Make It There

Waves

The refreshing breeze of the ocean whipped through my dark brown, curly hair as Henrik and I were taking a brisk walk on the sidewalk, right next to the beach.
"You know what's my favorite place here?" Henrik asks me.
"What is it?"
"Follow me."
I followed him down the sidewalk and turned left into a narrow area, which was narrow because the city was doing construction right next to the sidewalk, and down some concrete stairs; in front of us was a bridge.
It wasn't a long bride, I was able to see the end of it. Below on the left side were the roaring waves crashing on the pillars that held the bridge and to the right were lazy seals. That's right, sleeping seals.
"The seals can be pretty entertaining," Henrik told me, walking down the bridge. "But don't expect them to balance a ball on the tip of their nose or anything."
"Hm."
"The ocean is pretty wild over here." Henrik looked down, holding on the railing for safety. "Take a look."
I looked down at the ocean. "It is pretty wild."
Henrik nodded his head and began to walk towards the end.
"Wait, what are we doing here again?"
"We're clearing our heads."
"Right." I did need my head cleared out.
I began to walk towards Henrik when I felt the bridge creaking a bit. I froze in fright.
"Tuukka, you okay?"
"I just felt the bridge moving."
"Must be a big wave."
"I think we should leave..."
"Don't be afraid! Come on."
I felt the bridge moving again; this time, with more impact. "Did you feel that?" I had my shoulders crouched forward like a hunchback; my heart was pounding loudly.
"Yea..." Henrik bit his lip. "I think we should get go--"
BAM!!! SNAP!!!
The bridge began to tip over towards the left side, edging closer to the ocean.
The force brought me to my knees; I began to slide down the wooden flooring, getting splinters. I held on to the medal railing with my hands and feet; at least I was still inside the bridge. "Henrik!!!" I yelled over the creaking and crashing of the waves and bridge. "You okay!?!"
"I lost my shoe!" he shouted back to me.
I tried to lean forward to catch a glimpse of Henrik, but I was afraid that the bridge would fall when I was looking at Henrik. "Just try to get out of here!!!"
"Wow, wow, wow! Easier said than done, Rask!!!"
"The bridge isn't moving! Take the--"
I should've had said that. With one sickening snap, the bridge collapsed.
Ohhhhhmyyyyygoshhhhhh...
I threw myself out of the bridge so that I wouldn't get caught between the railing and get squash to death. I dove into the cold, salty water. I swam up to the surface, sputtering and coughing while doggie paddling since I was such a bad swimmer. "Ack!" I turned around, looking for Henrik, but the waves took me under. I pushed myself back up. "HENRIK!!!"
"Hey!" Henrik's head popped out from the surface.
"Hey?! We were almost about to die and all you can say is 'hey'!?!" I yelled.
"Whoa, whoa, Tuukka, it's okay. We just need to swim to shore."
"Easier said than done there, Lundqvist," I spat. I held on to his arm, trying to not let the waves take me under again.
Then I felt a force in the water trying to pull me under.
"Tuukka, let go! You're gonna make me drown!!!"
"It's not my fault! I think something caught me!"
"LET. GO!!!"
Then literally the water spurted up towards to the sky in huge amounts, like a fountain. In the water, I saw an outline of a person.
I knew it someone was behind all this.
The fountain parted and the person was revealed.
Antti.
No. Way.
"ANTTI!" I screamed like a crazy person. "Mitä hittoa sinä teet?!" (What the heck are you doing?!).
"What the, what the?!" Henrik looked at me weirdly. "Why are you speaking Finnish?"
"Why you have a problem with that?"
"I just never knew--"
A blast of water coming from Antti hit Henrik square in the chest, pushing him into the water.
I looked back at Antti. I immediately knew that this was not him, but Kari.
I turned my hand into a gun and started shooting at him.
Shoot, shoot, shoot!
Antti just extinguished the shots with his water powers.
"Antti!" I yelled again. "Kuuntele minua!!!" (Listen to me!!!)
"Hän ei ole täällä," Antti answered back calmly. He began to form a huge water ball between his hands.(He is not here.)
I frantically tried to find something magnetic in him, but there was nothing magnetic on him.
Antti was about to blast it at me, but then he just stared at me with his bright, blue eyes.
"Antti?"
Then he just fell into the water. Just like that. Like he was...dead.
"I did it!" Henrik came back up, spraying water everywhere. "I got him!"
"You got Antti back?" I asked him excitedly.
"No, I just drove Kari out. But he'll come back soon. Let us go before he reactivates him."
