Chapter Four - One Busy, Fun-Filled Day

*Chelsea's POV*
Sensing that someone is watching me, my eyes fly open. Quickly after my eyes open, I have to blink a multitude of times that would make it seem like I was about to cry or having some sort of attack because of how bright the room had gotten. Oddly enough, I didn't remember falling asleep. I even forgot I had company that had their arm wrapped around me. It had to have been the random rain, it always made me drowsy.
Once the haze of drowsiness passes over, I remember exactly who I'm with. Sitting up straight, my expression is slightly alarmed. The last time I was left alone with Tyler bad things happened. Well, they weren't actually bad, but it qualifies in my book. We, or should I say just I, got in trouble with our parent's though, for more reasons than one though. The blood boils in my cheeks as I realize he's laughing, I can feel the couch shaking ever so slightly with his light laughter.
"Mornin' Sunshine." Tyler teases, acting as casual as ever. That's probably one thing I'm jealous about that he can do. No matter what the situation, unless it angers him, he can stay cool and collected. I, on the other-hand, will get all flustered and won't know what to say or do. It can get pretty embarrassing at times.
"How long have I been asleep?" I ask, running my long fingers through my messy blonde hair.
"Not too long, just two hours. I've been out for a good hour myself." Tyler replies sitting up and placing his stinky feet by my thigh. "Don't worry though, you didn't miss much. Just a few missed calls from Patrick and Brandon." He says, handing me my phone that must have fallen out of my pocket as I slept.
"Oh no..." I trail off, remembering Brandon told me he'd call if he wasn't busy. Even though we just went on a date last night, he wanted to do something today if he could. I wouldn't complain though, once the season starts I'd be lucky to even go on one date within two weeks with him. "I hate to cut our time short, but I have to go. How long are you staying in Chicago?" I inquire as I lift myself off of the couch, crossing the living room to get to the hall closet.
"Two weeks, don't worry about it though. We'll have plenty of time to hang out while I'm here." Tyler states, looking just a bit hurt. As I reach into the closet and retrieve my purse, I nod in agreement with Tyler.
"We'll have to go out for drinks, all of us. Brittany, Brandon, Patrick, Andrew, Stacey, Melanie, you and I." I suggest, closing the closet door and slinging my bottomless pit of a purse over my shoulder. "Sound good to you?"
"Yeah, I didn't know Brandon and Brittany were twenty-one though, I thought they were still twenty?" He questions, making me realize they are only twenty.
"Oh well, they can just have sparkling water or something." I chuckle, waving the thought past me. They'd get drinks from Patrick, well at least Brandon would. "I'll ride down with you, I don't need to change or anything, I'm just going to see my brother. You can come with actually, if you want to that is?" I suggest, Patrick wouldn't mind considering we didn't really have anything planned either. I promised I'd stop by to visit for a little bit before going out with Brandon. I guess Patrick just wanted to check up on me after last night.
"If you're sure it'll be alright, why not." Tyler replies.
With that, we exit the apartment and head downstairs to catch a cab over to Patrick and Stacey's condo.

Once we get settled in the cab, I text Patrick to let him know I'm on my way and that I have a special guest. I didn't want to tell him it was Tyler, I wanted it to be a surprise. The last time they saw each other was game six of the finals. Patrick was too busy partying and Tyler, well sulking around because his team lost. I kid, I'm not sure what he was up to, to be honest.
Once we arrive, I'm in tears. Tears of laughter. Tyler had told me a few stories about his and Patrick's trip to play hockey abroad while the lockout was happening last season, and I would definitely find some way to use them against Patrick in the near future.
Not even bothering to knock on the door, I use my own key to unlock the door and let myself in. The first thing I see is Stacey lounging on the couch with her laptop in her lap. Knowing her, she was probably consumed in wedding planning. Her and Sophia have been non-stop planning for their weddings, both of which will be happening very soon. Stacey and Patrick have a date set for January 5, 2014 while Sophia and Jonathan have a date set for May 19th, 2014. You would think Jonathan and Sophia would get married sooner than Patrick and Stacey, but both of the girls want to get married during different times of the year, but still as soon as they possibly can.
"Hey Chelsea, Brandon. How are you guys? How was the date?" Stacey asks absentmindedly without looking up from her screen.
Shifting my feet uncomfortably as she says 'Brandon', on accident of course, she just doesn't know it's actually Tyler. "Well Brandon and I's date went great, I'm actually meeting up with him after I talk to Patrick real quickly." I say, moving towards the 'man-cave' as Patrick likes to call it.
"Wait, Brandon's not with you?" She asks, still not tearing her eyes off the computer screen. After a few more clicks, she looks up turning red instantly. "Sorry Tyler, I just thought you were Brandon. How are you?!" She apologizes, thankfully not making it any more awkward than it already is.
Scoffing playfully, I find Patrick deeply immersed in a Mario Kart race. Refraining from sneaking up on him, I let him finish the track before placing my hands over his eyes. "Guess who!" I trill, trying to make my voice sound different.
"Jessica? My favorite younger sister?" He asks, not able to mask the sarcasm very well. "Way to be sneaky Chels, I saw your reflection in the TV when you walked in." He states, clearly not amused as he tugs my hands off of his eyes. He still grips tightly on my wrists as he gets up, easily lifting me off of my feet and over his shoulder.
"Why did you call me over here?" I ask, not even trying to fight back. "Oh yeah, I brought something from Boston here with me today." I add nonchalantly, as if it was no big deal or anything.
"Segsy's here?!" Patrick exclaims, almost dropping me on the floor. "Oh and I just wanted to let you know Jessica and Erica will be flying in from Buffalo to stay with you for a while. They'll be here in two days." He says, finally setting me down.
"And you just now decided to tell me this? God Patrick, sometimes I hate you." I huff, crossing my arms over my chest.
"At least I told you two whole day's before they get here. I could have told you two hours, or maybe two minutes before. Don't push your luck, especially with what I'm about to do for you." Patrick says trying to be as serious as he can be. Although I think he needs to take some lessons from Johnny in that subject. Not like I would tell him that though. Or would I?
"I guess that's true. What exactly are you going to do for me? It better not be another prank, you know how angry I get when you pull pranks on me!" I half-shout after him as he walks away from me and towards his kitchen. I follow after him, still wondering what on Earth he has planned.
"Relax Miss Prissy Pants, I'm just letting you borrow the spare car." He says, handing me a pair of keys. "You don't need to be riding in taxi's everywhere you go, my little sister's too good for that. At least, I think you are." Patrick winks as I take a hold of the keys.
Everything he just said is still being processed in my brain, even as the keys are being firmly grasped in my right hand. Before I even know what I'm doing, I wrap my arms around my favorite big brother and I start thanking him over and over and over again. I actually cannot believe he's letting me even touch this car. Of course, Stacey is the one who bought it and customized it so it is kind of girl-ish, as far as that goes for a car. It just had that feminine touch to it.
"Be careful now!" He calls out to me as I practically spring to the garage, bounding through the door in excitement.
"I will! I promise! Oh and Tyler, now's your chance to spend some quality time with my favorite big brother!" I call out to them both before hopping in the beautiful car, starting it and heading towards Millennium Park where Brandon told me to meet him.

Tyler's POV

"Hey Patrick, how've you been, aside from feeling like a two-time champion?" I ask, going in for a manly handshake-hug.
"Pretty good, how about yourself, aside from feeling like a total loser?" Patrick mimicks, "I'm kidding about that last part, by the way." He adds, flashing his signature smirk my way.
"I've been alright. Miss playin' hockey though, but October isn't that far away now." I say, rubbing the back of my neck out of habit. Stacey's words still running through my mind, as if she just said them. I had no idea Chelsea was seeing someone, and to be honest it kind of hurts. Everyone knows me as a 'player' and girls get named puckbunnies/sluts because of me. When I actually have feelings, true feelings for a girl, this happens. I guess it's what I deserve though, I waited too long to say anything.
"Dude, are you okay? You look...constipated, either that or your actually thinking about something for a change." Patrick states, giving me a weird look.
"It's just...look don't take this the wrong way, but I have feelings for your sister. Chelsea." I blurt out, hoping he doesn't get mad in any way, shape or form.
"You should have said something sooner, she's with Brandon now, dude." Patrick says, lightly patting me on the shoulder. "What is it with you and losing, Segsy?" He taunts as he opens the fridge, digging around for something. "Want anything to eat or drink?" He asks, turning to look at me for a brief moment.
"Yeah I know, I messed up big on that one." I mutter, looking down at my shoes. "You got any beer?" I ask, a smile breaking it's way free on my lips.
"Course, do you want to go play some Mario Kart, get your mind off of things?" Patrick suggests, tossing a beer can my way. I catch it, waiting a moment before I open it so I don't get sprayed by the fizz.
"Sure, anything sounds good to me right now." I reply after taking a long sip of the cold beer.

Chelsea's POV
A few hours later
- - - x - - -
After a very long day of being surprised by a visit from Tyler and finding out he'll be here for two weeks, running over to my brothers and spending the rest of the day with Brandon, I'm just glad to be home. I'm also glad I now have a car, Melanie and Brittany are the one's who have cars and we typically just use those, but when Brittany has hers and she won't be here all weekend and Melanie's out, I'm kind of SOL. I don't mind taking public transportation though, much to Patrick's dislike though. He's always thinking something bad is going to happen just because my last name just so happens to be Kane, and he's my brother. Nothing has happened yet, but I should just be thankful I have a brother as protective as him. After all, he is my only brother.
After taking a nice long, relaxing bath, I change into my pajamas even though it's only six in the evening. Any time after five is an acceptable time for me to change into my comfortable pajamas and lay around doing nothing. Actually, any time is an acceptable time for me to do that. Sometimes I just stay in my pajamas all day.
Usually, I would feel pretty lame staying at home on a Friday evening, but I don't really feel like doing anything else after the day I've had. Thankfully Melanie and Sophia understood and went out without trying to drag me with them this time. Pulling out my Mac Book Pro and lugging it with me, along with my favorite blanket, out to the living room and making myself all comfortable, someone has the nerve to knock on my door. Again. This just isn't my day to be alone is it? Unwrapping myself from my blanket and setting my Mac Book on the coffee table, I begrudgingly walk over to the door and open it. To my surprise, and relief, it's just Brandon.
"Hey, couldn't get enough of me in two days, could ya?" I tease, ushering him inside.
"Well, I could say what you want me to, but you're right." He replies, pulling me into an awkward hug. Awkward only because he's holding two big bags of items unknown to me at the moment. "Actually, Mel told me you were going to be home alone on a Friday night, and seeing how I would also be home alone, I thought we could be home alone together?"
I can't help but giggle at his analogy of us being home alone 'together'. I continue to laugh more as Brandon gives me a look like 'why are you laughing at me, I'm being serious'. I pull myself together after a minute or so though.
"Sounds like a good plan to me, what's in the bags?" I ask, curious as to what he brought with him.
"Snacks, movies, pj's to change into?" He says as he looks into the bags to make sure he got everything accounted for.
"You sound like a teenage girl whose going to a sleepover. Let me guess, Melanie told you what to bring, so you brought everything she said?" I say, taking a guess as to what really happened as I rest my hand on my hip.
"Pretty much. But I do have to say this now, before I forget, you look even more beautiful without makeup and all that fancy stuff you girls wear." Brandon says, leaning in and giving me a quick peck on the cheek. "I have some of your favorite snacks in there by the way, Melanie also told me what food to bring."
"I'll have to thank Melanie later then, and you sir, go change into your pajamas!" I demand, pointing him towards the bathroom. Laughing, he hands me the bag with the food while he takes the other one with him. Setting the bag down on the counter, I begin to empty it. Melanie definitely told him to buy some of her favorite snacks too, considering I absolutely hate Twinkies and she's obsessed with them.
"Nice pajamas." I giggle as Brandon walks towards me wearing a plain white shirt and a pair of black blackhawks sweatpants. I roll my eyes playfully before popping a small handful of popcorn into my mouth. I offer Brandon some of the popcorn, giving him one of my sweetest smiles.
"Can't say much, but they are very comfortable." He says, snatching the bowl of popcorn away from me as he retreats to the living room. "Thanks for the popcorn! Just how I like it too!"
"Before you get all settled in, we should pull the couch into a bed. Then there'll be more room and I won't have to worry about kicking you off of the couch, or falling off of the couch." I mention, skidding to a quick stop behind him. "Good idea." He says, placing the bowl down on the end table next to the couch.
After a few minutes of pulling and tugging on the couch, we get it to fold out. We also settle our disagreement on what movie to watch after a Just Dance battle, which I won, therefore I got to choose what we're going to watch. To make Brandon happier, I chose Miracle, my all-time favorite sports movie ever. Once the movie is put in and we get comfortable on the couch, Brandon turns off the lights and I get snuggled up in my blanket with the bowl of popcorn.
"You are going to share that right?" Brandon asks, laying down next to me.
"What? The popcorn?" I clarify, "Because if you want the popcorn, that isn't gonna happen." I say, trying to keep a straight face. I clearly fail though, considering he starts laughing at me.
"No, I meant the blanket actually. I won't bite, I promise." He ushers me to come closer to him, and I move over a bit with just enough room for the bowl to fit perfectly in between our bodies as he drapes the blanket over the both of us. The movie actually starts up and we both fall silent, the only sound coming from the television and the sound of us munching on popcorn and some various candy.
Before I know it, we're done with the popcorn and I'm snuggled up against his side, my head resting on his chest. I manage to stay awake throughout this movie, which I'm thankful for. We end up talking about a bunch of random things for a while before I manage to fall asleep. Fortunately we were just talking about family vacations we went on, and the pranks we've pulled on our older siblings so I don't feel as bad as I would if we were having an actual heart to heart conversation. I will admit, even though I wasn't expecting Tyler to show up today, or Patrick to lend me the car, or even Brandon to show up after we'd already spent time together earlier in the day, this entire day was pretty great. And I had a great end to the day too. I do remember one faint detail from before I fell asleep though. I had just gotten done telling Brandon about the time I swapped Patrick's toothpaste for a butt-cream and hot sauce mixture, which he found hilarious might I add. I remember how he brushed the hair out of my face and kissed the top of my head, and how nice it felt to just lay there in his strong capable arms. It literally was a great way to end my night.
