Chapter Eleven

"Oh Julie! You look so um-" Allie started as she looked at the outfit that she had created.

"Am I dressed right?" I asked confused.

"Tyler gave me a hint that Sidney was taking you someplace and that you should probably dress warm."

"But is this really the outfit? I'm practically wearing a snowsuit!" I said and then laughed.

"Um, I don't know, let me ask Tyler, maybe he'll know the exact plans," Allie said and I nodded my head.

Within a few minutes Allie came back in with a smile on her face, "Ok, what am I wearing?"

"You'll see!" she said and then came back in with some clothes, "Put these on!"

I put on a heavy cream colored button up shirt, with some dark wash jeans, brown belt with some matching color heeled boots. Allie handed me my black winter button up jacket and a purple lacy scarf and a matching purple slouchy beanie.

"Oh Julie! That's the outfit!" she said and I smiled and nodded my head, "Now quick, let me do your hair and you'll be good to go!"

"All right," I said and Allie loosely curled my hair and then left it down and put the beanie on my head, "Thank you," I said as I left some of my curls hang over my shoulders.

"Any time sweetie!" she said and my phone went off, "Oh is it him?"

"Yeah," I said and she squealed.

"Answer it!"

"Calm down, it's just a text!" I laughed and she nodded her head. I read the text that said that he was here and that he couldn't find the doorbell.

"Aw that's so cute," Mildred said and I looked over towards Josh to see that he was doing his homework.

"Sweetie, mommy's going out for a while, I'll be home late so you listen to Grammy and Aunt Allie!"

"All right, love you Mommy," Josh said and then wrapped his little arms around my neck and kissed my cheek.

"Love you too!" I said and then I started down the stairs and headed through the shop to see Sidney at the doorway. I smiled towards him when he smiled at me and then opened the door, "You could have come in, it's freezing out here."

"Naw, I'm use to this weather," he said and I laughed and he held out his hand, "Ready?"

"Yes," I said and took his hand.

"You look nice."

"Thank you, you don't look so bad yourself," I said and he smiled and we started to walk to his car.

"NOOOOO!!!!"

Sidney and I turned around to see Josh running out of the shop and towards us with Allie and Mildred in the doorway.

"Sorry, we couldn't stop him," Allie said and I bent down to look at Josh.

"What's wrong sweetie?"

He looked up towards Sidney, "You treat my mommy good!" he said looking so serious it was adorable.

Sidney bent down and looked at Josh and held out his hand, "You got it little man!"

Josh put his hand in Sidney's and they shook and Josh smiled, "You have mommy back in time for bedtime!" I laughed and then kissed Josh's head.

"What time's bedtime?" Sidney asked.

"Nine!" he said and I smiled towards Sidney who was looking at Josh.

"How 'bout ten?"

"Nine!"

"Eleven?"

"Eight!" Josh said and I laughed.

"Boy kid, you drive a hard bargain," he said and then rubbed his face, "All right, how 'bout if I let you sit on the bench at the next home game, you let me take your mommy out and I'll have her home before midnight?"

'...Oh he's good...' I thought as I looked to see Josh thinking about it.

"On the bench?"

"Yup."

"With the team?"

"You got it," Sidney said and Josh smiled towards me.

"All right! Deal!"

"All right!" Sidney said and then shook hands with him and ruffled his head.

"Bye mommy!"

"Bye sweetie!" I said and then hugged Josh and walked over towards Sidney's car. He opened the door for me and then smiled towards me as I got in, "Thank you," Sidney walked over towards the driver side and then got in, "So where are we going?"

"You'll see," he said and I laughed and Sidney turned the heat on in the car and we pulled away, "I think you'll have fun."

"I'm sure I will," I said and then tried to think of something to say.

“He’s a good kid.”

“He is,” I said while smiling.

“Cute too,” I laughed and then nodded my head, “He takes after his mother.”

“I try.”

“You succeed.”

"So how was your game?"

"It was good, we won!" he said happily and I smiled.

"That’s wonderful. When's your next game?"

"Tomorrow night," he said and then stopped at a stop sign, "It's a home game. Would you like to come?"

I looked over towards him to see that he was looking at me and I smiled, "I'd love to. Besides, you kind of bribed my son to take me out tonight."

He laughed and I smiled, I liked his laugh, it was cute. I looked over towards him and then saw that he was staring at me, and then I heard a honk and looked over to see that the light was green. I looked back at him and pointed towards the light.

"Oops," he said and I laughed.

“So how was the weather in Florida?”

“It was beautiful, nice and warm.

“Wish Pittsburgh was nice and warm,” I said and he laughed.

“Well I guess it never got this cold in Texas?”

“Rarely.”

He drove me to the arena and I was a little confused. I didn't understand what we were doing here, and looking around; I saw that there was no one here. I got a little nervous and I guess Sidney saw and smiled towards me, "It's all right."

I nodded my head and then Sidney took my hand and we walked over towards the arena doors. He pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the door and walked in. Sidney held the door opened for me and I walked in he shut the door and locked it.

"It's quiet."

"Yeah, no one's here," he said and I looked around, it kind of felt like a horror movie, "This way."

I followed him and then saw that we were in front of the ice rink, '...Oh no...'

“So you coming?” he asked because apparently I had just froze in my spot.

“Yeah,” I said staring at the ice, ‘…I think I figured out what we’re doing…’
