Chapter Thirty One

-Sidney-

I was depressed and wanted nothing more than to hold Julie and go to bed. We had lost our game against the Bruins and were heading home, what was worse, was that our best defenseman, Kris Letang, was out on injury because he was thrown into the boards by Adam McQuaid.

After we left the arena, I got in my Rover and drove to Allie's place, parking my car right outside the shop's door. I saw a car coming and turned to see that Tyler had pulled up behind me and I nodded my head towards him, because we both wanted to be comforted by our girls.

We walk into the shop and were hit by the smell of chocolate chip cookies, I inhaled the smell, because it reminded me of my younger days when my mom made them for me after a big win. I walked into the kitchen to see that Allie and Josh were in the kitchen eating some cookies and drinking some milk. They were talking about something and Josh was holding the puppy, which made me smile, because I like how much they love her. He was the first to see me, his face lit up and I smiled and bent down, because he was running over towards me.

"I missed you," he said with his mouth full of cookies.

"I missed you too, little man," I said and he smiled widely.

"I'm sorry you lost," he said sadly and I nodded my head.

"We'll get 'em next time, don't you worry," I said and he smiled again and nodded his head, "I'm gunna go see your mom now."

"Ok," he said and then I looked at Julie.

"Josh, why don't you go and get your homework started," Julie said and Josh groaned but ran up the stairs and I smiled watching him go, "Hey."

"Hey," I said while turning back to her and walking over to where she was leaning against the counter.

"I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way you wanted," she said and I nodded my head and wrapped my arms around her waist.

"I'm home now," I said and she smiled and then wrapped her arms around my waist.

"It's almost the end of the season," she said and I nodded my head, "You guys gunna make it to the playoffs?"

"Yes ma'am," I said proudly and she smiled and then reached up and pressed her lips onto mine.

'...God I missed those lips...' I thought as I held her tight and close.

-Julie-

"Mommy, are we going to the game tonight?" Josh asked and I looked at him and shook my head.

"No sweetie, sorry," I said and he looked sad, it was too cute and I had to grab my phone, and I hit video.

"Why can't we go to the game?" he whined and my heart broke because I know he really wanted to see the game, "I wanna see, daddy!"

"We can't see him, sweetie, he's in Canada, but Aunt Allie has the game on upstairs and we're gunna watch it with Conner too."

"Really?!" he said while looking up and I smiled and nodded my head, "Let's go!" he yelled and then ran out the door and I face the phone towards me.

"We miss you, Sid! Good luck tonight!" I said and then hit end on the video and sent it to him.

I closed my apartment door and then headed up the stairs towards Allie's, she had her door already opened and she had some food and drinks laid out for us.

"Where's Milly and Harold? Thought they would be watching the game?" I asked as I saw Allie, Conner and Josh sitting on the couch staring at the TV that was showing highlights of the previous games.

"They're packing, they leave for their cruise in two days," she said and I was confused.

"Conner going too?"

"Nope, I'm gunna watch him," she said and I smirked.

"You mean 'I'm' gunna watch him," I said and she laughed.

"We'll watch him,' she said and I nodded my head and then sat down net to Josh and got ready for the game.

-Sidney-

The guys and I were in the locker room changing into our gear, I heard my phone going off, and I took it out and saw that I had a video from Julie, I smiled and then put my headphones in and hit play and I laughed when I saw Josh's sad face because he wanted to be here tonight. My face lit up when he called me 'daddy', I don't know, something about that just made me feel happy.

I felt someone tap my shoulder and looked to see that Geno was looking at me confused. I showed him the video and he laughed and then passed it around the locker room, and I groaned because I only wanted Geno to see it. The guys were busting me about Josh calling me 'dad', but I didn't care, I really did like the sound of it.

"All right, guys! Let's go!" Coach yelled as he walked into the locker room and we nodded our heads and headed out into the hallway to win our game against the Winnipeg Jets.

-Julie-

We were cheering because the Penguins had just beaten the Jets. Allie was excited because 'her man' had won the winning goal. It was a tough game, but also a very exciting game. By the end of the first period and second, the score was zero to zero. Marc was in the net, and he, along with the Jets' goaltender, were on fire, constantly blocking the shots, but at the end of the third period, Tyler managed to score a goal, winning the game. I was so excited and we watched as the boys skated to the center of the ice and were congratulating Tyler.

"Even though the lost against the Bruins, the boys can go pretty far into the playoffs," Allie said and I looked at her with a big smile on my face.

"We'd better get going, the boys have school tomorrow," I said and then picked up Josh, but I knew that he was too excited to fall asleep.

"But I don't wanna," he said and I smiled.

"It's already passed your bedtime mister," I said and he pouted, "Aw, you're so cute."

I kissed his cheek and he smiled and then looked over towards Conner to see that he was already slouching down onto the couch, he was about to fall asleep.

"I'll get Conner," Allie said and I nodded my head and we left her apartment and headed down the stairs.

"Mommy, when's daddy coming back?" Josh asked as I walked into the apartment. I put him down and he walked over towards the cage in the corner of the room and let Sasha out.

"I think tomorrow night, sweetie, but you'll already be asleep by the time he comes here," I answered and Josh sat on the floor and played with Sasha.

"Can I wait up for him?" he asked and I smiled.

"We'll see," I said and looked at the time to see that it was almost ten, "Time for bed, sweetie."

-Sidney-

It was a late Tuesday night, and I wanted to go home to bed, but I wanted to see Julie more. I don't even think that I've been to my house since Easter. I parked my Rover in front of the shop and walked up to the door and saw that it was locked. I sighed and then saw Tyler pull up behind my car, it was deje vu all over again.

"Locked?" he asked and I nodded my head and then reached into his pocket and grabbed a set of keys, "I got this."

"Thanks," I said and we walked into the shop, Tyler locking the door, and then we walked up the stairs.

"See ya man," Tyler said as he continued up the next flight of stairs to Allie's place, and I knocked on the door to Julies.

The door opened and I saw Julie's smiling face, and my smile matched hers, "I missed you."

"I missed you too," she said and then wrapped her arms around my neck and I picked her up and pressed my lips onto hers.

"Where's Josh?" I asked and then looked at the clock.

"Sleeping," she said and then I walked in to see that Josh was passed out on the couch, "He tried to wait up for you."

"Sorry, the guys wanted to get something to eat before we headed home," I said and she nodded her head and closed the door.

"It's not a problem," she said and then I walked over towards Josh.

"Can I?" I asked and she smiled and nodded her head.

"He was excited to see you," she said.

I smiled and saw that he was holding onto the jersey that I had gotten him and then saw that the puppy was laying in-between his legs and the couch, '...Glad he likes the pup...' I thought and then bent down and placed my hand on his shoulder, "Josh."

He groaned a little and then opened his eyes and sat up, he had to blink a little, but when he saw me he smiled and then wrapped his arms around me.

"You came?!" he said and I nodded my head.

"Now you have to go to bed, Josh," I said and he whined but nodded his head when I picked him up.

Julie picked up the puppy and we walked into his bedroom and I laid him on the bed, "See ya in the morning, little man."

"Night," he said and then watched as Julie placed the puppy in bed with Josh and then kissed his head.

"Sweet dreams, baby boy," she said and then stood up and I held out my hand.

Julie and I walked out of Josh's room and then over towards hers. I closed the door and then turned around to see Julie lean up and pressed her lips onto mine. I smirked and then wrapped my arms around her waist and pushed her back to the bed and turned around and fell back, pulling her on top of me.
