Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Chapter Twenty Six

-Julie-

"There! Now you look like hockey player!" Geno said happily, with his accent clearly visible, as Sidney skated out onto the ice with my armored up son.

The other day, Sidney had brought Josh out onto the ice to shoot some pucks, he loved it so much, that's all he was talking about. So when Saturday came, and since it was their day off, Sidney and I took Josh down to the hockey store and bought him everything that he would need to learn how to play.

I smiled as I watched as my son learned how to skate and then watched as he shot the pucks into the net.

I felt my phone going off and looked to see that it was Allie sending me a text message. I opened it and saw that she was reminding me that about my flight tomorrow.

Andy had called and told me that it would take a while to get the money to afford to come up and see me. So I decided that I was going to go down and see them. I had to wait until Josh didn't have school, and next week is their break, so we're going down. I wanted Sidney to come too, but he has games, so that wasn't going to work.

After Josh skated around with the guys for almost two hours, he got tired and wanted to go.

"Mommy! Mommy! Did you see me?!" Josh yelled as he skated over towards me, but then as he did he fell back onto the ice, right on his butt.

"Josh! You all right?" I asked and he started to laugh and rubbed his butt.

"Not fun," he said and I smiled.

"You all right, little man?" Geno asked as he and Sidney skated next to him.

"Yeah, I hurt my butt," he said and Sidney laughed.

"Just like your Mommy," he said and I bit my lip remembering that that had happened on our first date.

Geno and Sidney helped Josh up and then helped Josh walk off the ice and into the locker room, where I waited outside, because they were going to help Josh change.

"Ready?"

I looked up and saw Sidney walk up carrying two bags, "Where's Josh?"

"Talking with the guys," he said and then threw the bags onto the ground next to me and the wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed his lips onto mine.

"Thank you for this, Sidney, for everything," I whispered when Sidney pulled away and laced his fingers with mine.

"Anything for a beautiful girl," he said and I blushed and looked towards the ground. I felt his fingers under my chin and push my face up to look at him, "You are beautiful."

I clutched onto his jacket and then reached up and pressed my lips to his cheek and then laid my head on his chest as we waited for everyone to come out.

"So what time are we leaving tomorrow?" I asked as I opened up the Chinese food that we just had delivered.

"What?" she asked confused and I smirked.

"I looked at my schedule, I might not be able to come down for your whole trip, but I can be there until Thursday, because I have a game that night," I said and her face lit up and she ran over towards me.

I laughed when she jumped up and wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck, "I'm so excited that you're coming!"

"I get to meet your family," I said and she smiled and nodded her head.

"Are we there yet?" Josh asked and I looked down towards him and nodded my head.

"We just landed, sweetie," I said and he nodded his head and then leaned it against my arm.

We had just traveled for about nine hours and we were all tired. Sidney, Josh and I walked off of the play that had just landed in Killeen, Texas and then Josh and I headed over to rent a car while Sidney grabbed the bags.

Once we had everything, we went to our car which was a Chevy Impala and then threw everything into the car. I drove because I knew my way around here, it might have been seven years since I've been here, but I still knew where everything was.

When I found my house, I pulled into the driveway and then parked the car. We all got out and Sidney headed towards the trunk to get the bags and I heard the front door open.

"JULIE!!!"

I turned around and saw my sister running out of the house and running over towards me. She engulfed me in a hug and we slammed against the car and fell to the ground. We were laughing and she hugged my tightly and started to cry. We both stood up and I hugged her again and then saw Josh walk out of the car and walk over towards his Aunt Andy.

"Is that my baby?"

I looked up and saw my Mom walk out of the house and I smiled over towards her, "Hi Mom."

She held out her arms and I smiled and walked over towards my tear stained cheeks Mother. I was held tightly, she was afraid that I was just going to disappear as soon as she let me go. My mother was crying and I smiled and held her close.

"Now where's my grandson?" she asked as we pulled away and she wiped her tears.

I walked over towards Josh, who was standing in-between Sidney and Andy and smiled towards him, "Would you like to meet your grandmother? My mother," I said and she nodded his head and I held out my hand and then picked him up, placing him on my hip, and then grabbed Sidney's hand.

"He's so big!" she said and then she took Josh and started to hug him, or squish him.

"Where's Papa?" I asked my Mom as she put Josh down and smiled towards Sidney.

"He's in the garage out back, who's this?"

"This is Sidney, he's-"

"You saved my baby," my Mom said and then engulfed him in a hug and I laughed because he had an awkward face on.

We walked into the house and I saw that it looked different than I remembered. I looked at my Mom and she nodded her head, I knew what she meant and I snuck out of the room to head into the backyard to see my Dad working on his car in the garage. I nervously walked to the door and knocked.

"What?!" he asked annoyed and I rubbed my hands.

"Hi Daddy," I said and he got up from underneath the car and looked at me.

"Julie?" he whispered and then stood up, "Is it really you?"

"Yes," I said and he placed his hand on my cheek and then pulled me forward and wrapped his arms around me.

"I thought I lost you," he said as I gripped onto his jacket and held onto him, "I love you so much."

"I love you too, Daddy," I muttered against his jacket and then he pulled away.

"I'm so happy that you're home," he said and then I looked at the ground, "You are home? Right?"

"I ya," I sighed, "I'm only here to visit."

"Why? Why not come home?" he asked confused.

"Because I found a place for Josh and I to live in peace. I have friends, and Josh has school," I explained and my Dad sighed.

"Josh? He's six?"

"Seven," I said and then smiled towards him.

"Let me go and see my grandson," he said and I nodded my head.

"My boyfriend's here too," I said and my Dad's head whipped around and he looked at me.

"Kyle?!" he asked angrily.

"What? No?! His name is Sidney, he saved Josh and I against Kyle," I said and he nodded his head.

"Well let's go meet him," Dad said and I nodded my head.

We walked inside to see that Mom and Andy were talking with Sidney who was holding Josh. His little arms were wrapped around Sidney's neck and his head was on his shoulder, and I saw that he was fast asleep. I smiled and then walked over towards Sidney and rubbed his arm and looked at Josh.

"He fell asleep as soon as I picked him up," Sidney said and I laughed and nodded my head.

I leaned against Sidney and rubbed Josh's back. I looked over towards Mom and Andy to see that they were smiling towards me.

"Where's your father?" Mom asked.

"He's coming, he wanted to clean up before he came in," I said and she nodded her head.

"Holy shit!" Dad said and we all looked to see that he was standing in the doorway with his eyes wide.
