Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Chapter Eight

I laughed as I looked at him, "I can't believe that it's you."

He had a big smile on his face as he looked at me, "Same here, what are you doing here?"

"My friend Allie is dating one of your players," I explained and he laughed and nodded his head.

"Yeah that'll do it."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Geno said as he walked over, "What the hell is going on here?"

"Don't be an idiot, Geno!" Marc said as he walked over, "This is the girl that he's been going on about."

"Julie?" Geno asked, "Our Julie?"

I laughed and then Marc placed his hand on my shoulder, I flinched a little because I wasn't use to the contact, but I knew he meant no harm so I calmed down.

"We should have put it together!" Marc said and they laughed and nodded their heads.

"Go away guys!" Sidney yelled and I laughed and leaned against the wall.

Josh was over with Conner talking to some players and I looked at Sidney to see that he was happy to see me, I've really missed that look that someone gave me.

"So, we really need to stop running into each other like this," he said and I laughed and nodded my head.

"Yo Crosby! If you're gunna talk to the lady, at least put some damn clothes on!" I heard and that when I looked down and saw that he was only in a towel.

'...Oh boy...'

"Let me go and get changed and we'll talk," he said and I nodded my head and he walked away.

"Mommy! Mommy! Look, I got my jersey signed!" Josh yelled as he ran over and I smiled.

I bent down and then looked at all of the signatures that he got on his new jersey and I laughed at how excited he was getting.

"Josh look!" Conner said as he came over and handed Josh a puck, "They're for us!"

I took the puck from Josh and looked at it smiling, "They're hooking you boys up."

"Mommy, can we stay a little longer?" Josh asked and I nodded my head and he was already off again.

Allie walked over and smiled towards me, "You didn't tell me that Sidney Crosby was your coffee man."

"I didn't know that it was him, we only exchanged our first names," I answered while trying to keep an eye on Josh and Conner, "I must say, it's funny how everyone knows one another."

"Yeah it is," Allie said and then stood next to me, "Those boys are having a blast tonight."

"Yeah they are. Josh has never had an experience like this before," I said and my face had a smile on it that was so bright that it could match the sun, "It's been a long time since I've been this happy."

"Well good, I'm glad," she said and then patted my arm, "After all you've been through, you deserve it. You're a good mother, Julie."

"Thank you."

"All right, I'm decent this time."

I looked to see that Sidney had come back over and he had changed into jeans, a Penguins t-shirt and some sneakers. I smiled towards him and nodded my head, "I didn't know that you were a hockey player."

"You never asked, and we never had our coffee date," he teased and I laughed and Allie decided to slip away, "So are we still on for tomorrow or did I scare you off?"

"Yes we're still on for mine in morning? I'll be there and ready for you to bump into me," I teased and he laughed.

"Sorry, but you're the one who bumps into me."

"In your dreams," I said and he smiled.

"Well, we might have our coffee date tomorrow, but would you like to get something to eat tonight?" he asked and I looked at my watch to see that it was after ten at night.

"I really want to, but I have get Josh and Conner in bed," I said and nudged my head towards the two boys who were having a blast with the guys.

"Well I can honestly say that they'll sleep well tonight," Sidney said sounding a little disappointed and I laughed and nodded my head, wishing that I would be able to go out with him.

"You ready to go?" Allie asked while walking up to me and I nodded my head, "Come on boys!"

Josh and Conner ran over and stood next to Allie, I looked over towards Sidney and smiled towards him, "Guess I'm see you tomorrow."

"Till tomorrow," he said and then kissed my cheek and I smiled brightly and left.

-Sidney-

"I can't believe that our Julie is your Julie!" Geno yelled after the girls left and I laughed and rubbed my head.

"I know, what a small world."

"She's got a cute kid!" James said and I looked over towards him.

"Wait what?" I asked surprised, '...Kid? Those were her kids?...'

"Yeah, the one that was wearing Geno's jersey was her son," Marc explained, "He's really funny and loves cars."

"Who was the other kid?"

"That was Allie's nephew," Tyler answered as he picked up his bag, "Her brother died last year and she and her mother take care of him. I guess Julie helps out too."

"They're a handful," Geno said and we laughed.

"So what's her story?" I asked Tyler and he shrugged his shoulders.

"Don't know."

"You mean you didn't ask after we met her on Tuesday?" Geno asked.

"Well I did," he said and then sighed, "But all I got out of Allie was that her past was really bad."

"What the hell does that mean?" Kris Letang asked as he tied his sneakers and then stood up.

"I don't know what that means, but everyone has a right to their own privacy."

"Yeah you're right," he said and then sighed, "But Geno wasn't kidding when he said that the girl was smokin'."

"Shut up man!" I growled and the guys laughed.

"She's way too skinny, I think I could snap her in half," Cooke said and we nodded her head.

"You wouldn't think that if you saw how she eats," Tyler said and I was confused, "She eats almost as much as me, I saw the burger she was eating the other night when I came to pick Allie up. Allie says that she eats like that and doesn't gain a single pound."

"Damn, I bet my wife wishes she was like that," Marc said and we laughed.

"I think most girls wish they were like that," I said.

"Hell I wish I was like that! Tracy made me cut back on the beer because she said I was getting a gut!" Tanner Glass said and we laughed and started to bust him.

After everyone was dressed and we were finished talking, we all left and I headed back to my little three bedroom, two and a half bathroom home. I walked into the empty home and then sighed and threw my bag over by the washer and dryer and headed up the stairs towards my room after making sure that all of my doors were locked.

As I was about to lay on my bed, my cell phone went off and I looked to see that my Mom was calling, "Hey Mom what's up?"

"Try again big bro!"

"Taylor! Hey what's up?! Why are you calling from Mom's cell phone?"

"Because something's wrong with the landline and my phone is broken."

"What did you do?"

"Dropped it in the toilet."

"Classic Taylor," I teased.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, hey listen! What's this I hear you have a girlfriend and didn't tell me!"

"I don't have a girlfriend, what are you talking about?"

"Mom told me that you're seeing someone!"

"It's nothing like that yet, we just run into each other a lot at the coffee shop and she's really pretty, so I thought that I would ask her out."

"And she said yes?"

"Who would say no to me?"

"Cocky much?"

I laughed, "No, the first time I asked her she turned me down, but we have a date tomorrow night."

"Fun, fun, I heard you won your game tonight."

"I did, actually she was there tonight. I guess her friend is dating Tyler Kennedy, so she was at the game. That was a nice surprise."

We talked for a little while longer, but I had to let her go because I was tired and I had a coffee date in the morning. As I laid in my bed I had a smile on my face knowing that Julie was at the game and had seen me play.

'...She knows more about me than I do about her. Gunna have to change that. Wonder what Tyler meant when he said that she had a bad past?...'
