The Captains

A Trip Home (part 2)

The next morning when I woke up, Jon was sitting at the small table on my computer. I rolled over to the edge, but didn't realize how close to it I actually was and rolled right of the bed and onto the floor.
"Shit." I said. I heard Jon laugh and then come over to me. He grabbed my hands and pulled me to my feet.
"You okay?" he asked, pulling me into a hug. I nodded into his chest. He pulled away and I sat in the chair opposite of him at the table.
"What're you doing?" I asked
"Emailing Sidney. Him and I need to have a little chat." he said. I nodded.
"Is that alright?" he asked
"Yeah, yeah, its fine. But don't do anything stupid, and hurt him or get yourself hurt." I said
"That's the plan." he said.
"When are you two gonna meet?" I asked
"At the Energy Center." he said. He closed the laptop then stood up.
"I'm gonna go get ready." he said, standing up. He came over to me then kissed the top of my head and went to the bathroom to shower. I grabbed the computer and checked a few of my emails. When I was done with that, I ran down to the breakfast area and grabbed a pack of cereal and a little milk carton and brought it back up. I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels while eating. A few minutes later, Jon came out of the bathroom and got dressed. He watched with me for a while before he went out.
"I'll see you later Chels." he said. I kissed him goodbye and he left.
{Jon's POV}
When I left the hotel, I went down to the car and drove to the Consol Energy Center, where Sidney and I would be meeting. Hopefully this talk would straighten things out. I pulled into the mostly empty parking lot and waited for Sidney to pull up. When he did, he pulled into the spot across from mine. I took my sunglasses off and got out. Sidney did the same, then we met and shook hands.
"Sindey." I said
"Jonathan." he said. We walked into the building and went down to the locker room. We pulled up two chairs and sat them across from each other.
"So. What're we doing here?"
" We need to chat about some things going on with you and Chels.
"Chels?" he said
"Chelsea?" I said
"I know, she never let me call her that." he said, sounding kinda dissapointed.
"Hmm. Well anyway, I know about last night." I said. He leaned back in his chair and sighed.
"Yeah, yeah. That." he said
"Yeah, that." I said back.
"Well what about it?" he said.
"It needs to stop." I said
"Well-" he started. I cut him off.
"No no no, let me finish. You need to understand that she is with me. Like I said before, you had your chance. Now its gone. And now that she's with someone else, you're trying to get her back. That's not how you do things, Crosby."
"But she left me! If she would've stayed, it would have been fine. We would have been together. Everything would be the same." he said.
"So now you're blaming it on her?" I said, my voice getting louder.
"You're saying that its her fault you and her aren't together? You're saying she would have waited for you until she was thirty-five? That she wouldn't have found anyone else here? The promise you made was 'if we're both single,' that means she can be with whomever. That is giving her permission to date, to find someone. And now that she has someone, you can't stand it." I said
"She promised me back though!" he said
"Yeah, she did! But she's still following the rules of the promise." I said. He just shook his head. We sat in silence for about two minutes.
"How dare you make her wait? A girl like her should never have to wait. You know what Sidney? You don't deserve her. I'm not saying I do either, but I do a hell of a lot more than you."
"I deserve the same as any other guy!" Sidney yelled, standing up. I stood up too, towering four inches above him.
"Oh really?" I said
"Really." he said.
"So you're telling me, that you're making her wait until she's thirty-five to get married. Making her wait for something no girl, especially one like her, should have to. Why can't you understand that?" I yelled back at him
"There isn't anything wrong with that! When the time comes, we'll be happy together. She wouldn't have made the promise if she didn't want to" he said
"The only reason she did was because she loved you. Now she loves me." I said coldly. Sidney looked up at me angrily, then he came at me. He pushed me up against the wall, but I was able to to tackle him down. His shirt was bunched up in my fists and I was holding him down.
"She's mine now. Stay away." I said through clenched teeth. I held him down for a few more seconds, and then got up and walked out of the locker room and then out of the building. I got back into the car and drove back to the hotel. When I got there, Chelsea was napping on the couch. I changed into gym shorts and a t-shirt, left her a note saying where I was going, and then went down to the gym to lift some weights and run so I could blow off some steam.
{Chelsea's POV}
After Jon left, I had been texting my mom and Benni about going and getting lunch, but then fell asleep. When I woke back up, I saw a note from Jon on the table. He was down in the hotel gym. I went to the bathroom and brushed out my hair then checked my phone. 3 missed calls from my mom, 2 texts from Benni, and 1 text from Sidney. I texted my mom and Benni, telling them I fell asleep. Sidney's text was asking me if him and I could talk. I told him we could at the father's day cookout we would be having at my mom's house the next day. He agreed and then my mom called again.
"Do you want to go out for dinner?" she asked.
"Not really. Jon and I need to talk and are probably going to go out. I'll come over for the cookout a little early though." I said
"Alright sweetie. I'll see you tomorrow." she said
"See ya mom." I said. she hung up. I set my phone down and picked up my laptop and messed around on it for a while. A little later, Jon came back up.
"Hey." he said as he walked in the door.
"Hey." I said back. He came over and kissed me.
"I'm gonna go shower. What are you thinking about for dinner?" he asked
"There's this really good steakhouse place. Wear khaki shorts and a nicer shirt." I said
"Sounds good. I'll tell you about everything then." he said
"I'm gonna shower too." I said.
"Alright, I'll be quick." he said
"Or we could just save some water." I said with a smirk.
"There's a reason we're together." he said, pulling me up. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He picked me up and carried me into the bathroom. Later, when we were both cleaned up and ready, we went down to the car and I entered the restaurant's address into the GPS for Jon. We drove there and parked then went inside and were seated. The hostess made sure to be extra flirty with Jon on the way to our table. A few minutes later, we ordered our drinks and food and then got to talking.
"So what happened between you and Sidney?"
"Well, I told him what was on my mind. Which of course, he had a problem with." he said
"What was on your mind?" I asked
"That he needed to realize that you're with me and he can't do anything about that. He also kept saying that is was your fault you guys aren't together, that you left him." he said. This hurt me. I looked down at the table.
"I told him that you shouldn't have to wait on anyone, and someone should jump at the chance to be with you." he said. I nodded and wiped a single tear that was about to escape my eye.
"Thanks Jon." I said with a small smile. He smirked back and then took a sip of his beer.
"You okay?" he asked with a concerned face. I forced another smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said. He left it there and we moved our conversation to other things. Our food came a little later, we ate and then left. When we got back to the hotel, I changed into a big sweatshirt and Nike shorts then layed down with Jon on the couch. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.
"I know you're not okay." he said. I sighed.
"Well, yeah." I said, unsure of what else to say.
"Was it something I did? Or something Sidney said?" he asked
"Well, I am upset about what Sidney thinks about the promise and everything, but I'm just sick of going back and forth with him. And I feel like I'm hurting you whenever him and I are on good terms." I said. He hugged me a little tighter to him.
"Trust me, I'm not worried about him taking you away from me. It just pisses me off that he wants to now that you're with me." he said. I nodded.
"I'm talking too him tomorrow at the cookout. Hopefully this can all be over." I said
"Yeah. Have you gotten your dad a father's day gift yet?" he asked.
"Fuck." I whispered. "We'll have to do that before we go over there tomorrow." I said
"Sounds good." he said back.

We went to bed about an hour later, but I couldn't sleep. My mind was still racing from what Sidney said and what was happening between us. I let him lead me on and I didn't even realize it. Maybe if I had never moved, this wouldn't be happening.

The next morning, Jon and I got up and got ready. We went down and ate breakfast then left the hotel. We drove around for a while, trying to find something for my dad. A while later, we decided on Dick's Sporting Goods. My dad liked to golf, and I had heard him talking about getting a new set of clubs. We went to the golf section and since Jon knew more about golf than I did, he picked a set. We brought it to the counter and paid then went to my dad's house. We parked and went inside, setting the clubs down. We then went out to the backyard. My parents and Benni were sitting at a table under an umbrella and my brother and Sidney were sitting on the edge of our pool and watching Jared play in the water on the stairs. Jon and I got some beers and joined my parents and Benni and talked for a while. A few of my aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends showed up too. A little later, David came over and asked Jon to help him with the grill. He agreed and they got started. I glanced over at Sidney, who waved. I gestured inside with my head and he nodded. We went inside and to my kitchen.
"Sidney, this has to stop." I said
"I agree." he said
"So stop." I said
"Stop what exactly?" he asked. I sighed.
"Trying to get inbetween my relationship. Jon told me what happened yesterday, and I wasn't to happy." I said. He crossed his arms and leaned against the fridge.
"I can't help how I feel." he said
"I know that, but you can't come to me and say what you said when I'm in a good relationship." I said.
"What else did he tell you?" Sidney asked
"What you said about our promise. That you're just fine with making me wait until I'm thirty-five. That we'll be happy, when the time comes. Why wouldn't be happy now? Tell me that Sidney." I said. He was quiet for a few seconds.
"I- I don't know Chels." he said.
"What did you just call me?" I asked, setting my beer down on the counter.
"Chels." he said
"Don't call me that." I said
"He does!" Sidney said, his voice a little loud.
"That's the point! It's something between us." I said back, at equal volume
"Did he tell you anything else?" he asked
"No. But I realized something Sidney. You lead me on, you made a fool of me with that promise. Making me wait until then to just marry you. What if I want children? I'm supposed to wait until then for kids and marriage?" It wasn't a fair deal." I said.
"The thing that hurt me the most was why you didn't want to be with me in the first place." I said, my eyes starting to tear up.
"I don't understand Sidney? Do you?" I said. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair.
"No, no I don't." he said. I nodded. "And I'm sorry. I didn't realize what I really was taking away from you, or me I guess." he said. I nodded. Both of us were silent for a few minutes.
"Are we good?" he asked
"Yeah. We're good." I said.
"Come here." He said. I smiled and we hugged, then joined everyone else outside again. I talked with my other relatives who I don't see a lot. When Jon and David were done with the food, my mom and I went inside with them and got out the plates, chips, and other toppings. A few minutes later, everyone came in and fixed their food. Some went back outside and some stayed inside. Jon and I went outside and sat on the porch swing so we could talk just us two. It was a little separated from everyone else.
"So what did you guys talk about?" he asked
"I just let him know how I felt about him and what he said."
"Are you two okay now?" he asked
"Yeah, I guess. I just hope it stays that way." I said
"Yeah. You let me worry about him next time he does." Jon said with a smile and nudging my arm with his elbow. I smiled back and we finished eating. About an hour later, the other relatives of mine left and it was just my brother, Benni, Jared, my parents, Jon and me left. We gave my dad his gifts and hung around for a while after. Later though, Jon and I left. We got back to the hotel and packed most of our stuff up, we'd be leaving tomorrow afternoon. We went to bed early and talked for a while before falling asleep.

The next morning, Jon and I got up and packed up the rest of our stuff. We checked out of the hotel and loaded all of our stuff into the car then met my family at a restaurant for breakfast. When we were finished, we went over to Schenley park and walked around for a little while. Jared pointed out a swing-set, so we went over there and let him swing. Jared got on one and Benni and David took turns pushing him.
"Hey Chels, let me push you." Jon said with a smile
"Really Jon." I said
"Yes, go." he said, slapping my butt. I playfully slapped his arm.
"We are with my parents." I said quietly.
"Eh, there not paying attention. Now go sit." he said laughing.
"Fine." I said. I sat on the swing next to Jared and Jon came behind me and pushed me. I got going pretty high and Jon came around to the front and watched me.
"Jump out, I'll catch you!" he said.
"Jon, I am 23 years old." I said back.
"Do it Chelsea!" my brother said, my parents agreeing and telling me to do so as well. I sighed and rolled my eyes and lowered my height a little. I counted to three and then jumped out of the swing. Two seconds, I crashed into Jon and we fell on the ground. We both laughed and stayed sitting in the grass for a while.

{Sidney's POV}
This morning when I got up, there was a text from Chelsea's mom on my phone. I opened it and it said they would be going to Schenley park and if I wanted to see Chelsea before she left, to meet us there. She also said it make it seem like a coincidence. I got out of bed and ate a quick breakfast then changed into running shorts and a t-shirt. I left my condo and then made my way down to my car then to the park. I parked and then asked where they would be. She told me the swings just off the main path. I put my Ipod on my arm-strap and started the music and put my earphones in. I got on the path and then started my run towards them. When I got about 300 feet from them, I saw Jon pushing Chelsea on the swing. I slowed down and watched for a minute. Then, I saw her jump out to him, and him laying with her in the grass, his arms wrapped around her. I took my earphones out and watched for a minute, thinking that could be me. I could have been the one to catch her, to be holding her.

{Chelsea's POV}
Jon and I got up from the grass and joined my parents on a picnic table. Jared came over and held his arms up to me. I picked him up and set him on my lap. Benni and David joined us a few minutes later. Then, my mom waved at someone.
"Sidney!" she said. He came over to us and said hey to everyone. My dad told him to sit, and he joined us at the table. All of us hung for about an hour and then Jon and I had to get to the airport. All of us stood up and said our goodbyes and hugged one another. Sidney was the last person to come to me. He wrapped his arms tightly around me and held me there for a while.
"I'm gonna miss you Chels." he said into my hair
"You'll be fine. We'll see each other soon." I said. He pulled back and smiled down at me.
"Bye Chelsea." he said
"Bye Sid." I said back. Jon came over to me and we said bye to everyone one more time. We turned away and then made our way back to the rental car. We went to the rental car service and returned the car then took the shuttle to the airport. We checked our bags and went through security then to our gate. We had about two hours before our flight boarded, so we went to a restaurant near the gate. We hung out in the restaurant until we had about 15 minutes before we were supposed to get on the plane. When our group was called, we got on and went to our seats. Jon sat in the window seat and I was in the aisle seat. When we got into the air, I leaned on Jon and fell asleep. He woke me up when we were landing. We waited for most everyone else to get off and then got our stuff down and left. We got our bags and found Jon's car then went back to our apartment. When we got back, I called my mom and Cassie to tell them I was home. When I was done with that, I changed into more comfortable clothes and Jon and I went up to the roof.
"Did you have a good time?" he asked, putting his arm around me.
"Yeah, for the most part. You did though right?" I asked
"Yeah, I just hope that Sidney gets the message." he said
"Hopefully." I said. We were quiet for a while, just taking in one another.
"I love you." he said after a while.
"I love you too Jon." I said back. He leaned in and then kissed me long and hard. We stayed outside for a while, not talking about anything important and sneaking in kisses. When we did go inside, we went straight to our bed and I fell asleep wrapped in Jon's arms.

@Sidster87
I am so thankful you pointed this out. There's a chapter here that isn't showing up when I click on it, even though I uploaded it. Something happened in that chapter where Chelsea ends up in the hospital. Ill rewrite it and get everything worked out. Once again, thanks so much for saying something.

I'm a little confused. Reading the last chapter Jon was saying when she was in the hospital. I don't remember her going to the hospital. I read all the chapter twice. Am I missing something? I love the story, but I am confused.
