Arrival Time
Boom! I jolted awake. I guess that we had hit some turbulence. I checked the time, and it was only 4:25. I still had at least 45 minutes left in my flight. 45 minutes until I had to come face to face to my best friend. I was so nervous to see Patrick again, but I was also kind of excited. I let out a sigh and looked around me. The business man to my left was still busy typing away on his laptop. The woman to my right was crocheting a scarf. And the guy in front of me? He was still looking hot. I laid my head back against my seat and tried to fall back asleep. It was no use though; I had too much on my mind. I was excited to spend the summer in Chicago, but if things were still rocky with me and Patrick, it could be a really bad summer.
“This is your captain speaking, and we will be landing at Chicago O’ Hare International Airport at approximately 5:15 P.M. The weather in Chicago is sunny and 72 degrees. Thank you for flying with American Airlines and please fly with us again.” I had fallen back asleep, as I was woken up by the pilot talking. When we landed I gathered my stuff and I got out of there as quickly as possible. I then found the baggage claim for my flight, got my suitcase, and then texted Patrick.
>Here! I can't wait to see you again! :)
>Alright, :) I’m by the front. Sunglasses, hawks hat, and black jacket.
>Kay!
I walked toward the exit and then I saw him. He was trying, but not very well, to disguise himself from any possible fan encounters. He looked like such a dork. I walked toward him slowly, anticipating what he would say to me.
“Patty!” I smiled, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible.
“Peyt,” he said, bringing me in for a hug. He had the biggest grin on his face.
“It’s so good to see you! I missed my best friend.” I said.
“I missed you too! Let me just take your bags and we’ll-”
“I can take them, Patrick.”
“Well what kind a host would I be if I made my delicate guest carry her own luggage?” He asked sarcastically.
“Yourself,” I said, sticking out my tongue, “And I am not delicate!” I shot back.
“Hahaha good one.” He teased. He picked up my luggage anyways and we walked out to his car. He drove a Suburban, so there was plenty of room for all of my luggage. I got into the passenger seat and smiled to myself because I was ready for the best summer ever.
