Michigan born and raised, Montana Cunning grows up on an ice rink, the youngest of four, the only girl. Raised in a house of men and tempered on skates, she learns that there's nothing that she can't do. Even make the NHL.
This story features: making friends with Patrick Kane, several series of bad choices, falling in love, more poor choices, heartbreak, victory, extremely lucky circumstances, second chances, growing up, falling short, learning to forgive, and above all: being a badass female hockey player.
A/N: SERIOUS apologies to Mike Ribero. Poor guy got turned into a girl for the banner and you can barely tell. But, you know. Sorry Ribero. You're kinda short. This story follows timelines TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITIES, until the beginning of the 20(12)13 season with the addition of the main character. DEFINITELY diverges from canon around January 8th (or so) of 2013. It is complete. There are several companion pieces. I apologize to any and all brain cells harmed in the making and honestly, I can't believe I WROTE an actual 'girl in the NHL' fic. But, here ya go. This thing has been my baby for three months or something.
Pairings: OFC/Kaner (very brief), OFC/Tazer (very brief), OFC/Tanger (very brief), OFC/Helmer, Kaner/Tazer. Everyone has such predictable nicknames. No other overt pairings.
Warnings: Helmer goes ooc for a bit, but I hope it sounds reasonable. I thought so. There's death of a family member in here, too. So, if that's not your bag, don't even click on the first chapter. Seriously.
