Chapter Thirty

-Julie-

“Sidney-You- Whoa!” I said as I looked at the puppy in Josh’s hand.

“Mommy, can we keep her?!” Josh asked and I sighed.

She was a cute little Golden Retriever that had a bright red bow around her neck. I smiled when I saw her, and after my shock left, and bent down to pet her, “She’s beautiful.”

“I thought you would like her,” he said and I smiled up towards him and then stood up.

“Thank you,” I said and then placed my hands on his neck and pressed my lips to his.

“All right Sid! Introduce the woman already!” I heard and then pulled away to see a young girl standing by us looking like she was a teenager.

Sidney coughed and then backed away and I looked to see that his face was a little red.

“Ah, he’s blushing, that’s so cute!” the girl said and I laughed a little.

“Julie, this is my little sister, Taylor,” Sidney said and I smiled and held my hand out to Taylor and shook it.

“Nice to meet you,” I said and she smiled.

“Nice to finally meet you!” Taylor said and I laughed.

“Is she finally here?!” I heard from the kitchen and turned around to see a man and woman walk out.

“Mom, Dad, this is Julie,” Sidney said and his mom walked over towards me and embraced me in a tight hug.

I laughed and then she pulled away and held my face, “She’s beautiful, Sidney.”

“I know, I kept telling you that,” he said and it was my turn to blush.

“Mommy?”

“Oh, you must be Josh!” his mom cooed as she bent down and stared at my son, “You’re so cute!”

Josh looked so scared and he was inching over towards me. He grabbed my leg and then hid behind my, popping his head out and then looking up towards me, while still holding the puppy. I laughed and then bent down to look at Josh, “Sweetie, this is Sidney’s parents.”

“Really?” he asked and then looked up towards Sidney who nodded his head.

“They won’t bite, little man,” he said and then bent down next to me, “Except maybe that one, she’s definitely a bitter,” he teased while pointing towards his sister.

“Hey! I am not!” Taylor whined and Josh laughed.

Josh handed me the puppy and then walked over towards Sidney, who picked him up and walked over towards his mom and dad. I smiled as I watched as his mom instantly fell in love with Josh and was trying to get him to let her hold him, but Josh was a stubborn boy.

“My son talks a lot about you,” I heard and then looked to my side to see that his father was standing there, “You’ve made quite an impact on his life.”

“He’s also made an impact on mine and Josh’s life as well,” I answered and then petted the puppy’s head, “Julie,” I said and then held out my hand to him.

“Troy,” he answered and then shook my hand, “You’ve got a stubborn boy there,” he said and I laughed and nodded my head.

“Just offer him some chocolate and he’s your best friend,” I said and Troy nodded his head.

“I’ll be sure to let my wife in on that little secret,” he said and I laughed and then watched as he walked away.

-Sidney-

“Well it was really nice meeting you, Mr. and Mrs. Crosby,” Julie said as she put her coat on and placed her hand on top of Josh’s head.

“It was nice meeting you too! My son didn’t give you enough justice while explaining you,” Mom said and I saw Julie blushed.

“So what are you going to name the little girl?” Taylor asked while bending down in front of Josh and scratched the puppy’s head.

“Sasha!” he said happily and I smiled and looked over towards Julie to see that she was smiling too.

“So cute,” Mom cooed and I laughed.

“Say bye, Josh,” Julie said and I looked at him to see him smiled.

“Bye bye!” he yelled and then I opened the front door and Josh outside.

“Goodbye,” Julie said and then followed after Josh.

“I’ll be back,” I said and my Mom nodded her head and I threw my jacket on and walked outside with Julie and Josh.

I walked them to Julie’s car and then opened the back door for her, “Thanks for coming over.”

“Thank you for inviting me,” she said and I grabbed her glove covered hands and looked back to see that Josh was running around in the front yard with his new puppy.

“You really like her?” I asked referring to the puppy, and Julie nodded her head.

“Thank you,” she said and I nodded my head, “Come on, Josh!”

Josh picked up the puppy and then ran over towards the car and hopped into his little booster seat. I buckled him in while Julie held the puppy.

“Bye, Daddy!” Josh said and I looked up and smiled towards him and then ruffled his head.

“See ya tomorrow, little man,” I said and then got out of the way so that Julie could give the puppy to Josh. Julie closed the door and then I opened her drivers’ door, “I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“Yes,” she said and I smiled and then leaned forward to press my lips against her, “Definitely see you tomorrow.”

“Great,” I said and then she got into her car and I closed the door.

I watched as she turned her car on and then back out of the driveway and headed back to the apartment. I smiled to myself and then walked into the house, knowing that this year was a good Easter.

-Julie-

We got back to the apartment and Josh couldn’t wait to play with the puppy. Allie had gone to Tyler’s place to meet his parents, and Milly, Harold and Conner were going to be back for another two more days. I left the apartment door opened and then threw our jackets into the closet. I heard Josh laugh and I looked over to see that the puppy was licking Josh’s face. I smiled and then heard someone coming up the stairs and saw Bow appear.

“Hey girl,” I said as I bent down to pet her, “Where have you been hiding?”

“Mommy! Can Sasha sleep with me?” Josh asked and I smiled and nodded my head.

Bow must have smelled the puppy, because she walked over towards Josh and Sasha and started to sniff her. I smiled when Bow started to lick the puppy, because that meant that I didn’t have to worry about Bow being jealous of the new dog.

“Julie!” I heard and then heard someone running up the stairs.

I turned around to see Allie coming up the stairs, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she said and I sighed and shook my head.

“The way you yelled my name, I thought something was wrong,” I said and she shook my head and then walked into the apartment.

“Is that a puppy?” she asked and I smiled and nodded my head.

“Sidney got her for us,” I said and Allie smirked and then we laughed when Josh was playing with both the puppy and Box.

“So your relationship is getting pretty serious?” Allie asked and I looked at her and smiled, “Good for you, after what you’ve been through, you deserve it.”

“Thanks.”

“So you really all right with Josh calling Sidney ‘dad’?” she asked and I looked at her and nodded my head.

“I’m happy he picked Sidney to be called dad and not Kyle,” I said and Allie snorted, “So I thought you were going to be gone for the whole day?”

“Oh Tyler’s parents never came because their flight was delayed, so we went out for a late lunch and then I came back here. The boys had a morning practice tomorrow and then they have an away game after that,” Allie said and I nodded my head.

“Boston, right?” I asked and Allie nodded her head.

“That’s going to be a tough game,” she said and I sighed.

“The boys can handle it,” I said and then looked at Josh and smiled.
