Oh Captain, My Captain (Sidney Crosby)

Oh Captain, My Captain (Sidney Crosby) 106:

Chapter One Hundred Six

-Ovechkin-

I cursed as Conners started to fall to her knees. I caught her and she fell limp in my arms, the creep had stabbed a needle into her neck, and whatever was in that syringe, was now flowing throughout Conners’ body.

“Don’t let him go!” I growled and then looked over to see that the door to the other office was broken down and some of the Penguins ran in and looked around the torn apart office, “Crosby!” I yelled when I saw him and he looked up and saw that I was holding Conners.

“Alex!” he yelled and then ran over towards us and then knelt down in front of us, “What happened?”

“Sid! It’s that creep!” Crosby heard and then turned around to see that some of my team was holding him down.

“He just stabbed Conners in the neck with this,” I said and held out the needle.

“What is it?”

“A needle,” I growled, ‘…What are you stupid?...’

“I know that asshole! What was in that?” Crosby glared and I glared back.

“How the hell am I supposed to know?!” I snapped and then looked up to see some EMTs rushing into the room and taking Conners.

-Sidney-

“Sid, it’s her mom! It has to be!” Marc yelled from the passenger seat and I nodded my head knowing that he was right.

“Whatever was in that needle, its hurting Alex!” I heard Doc say as he just got off of the phone with someone, “She’s seizing.”

“What does that mean?” I asked as I drove down the streets of Pittsburgh, trying to make it to the hospital to find out if Alex is all right.

“It means her heart is stopping!” Doc said and I gripped the steering wheel, “Who was that guy?”

“Don’t know, worry about it later,” I growled as I ran a red light and pulled into the hospital parking lot and parked my car and ran out, completely forgetting to turn my car off and taking the key with me, luckily that’s what Marc was for.

“Alexandra Conners!” Doc barked as we got to the front desk.

The lady typed on her computer and then looked like she was reading something over. She clicked on something and then looked back at us, “She’s in the ICU.”

I cursed and then clenched my fists and heard my phone going off. I looked to see that it was Mel calling me and I really didn’t want to deal with this so I let it go to voicemail, ‘…Every god damn time! Every freakin’ time I get her back, something happens!...’

“She’s a fighter, Sid,” Marc said as he placed his hand on my shoulder, “She’ll be all right.”

“Is she? This is worse than before,” I muttered and he sighed, “This guy did more damage to her than Lucic.”

“I know,” Marc said and I looked up to see the team running in.

“How is she?” James asked as Mel and Sam ran up behind them.

“She’s in the ICU,” Marc answered and I growled and then punched the wall, leaving a nice hole in a hospital wall.

“Take it easy, Sid!” I heard and then felt the guys grab my arms and try to calm me down because I was causing a scene.

“I wanna tear this guy apart!” I growled, venom dripping from every word.

“I know, some of the Capitals had a good grip on the guy when we left to come here,” Pascal said as he walked up to me.

“The cops showed up when we were leaving,” Eric said as he and Kris nodded their heads.

“Is like last March all over again,” Kunitz muttered and I growled and nodded my head.

“I’ll call Brandon,” Mel said and then walked off, taking her phone out and calling Alex’s cousin.

“Does her dad know?” James asked and I looked to see that he was looking down at Sam.

“I don’t think so, I’ll call him,” Sam said and then walked off.

“It was her mom that set this up, wasn’t it?” Kris asked as he walked over towards me and I nodded my head.

“It has to be,” I growled, “We all saw her this morning, she was talking to this guy, and then suddenly he attacks Alex.”

“Don’t forget she handed something to him,” Max said and I nodded my head.

“Conners!”

We all turned around and saw a nurse standing there staring at all of us wide eyed.

“Is she all right?!” I begged and the nurse sighed.

“Take a breath, Sid,” Doc said as he pushed my back and I felt the guys put their hands on my shoulders.

“Your girl had latrotoxin spreading throughout her body,” the nurse said and I shook my head.

“I don’t understand, what is latr- latrot- whatever,” I growled and Doc pulled me back from getting in the nurse’s face.

“It’s a high-molecular mass neurotoxin,” she explained but I still didn’t get it.

“Venom,” I heard and turned around to see Beau Bennett walking up to us, “You’re saying she was poisoned by venom?”

“Venom? What kind of venom?” I asked confused.

“There’s only one thing that I know has that kind of venom,” Bennett said and I looked at him.

“Well spit it out!”

“A spider,” the nurse said and I looked at her.

“A spider?” I asked confused.

“A black widow spider,” Doc said and Bennett nodded his head.

“Sid, remember Ovechkin said that the guy stabbed her in the neck with a needle,” Kunitz said and I looked at him and it clicked.

“That prick poisoned Alex,” I growled and clenched my fists.

“A black widow has deadly poison, is she gunna be all right?” Bennett asked and I turned around after hearing the word ‘deadly’.

“We got it out just in time, so she’ll live,” the nurse said and I sighed in relief, “But there are other issues.”

“Issues?” the guys and I asked.

“She has four broken ribs, a sprained wrist, a sever stab wound in her leg, a concussion and I’m sorry, but we weren’t able to save the baby.”

My eyes widened and everyone’s mouths dropped to the floor, “B-Baby? I’m sorry, did you say baby?”

“Yes. Oh, I’m sorry, did you not know? I mean, she might not have even known, she was only four to five weeks along,” the woman explained and I seemed to have lost my breath and collapsed to my knees.

“Sid!” I heard and tried to do the math in my head.

‘…New years…’ was all I thought, that was five weeks ago, and I closed my eyes. I mentally cursed as I thought back to see if I had used a condom, but couldn’t. We both had alcohol in our systems, and we were both excited to be back in each other’s arms, so I couldn’t remember if we had protected sex, ‘…I guess we didn’t…’

My whole body was shaking, everything was happening so fast, I felt like I couldn’t breathe.

-Sam-

I shook my head as I looked at her bruised and bagged up body. I place my hand on her arm and sat down next to her bed.

“Doc, what about hockey?” I heard James asked in the corner of the room.

“Son, I think she’s finished.”

“She’ll be back next season then?” Max asked and I looked up to see Doc shaking his head ‘no’.

“Her career might be over,” he said and all the guys were staring at Doc and had an angry look on their faces.

Sidney was across from me holding her casted hand and gluing his eyes to her body, not moving an inch as the guys talked about Alex.

“You’re wrong,” I heard and looked to my side to see Mel at the foot of her bed. She looked up towards Doc and the guys, “You’re wrong.”

“Miss, look at her-“ Doc started but then stopped when Mel snapped her head towards him and glared.

“You don’t know Alex like I do,” she growled and I saw the tears coming down her eyes, “Alex is a fighter! She’s going to be back! I’ve known her all my life, Alex is going to be fine, and she’ll be there to win the cup with you boys!”

I didn’t know if what Mel was saying was true, but it was definitely giving the guys hope, something that they desperately needed.

There was a knock at the door and I looked up to see that some of the Capitals were standing in the doorway. For once in Sidney’s life, when he saw Alex Ovechkin standing by him, he did not glare, he did not spit out any nasty comments, he stood in front of him and shook his hand and thanked him for helping our Alex.

‘…You’re going to be all right, Alex…’
