Make It There

Kari

"Now where are you going?" I asked Pekka, who was putting on his gray coat after breakfast.
"I'm gonna see that nice guy again."
"Hm." I was curious about this 'nice guy.' I didn't want to be snoopy or anything, but he seemed fishy. "He hadn't given you the place yet?"
"We're gonna make the final...How do you say it?..." Pekka thought for a moment. "...Final agreement, final meeting, final...Yea, you get it, right?"
I nodded my head. "Yea. But is it okay for me to come with you?"
"Oh." Pekka rose his eyebrows. "Now you want to join me?"
"Is that okay with you?"
He shrugged. "Sure. I don't blame you if you're bored here."
"Okay, thanks." I got up from the table and pulled out a black coat from the small coat closet and slipped it on.
We hopped into Pekka's famer-like truck and took off.
About thirty minutes later, we arrived at a...harbor. Not the harbor that I went to many times, just a harbor that was close by to Pekka's house.
Pekka got off and I followed him. We got onto a speed boat with someone in it.
The guy who was going to drive the speedboat nodded his head in agreement for some reason and sped off with us into the ocean.
About fifteen minutes later, we arrived at the...
Oh man, you GOT to be kidding me...
Yea, you could've gussed it when I mentioned 'harbor' and 'speedboat.' Yup, we arrived at the island.
The island.
"So, this is where the 'nice guy' is at?" I asked Pekka when we got off.
"Yup." Pekka smiled at me.
"Oh..."
Pekka's smile dropped. "Wha? What's so bad about this place?"
"No, no, it's nothing..." I looked around, avoiding Pekka's face as we entered the building.
A long white hallway was spread out before us.
I felt my insides getting all sick and twisted, full of bad memories and thoughts.
Ugh.
I started to think that this wasn't a good idea and that I should just call it a day and leave. But what could happen when Pekka's by my side? He cares for me, right?
So pushed my fears aside and continued on with Pekka.
Nothing bad could happen, not when I'm with someone else...
"Well, hello, Pekka!" someone called out to Pekka, interrupting my thoughts.
I looked striaght ahead and saw him, giving Pekka a hug.
Him.
The guy with blond hair.
The guy at the bar.
The guy who makes my dreams turn into nightmares.
Him.
"Well, well , well, look who we have here!" The blond dude walked up to me. "Isn't it Tuukka Rask?" He patted my shoulder. "It's nice to see you again."
"Yeaaa... Nice to see you, too..." I forced out.
"Honey, the meeting room is ready," someone called to the blond dude.
Pekka, the blond dude, and I looked at who just talked.
It was that lady. The lady who ruined my relationship with Bebe.
Okay, now this is a nightmare...that is actually real. Remember...Pekka is by my side...Nothing bad could happen...
"Okay, thanks, sweetie," the blond guy told the lady. "I'll be there."
The lady nodded and walked away.
"Sorry, that's my wife, Abbe. She's just helping me out."
I felt my face turn pale. She's married? To him?! Oh man, this is going horrible.
"Wait, Pekka..." The blond guy turned to Pekka.
"Yes?"
"Do you mind if you just wait for a few seconds?"
Pekka made a confused look. "Oh...uh...sure..."
"Okay, thanks; my guards will take care of you." The blond guy turned to me. "And I will like to speak with you, Rask."
"Me?" I blinked at bit.
"Yea, you." The blond guy placed his arms around my shoulder and led me through the hallways and into the meeting room.
It was a room with a huge window on the other side, showing the beach. It had a big, brown, wooden table in the midde with many black chairs surrounding it.
The blond guy walked all the way to the other side of the room and sat in the chair that was facing the door. I sat on the chair farthest from him.
"Aw, don't be scaried!" The blond guy chuckled a bit. "Sit right here!" He patted on the chair that was closest to him.
With a sigh, I got up and sat on the chair he wanted me to sit on. The only the that was between him and I was the edge of the table.
"So..." The blond guy looked at me with his blue eyes. "You know who I am, right?"
"Uhhh...I recongize you... But I don't know who you are..."
"Okay. Well, I'm Kari Lehtonen. And of course, I know your name."
"Yea..."
"We met...a few times..."
A few? "Oh..." I made a confused look. "Last time I checked, we only met once." I chuckled. "Unless..."
"I have a big impact on your life. Even more than you think." He winked.
"But I only met you--"
"Shh, shh, shh." Kari was about to place his finger on my lips, but I turned away from him. "You'll see... You'll see."
"Wha-what do you mean? I mean--" I groaned. "I'm confused."
"I know what you are looking for."
"Oh..." I chuckled. "So you claim that you have a 'big' impact in my life and you know what I'm looking for?" I leaned back on my chiar. "Okay then, Kari, what am I looking for?"
"You're looking for your friend, Jonathan Quick."
I blinked in surprisement. "Whoa... How-how--"
"And I know where he is, because I was the one who took him away."
"So you're the person behind all this!" I got up quickly from my chair. "You're the one who gave me powers, you're the one who's been giving me nightmares, you're the one who ruined my rela--"
"Whoa, whoa, Tuuks, calm down; let's not put the blame on anyone now!"
"Don't call me that," I growled. "My wife only calls me that." I looked down at Kari with a mean look.
"Well, first off, it isn't my fault that you and wife are at a horrendous state with your guys's relationship--"
"How?!" I roared. "How?! You were the one who gave her the idea, right?"
Kari smiled. "You were the one who gave in...right?"
I sighed. He did have a point. I sat back down, feeling defeated. "Can you...can you tell me where Jonny's at so that, um, y'know, I can get him and I can leave--"
"No."
I gave Kari a bewildered look. "Wait, what?"
Kari shook his head. "No."
"But, but...he's my friend. You don't even know him!"
"Don't worry, Rask, he's in fine hands with me." Kari patted my shoulder again, but I swept his hand off.
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why me?"
"It's a long story--"
"Why did you give the powers to me?"
"How'd you know that?" Kari smirked. "Hm?"
"It's obvious. I'm not stupid. You walk to the bar, and next thing I know I'm in a lab. You appear in my dreams, bad stuff happen. All my problems point to you."
Kari nodded his head. "You're good at observing stuff."
"So can I get Jonny back?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Don't ask me why."
"What are you gonna do with him?"
"You don't have to know."
"He's my friend."
"So what?"
"So what?!" I got up abruptly. "That's it, I'm going nowhere with you." I began to walk out of the room.
"Hey!" Kari shouted at me. "Where are you going?"
"Where else?" I turned around, giving Kari my dark look. "I'm gonna find Jonathan myself." I turned back around and continued walking.
"NO!"
I felt a huge, warm force hit my back, which made me slide onto the hard, cold tile floor. I got up, rubbing my cheek that got all the friction; I looked at Kari, who was out of the room and did not look happy one bit.
"You are not going to ruin my plan. I need Jonathan." Then a blast of bright yellow energy shot out from Kari's hand, aiming towards me.
I thought what to do to avoid it, but it was quicker than my thoughts and it hit me, slamming me into the wall.
"Wow, wow, wow..." Kari shook his head, walking up to me. "You do even know how to use your powers. Tsk, tsk, tsk, what a shame."
I just threw a punch at Kari, making him stumble to the ground.
I jumped on him and told him in his ear, "Who are you to say--"
Then a sharp, painfully headache pierced through my head; Kari shoved me off of him, making me fall onto my knees.
I heard Kari get up. "You do not want to mess with me."
I couldn't respond back because of the pain that was swarming in my mind. Why did I have such a horrible headache?!
Kari turned around and walked away. "I'll talk to you later...when you get your act straight."
I wanted to leave.
Now.
With all of my strength, I got up and began to run down the hallways; the pain immediately disappeared.
Interesting.
But I couldn't leave without Pekka.
Aiy, gosh. Where could he be?
I ran down the hallway, looking both to my right and left for Pekka.
Finally, I found him talking to some guards just before Kari got to him.
"Come on, Pekka, let's go." And without his permission, I grabbed his wrist and dragged him with me, towards the exit.
"Mitä?!" Kari shouted at me. (What?!)
"Tuukka, what the heck are you doing?!" Pekka cried.
I turned around, facing Kari. Since my right hand was occupied with Pekka's wrist, I just had an assumption that my left hand could also turn into a gun. I quickly pointed my hand at Kari, but instead of it turning into a gun, a blue energy disc shoot out, almost slicing Kari in half; it just charred the walls with black lines since it was quite big and disappeared into the hallway.
What the...
I just shook it off and dove out of the building, got on to a speedboat and drove off with a puzzled Pekka.
Yea right nothing bad could happen when you have someone by your side.
So not true.
