Blades of Love

Chapter Twelve.

It was nearing December, Tyler’s team had started to do better and Tyler was dominating the Swiss league. He had over 20 points and had even had a four-goal night. Games had been cancelled in the NHL through the 14th of December and the All-Star game and Winter Classic had all been cancelled.
“I don’t know why they continue to drag this bullshit out! If Gary wants to be an ass he needs to just cancel the whole damn season! I mean, we would have already played almost half the season by now!” Tyler exclaimed finishing off his Coke.
“I know, baby.” Stacey replied, rubbing his back.
Tyler sighed “Well at least my team here is doing good.” Just then, Tyler’s phone rang. “Hello? Oh hey, Adam…yeah I heard. Thanks. Yeah it’s fun here. Kind of cold…Uh huh…Okay sounds good…Bye.” Tyler hung up his phone and put it back in his pocket
“Who was that?” Stacey asked
“Adam McQuaid. He plays for the Bruins.”
“Oh yeah. I think Trischa mentioned him once or twice.” Stacey smiled “Well, I’m going to take a nap…”
“Okay. Have a good sleep.” Tyler replied, giving her a kiss before Stacey headed to the room. Stacey laid down on the bed, pulling the blanket over herself and falling fast asleep.
After what only seemed like a few minutes, Tyler woke Stacey from her slumber. “Babe?”
Stacey rubbed her eyes and smiled “Yeah?”
“You hungry?” he asked, sitting on the edge of the bed
“Yeah.” Stacey laughed “I’ll make something.”
Tyler smirked “Oh? And what is my little chef going to make for me?”
Stacey smiled back “Just wait and see! It’s a surprise.”
Tyler smiled “Okay, I’ll run to the store to buy some beer…is that ok?”
“Sure.” Stacey smiled. Tyler nodded, grabbing his keys and heading out the door.
Stacey went to the kitchen and looked in the fridge. She pulled out the chicken breasts she had bought at the grocery store the day before, a lemon, and some butter. Moving to the pantry, she got out flour, some green beans and salt and pepper. Lemon chicken. Her grandmother had taught her how to make it. She put the flour in a small cake pan, sprinkling in a small amount of salt and pepper before mixing it with a fork. She washed her hands, moving onto the lemon. Stacey cut it in half and sat it on the side. She got a plate out of the cupboard and put her frying pan on the burner. She put some of the butter in that pan and started it.
She pulled one piece of chicken out of the package and ran it under the sink. After placing the pieces of chicken on the plate, she washed her hands again. Then she squeezed both halves of lemon over the chicken and grabbed each piece, coating it in flour. She started cooking the chicken in the pan just as soon as Tyler returned with a case of Miller Lite.
“Smells amazing!” he said “Need help?”
Stacey smiled “You can set the table and then cook the green beans.”
Tyler nodded. He quickly sat the table and opened the can of green beans, putting them in a bowl. He put a small amount of butter, salt and pepper on them and popped them in the microwave and set the timer. “So what is this?
“Lemon chicken. You cover the chicken with lemon juice and then coat it with flour, salt and pepper and then fry it in a pan with butter. It’s really good. My grandma taught me.”
“Awesome. It looks great.” Tyler smiled “Want a beer?”
Stacey nodded “Yes please.”
Tyler sat a beer by her plate and one by his before retrieving the green beans from the microwave. He sat them at the table and waited for Stacey to finish. After the chicken was done, Stacey placed a piece on his plate and one on her own before sitting down. “Yum.” Tyler said taking a bite and smiling.
Stacey smiled “Thanks.”
Tyler drank some of his beer and took another bite of his chicken. “Mmmm. Good.”
Stacey laughed “That good?”
Tyler nodded “Yes…very. So can I ask you something?”
“Sure, baby. What’s up?” Stacey asked finishing off her green beans.
“Well…when the lockout ends and we go back to Boston…I was wondering if you’d like to get a place with me?”

Notes

A kind of small chapter.

Comments

I just have to point out that I started reading this story and read the character Stacey's name a million times in the first few paragraphs. I don't know if you noticed it but it was a little annoying. But good story.
More is on the way:) I am writing multiple chapters at a time and uploading them when I get a chance. I do not have easy internet access, sadly, so I try to upload a few chapters at a time. I am working on chapter twelve right now:)
