You've Set My Heart Ablaze
Chapter 1-
Allison's POV:
Packing. Always a chore. At least it is when you’re a 21 year old who lived in New York City you’re whole life. I put my BMCC hoodie on and waited for Melanie to come and pick me up. Melanie had been my best friend since pre-school. We were neighbors.
I’m Allison Dawning and I was packing to move to Pittsburgh with Melanie. I threw my blonde hair back into a ponytail and sighed looking at my watch. 4:30pm. Like usual, Mel was late. Melanie was never a punctual person and I think that’s why we became friends. She is so unpunctual and I am very punctual. We’re opposites in almost every way. I am blonde, she is brunette. I am short and she is tall. I like the Mets and she likes the Yankees.
I smiled remembering how many times we’ve argued about our baseball teams. Just then I saw Melanie’s gold Focus pull into my parent’s driveway. “Mom, Mel is here!” I called.
My mother came down stairs and hugged me “Have a safe trip, honey. Call as soon as you an Melanie get to your new apartment.”
“I will, mom.” I replied hugging her back before Mel honked her horn again. For someone who was late, she sure was impatient. “Damn, Mel…”
Melanie laughed “Sorry. I’m just excited to go.”
I smiled “So am I, Mel. So am I.” In about 6 ½ hours we would be in our new home of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
James' POV:
I fumbled with my shirt button as I went to the fridge. Empty. Of course I had just returned from a quick trip to my parent’s house in Whitby, Canada. Must go shopping for food and beer. My girlfriend Jennifer had usually done my grocery shopping for me when I was gone, but since we had broken up right before I left my fridge remained empty.
You’d think an NHL player would be more responsible than this, but then again, who would leave food in an un-used fridge for 2 months? A responsible person? Hell no…so maybe I was responsible. Then again, a responsible adult wouldn’t have cheated on his girlfriend and dumping her after she confronted him about it.
I grabbed my phone and saw a few texts from the guys wanting to party. I sent a reply wanting to know when and where…if there was ever a time I needed a drink, this was it.
