "Take care of my baby for me. I want her to stay with you if she's going to be doing this." He smiled and said. "I surely will, ma'am. My house is big enough for her to stay, and she can have holidays when we can with my family. She'll be OK." I cried, he and she wants me to live with him." She held my hand. "I'm on my last breath, I know I shoulda listened when you told me to quit smoking. Now, I'm dying of lung cancer." But I'll be alright. You're with someone that'll make sure you're alright." I hugged her and cried harder. I hated seeing her like this, but it was time for her to move on to a place where the economy is never bad, there's no more shooting, and traffic, and drama. She'll be worry free. "Now, I know what you're thinking. 'She'll be worried free.' My spirit's staying behind and even when I'm in heaven I'll be worried about your hardheaded simple ass." I laughed. "I love you, Mommy." She smiled. "I love you, too. Now why don't you put your headphones on and let me say something to this one." I looked at him and I laughed. "I'm going to the cafeteria."

Sidney's POV

I pulled up a chair and sat next to Gia's mom. "I'm going to get right into it. I know you have feelings for my baby and I know she likes you back. Well of course I knew that she wouldn't shut about having to get something with your number or face on it every time we go to The Strip." I chuckled. "If you want to be with her, you can. Just wait until she's 18. Please?" I nodded. "I will don't you worry. I would never do that, but at the same time I don't-" "I'm saying not to, just wait till she's legal to rip her clothes off. It's only 60 days." I smiled and I nodded. "If you can't, at least where a damn condom I don't stress-" I turned red and I laughed. She smiled. "Take care of her. Between her and Desiree. She's been my favorite, but that's only because Desiree refused to reach out to me for 15 years. She was always there." I smiled kissed her hand. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her." I got up to get ready to leave. "Sid." I turned. "Yes, ma'am." "Get her a puppy. An English Bulldog, she always wanted one. Tell her, it's from her mom." I smiled at her. "Of, course." And left to find Gia.

Eunice's POV

I'm so proud of my baby. I never thought in a million years she'd be in the pro's and she is. I'm also glad that she's with Sidney, well hopefully because she deserves happiness. I hope even though she doesn't want one have me a granddaughter. I'd be so happy, she deserves the world, yep she does and I hope that she gets it. She better win that cup after I let do all that damn hockey or Mom's going to be pissed!

Notes

This is chapter 3...and two days later she finds out that her mom's dead. But we'll get into that more later. This Chapter was dedicated to my mom Eunice. Character based off her. She died of lung cancer, so a little realism there. I hope you enjoy. And any amount of reads is amazing, thank you!!
