Chapter Fourteen - Brother, Sister Bonding Time

*Chelsea's POV*
In a few short days, it will be Christmas. A day before Christmas however, Patrick and Stacey will be getting married. In a few short months, I'd be giving birth to my first child. Things seemed to be moving so quickly. One minute we were seven and four years old arguing over who got to play with certain toys and in the next minute Patrick's engaged and I'm pregnant. It all felt like too much right now.
Calling Patrick, I ask him if he'd like to spend the day just the two of us. Like old times, even though yes we do have three other sisters, most of the time it was Patrick and I with each other. We're only a few years apart, the closest of the five of us in age.
When he agrees, I can't stop smiling. Today would be great. It's freezing cold outside, but that's okay. I'll have my big brother with me all day. I missed hanging out with him, even though he can be a pest sometimes. I love him nonetheless.
Cleaning up a bit, I curl my hair a bit to make it look somewhat nice before telling Brittany I'll be back later. Making it down to the lobby, I'm surprised to see Patrick sitting on one of the couches waiting for me.
"How come you didn't just come upstairs?" I ask, sneaking up behind him.
"Geez Chels, way to scare the life out of me." He exclaims, covering his heart with his hand in an over-exaggerated way. "I don't know. Too much effort?"
"Lazy ass. There's an elevator ya know." I retort as I give him a hug.
"Yeah well.. you found me didn't you?" He counters, sticking his tongue out in a childish manner. Could someone please remind me how in the world this boy is twenty-five years old? I really couldn't tell you myself.
"I guess you're right. Let's go!" I say as I take a hold of his hand, pulling him towards the doors so we could leave.
"Someones anxious." Patrick teases, pulling his beanie out of his jacket pocket and putting it on, only a few blonde curls peaking out from underneath it.
I could see why the girls liked him, he had this adorable aura about him what with those baby blues and the charming smile. I always made fun of him for it as we got older though. Then he would come back at me making fun of my freckles. I happen to like the fact I have freckles so it didn't do much damage to me. Smiling, I let out a small laugh as he opens the door for me.
"What's so funny?" He asks as the door closes behind him, a confused look on his face now.
"Nothing. Just remembering the good old days when I used to make fun of you and your boyish charm." I tease, pulling my jacket closer to my body. It just had to be windy, as usual, and super cold today. As much as I love it here, I would definitely prefer living somewhere warmer, just because I probably could. I just don't want to leave my family and friends and everyone else behind.
"Yeah well, look what that boyish charm led me to. I can't believe I got so lucky." Patrick murmurs as we get into his car.
"I guess it did work." I tease, putting my seat belt on as he put the car into drive as we set off for our first destination. Navy Pier.
Yes, it is very cold out today, but one of our favorite things to do in Chicago is walk around Navy Pier and go on the Ferris wheel. Not going to lie, the first time I went on it was at night and it was extremely windy. I mean, I'm used to the wind now, but back then it was a little frightening. The Ferris wheel has this tendency to creak and the lights flash, adding to the fear I used to have of heights. Now though, I absolutely love going on the Ferris wheel.
Somehow we both managed to get inside the building on the pier without too much recognition. I absolutely loved the vendors that sold jewelry and scarves and hats there. I always found myself buying a few things from them every time I'm here. This time, I made Patrick buy some things for me. It's easy to pull his leg to buy me stuff, all I have to do is look up at him with a puppy dog face and he melts in my hand.
After we're done exploring around Navy Pier keeping close to each other to stay warm, we hop back into Patrick's car and head to a parking garage close by Millennium Park. Now, I realize I said it was pretty cold outside but that isn't about to stop us from doing our favorite thing. Skating. I also realize that I am about six months pregnant now. That isn't going to stop me from skating either.
Once we reach Millennium Park, we immediately walk over to the skate rental renting two pairs of skates. It felt weird to wear rental skates, considering we both owned our own skates but it's apart of the fun of skating here. Just to take a few safety precautions, Patrick lends me his arm to hold on to and we don't skate as fast as we usually would.
Sometime along the way of us just skating around and having fun, it starts snowing. That would have been extremely cute and romantic had I not been skating with my brother. It was pretty nonetheless.
We stop skating after a while, heading back to Patrick's car so we could warm up on the way back to his house. We had done so much today, just like we used to. Now all that was left was for us to make hot chocolate, change into our pj's and watch a movie until we fall asleep.

Upon returning to Patrick's, we walked into a very quiet house. Patrick hadn't told me Stacey was going to be gone for the next few days until just before he opened the door. No wonder he wanted to do this, he hates being alone for too long. Can't say I don't blame him though. I hate being alone too.
Taking our coats off we both go to change into our pajamas before setting in to make the hot chocolate. Being pregnant I couldn't wear my favorite onsie, but I did invest in buying a new one. In my opinion, this one might be cuter but I still prefer my other one. This one is pink, with little bunny faces on the feet and it even has a hood that looks like a bunny head. The only thing it's missing is a bunny tail on the butt.
Walking into the kitchen I find Patrick already boiling the water with all the needed ingredients to make our special Patrick and Chelsea hot chocolate. His pajamas weren't nearly as amazing as mine though. They were just a pair of Blackhawks sweat pants and an old t-shirt. Of course he would sleep in something like that.
"Nice pajamas, Chels. Easter isn't for another four months." Patrick states, raising an eyebrow at me as he pops a mini marshmallow into his mouth.
"Yeah well they're cute." I counter, crossing my arms over my chest. "And besides, who asked you?" I question giving him a pointed look.
"Whatever you say lil sis." Patrick replies, turning his attention to the screaming tea-pot. "Water's ready. Go pick out a movie and I'll bring the hot chocolate."
I nod, padding into the living room that looked more like a home theater. If you could physically pick up a room and put it in your own home, I would take this room and transfer it to Britt and I's apartment in an instant.
Picking out Happy Gilmore, a movie both of us enjoy, I put it in the DVD player letting it get to the menu as I wait for Patrick to join me on the couch before pressing play. He wouldn't have too much room if he didn't hurry up, right now I'm being a good sister and not sprawling my body out all over the couch.
To be honest though, I muchly prefer hanging out with Patrick than any of our younger sisters. Just because I'm not as girly as them. I spent more time with Patrick growing up so that might be why.
Once I'm all cuddled up under the blankets, Patrick finally enters with two steaming cups of hot chocolate. With a few marshmallows on the side, just what I like.
"I see you've made yourself comfortable." Patrick points out, handing me my cup as he sits down next to me.
"Yeah well you were taking forever." I say, giving him a look before pressing play as I let the movie start.
"Whatever, let's just watch the movie." He says, nudging me with his elbow as the opening credits flash across the screen.
We end up finishing the movie and putting in another. This time, The Hangover. Since I've never seen it before, and it's one of Patrick's favorites, he's making me watch it with him now. I do have to admit, it is quite funny and I can see why Patrick likes it so much.
Not too long after I rest my head on his shoulder do I fall asleep. Go figure halfway through the movie I would fall asleep. No big deal, he'll just make me watch the movie with him again some other time. Hopefully next time we watch this movie I'm not already half-asleep.
I really don't think we'll be having another day like this anytime soon, to be honest. He'll be married soon and I'll be with Brandon and the baby. Neither of us will have much time for that soon. The only plus side to me having little Emma is that hopefully soon Patrick and Stacey will have kids and then they can become best friends growing up. We could always leave the kids with Andrew and Brittany and then go out on double dates. That wouldn't be weird, would it? I mean, Brandon, Brittany, Andrew and I have all gone on a double date before and Brandon and Brittany are twins. My tired mind never makes any sense.
I just can't wait for the future events to unfold. I'm ready for whatever's in store for me.
