The One Night That Changed My Life Forever

So you are Fans huh?

Rachel's POV
I just made it back to the hotel as my family had started packing. The trip back to London, was boring yet everyone seemed excited that I was dating Patrick. The next few days was spent, hanging out with some of my friends who were also back from school on their own spring breaks. Just as expected the press rumour mill had started. Even up in Canada Pat and I had made the news. Headlines were plastered on all sports sections, all with pictures. Some were of the team, but there we also ones of Pat taking pictures, or us kissing, or just walking hand in hand. There was even pictures back from the Olympics of me in my Toews jersey with him watching Canada play. It weirded me out, how they could find out so much about us without even knowing my name, and who I am. I texted Pat Saturday to ask if it was just as bad at home. Apparently it was worse due to the fact Pat played in Chicago, but he assured me that I was still anonymous and that if I kept my head down and wore a hat and glasses. I had to admit it kind of sucked not being able to be myself, but I realized Pat was worth it. So I did as he said making it to customs smoothly. I got a few stares none to worry about, and had fun while the guard made sure it was actually me behind the hat and glasses.
"Why are you so secretive today miss?" the guard asked. I showed him an article about Pat and I on my phone, and he laughed.
"Sometimes fame's not all it's cut out to be huh?"
"Well I'm not the famous one, but yah having to disguise myself just to go home can be annoying."
"Well, you are free to board the plane. Normally you would have had to take all of that off" he said waving his hands in front of my face laughing "but today I'm going to let you off, partially because I don't want to have to deal with the whiplash of that, and I honestly don't want you to go through that" he smiled.
"Well if you are ever in Chicago, call this number I'll be sure to get you tickets to a game" I said scribbling an number on a piece of paper. "Thanks again!" I said walking towards my gate in the Toronto Airport. People got more suspicious of course when I made it to the gate for Chicago. I'm sure a couple of people recognized me, but I was glad that they didn't make much of a fuss. A little whispering here and there wasn't going to be too bad. I went over to the girls whispering and said hi.
"Sorry, may I ask why you are whispering and looking at me?"
"No reason, sorry."
"No really? I wouldn't mind knowing. I won't be mad if you guys somehow saw through my disguise."
"So we were right. You are the girl in the papers and on the news."
"If I said yes, would I regret it? Because, no I'm not."
"Darn. It would have been so cool to meet her. We are sorry. We thought you were someone else."
"No problem girls, I get it a lot. So what bring you girls to Chicago?" I asked boarding the plane, finding out that the girls were just beside me in first class.
"Well I entered this contest, and one of the prizes was two tickets to a Hawks game. Too bad it didn't include meeting the players, but oh well."
"That's so cool! You must be quite lucky. I used to enter those things when I lived up in Ottawa but never won" I said pouting. "I see the Hawks are treating you well though, they got you pretty nice seats just for you to come see them play."
"You lived in Ottawa. I love the city."
"Yup, for four years. I'm just finishing my schooling at the University of Chicago. You guys are going to love this city too! How long are you in town for? I know the next game isn't for a few days so you guys have time to explore right?"
"Yah the next game isn't until Wednesday, so we were just going to do some girly things. Shopping, sightseeing, trying to spot some of the Hawks. You know…"
"Haha yes I do. How about you guys let me show you around, after all I do know the city. Plus I'm sure some of my friends would love to meet you."
"Of course! You'd do that even after we thought you were someone else?"
"Are you kidding? You guys seem like great people, honest mistakes happen. Plus you guys have made this boring plane ride actually enjoyable. I'd love to hang with you guys. Especially with you guys being Canadian and all" I winked.
"Cool! I can't wait" both girls replied taking out their phones allowing me to put my number in.
"Text me when the plane lands to make sure I have your number. You guys have any plans tomorrow night?"
"Nope. You have any ideas what we could do?"
"Well I think my boyfriend and I are going to host a little party, to welcome you guys to the city. You in?"
"Sure! Your boyfriend won't mind?"
"Are you kidding he'd love to meet you guys. Plus he's a huge Hawks fan, so maybe we can all go to the game together? We have tickets for the game too."
"I'm sure that can be possible. I'm Chelsea, and this is my best friend Brooke by the way."
"I'm Rachel. Again nice to meet you girls! Text me and we will totally hang. I'll come pick you guys up tomorrow for the party. Dress to impress ladies" I winked.
"Thanks again. See you tomorrow. Thanks for everything again, and for picking us up!" Chelsea exclaimed.
"No problem honestly. I'll see you tomorrow guys. Really nice meeting you" I said making my way off the plane and into the airport. I texted Pat that I would be over in the morning, and to thank him for the car he had sent to pick me up.
The next morning I got up and was immediately excited for this day to begin. I had made two new friends, and I couldn't wait to show them what Chicago has to offer. I texted all the guys informing them of the plan, and party I was trying to put together, as I made my way into Pat's penthouse.
"Pat? You up?" I called opening the door.
"Rach! Your back! I missed you!" Pat ran up and twirled me around giving me a big kiss.
"What you couldn't last 3 days without me?"
"Nope, cause I luuuuuuv ya" he said in a singsong voice.
"Sometimes I wonder how old you actually are. But I need to ask a favour."
"Go for it what's up?"
"So I was wondering if we could host a little party for a couple of girls I befriended on the plane ride here."
"Any excuse for a party. Plus we don't have hockey until Wednesday. So who are these girls?"
"Well short story is that they "thought" they recognized me, then we got talking and they won some contest to get two tickets to come down and see one of your guys' games. So I said we should hang out, and I could show them the city on their free days seeing as your game isn't until Wednesday. I hope you aren't mad I kinda offered your place for a random party, I don't want to overstep any boundaries!"
"No don't worry about it, it will be fun. Plus these guys are Canadian Hawks fans, plus they deserve to meet the players after all they did win a contest."
"Thanks Pat!!! And if you really don't want to have this party just tell me and I'll have it at mine and Ellie's place it's no big deal!"
"Nope. We are having it here. Plus it's a good excuse to see all the guys again without having hockey in the way! Maybe we can get Jonny to be less serious" he laughed.
"Haha good luck, but you can try" I said shaking my head. "I'm going to go get some things for tonight then."
"I'll come with, plus they will think you are an alcoholic" he said laughing.
"Fine, but I'm paying for my things. If you want more then you can buy it, but I am not making you pay for my idea!" I said in all seriousness.
"Hmm we will see. Plus just text the guys to bring some stuff. They are all coming right?"
"I texted them the details, and most of them replied they would make it. Taze and Sharpie are going to be there for sure!"
"Ok, lets go shopping!" Pat said sounding excited. "You look great by the way" he said eying my disguise.
"Haha ya. You too" I replied as he put on a hat and his large sunglasses. We did a bit of grocery shopping first, to get enough party snacks to feed a room full of hockey players. Then we went and stocked up on beer, and other drinks for the girls as Pat said. Just like expected Pat chucked his card down before I could even get mine out of my purse. We were done shopping an hour later, so we had a few hours to set everything up.
"So I have to pick the girls up at their hotel before tonight. But I don't want to give anything away so I don't know how I'm going to do it" I said as we walked into the apartment bags in hand.
"Why don't you send a car for them? Nothing too fancy, just say that you are still setting up and that you had to get someone to pick them up. Or you could get Ellie to pick them up?"
"Yah I'll text El. She probably won't mind, plus she will love the girls." I texted Ellie the plan then texted the girls saying that I had a few last minute preparations that I had to take care of so I was sending my best friend to pick them up. I texted them a picture of Ellie so they knew who to look for in the lobby of the hotel.
Patrick and I just relaxed after getting everything set up for later on. I had changed into my skinny jeans and a nice top, as well as curling my hair loosely. One by one the guys started arriving with their wives and girlfriends and some with some friends. Soon everyone was laughing, talking watching sports and just having an overall great time. Ellie texted me that they were in the lobby, so I told the guys to hide leaving me just with the girls, whom I figured the girls wouldn't know. Ellie and the girls came through the door, to see a bunch of girls socializing, though the pile of empty beer cans and sports looked kind of suspicious. "Chelsea! Brooke! Hey El!" I said hugging her "So glad you could make it."
"Who owns this place? Do you? It's like seriously wow!" Brooke exclaimed.
"Haha nope. I wish though. The view is stellar. This is my boyfriends place however."
"He must do well for himself huh?" Chelsea said.
"Not bad. Come on in guys make yourself at home. The guys are down in the games room just down the hall, watching some sports. They will probably be out at some point. I'll go tell them you guys are here. I'm sure they would love to meet you" I said winking at El as we went down to find the guys.
"Hey boys. Sorry about that. I think your girls are all looking forward to seeing you guys again. Try not to give these poor girls a heart attack. And none of you better break either of their hearts! Got it?" I said seriously. The guys nodded their heads as El and I made our way back out into the living room.
"So can I get you girls anything to drink? If you guys want anything fancy, all the stuff is over there" I said pointing towards the fully stocked bar.
"Hey girls. You must be Chelsea and Brooke" I heard Pat say as he came up behind us.
"Yup! and you are?" they said turning around. "Oh My God!" Brooke shrieked. "I Knew It!" Chelsea exclaimed.
"So you know who I am then?" Pat asked.
"Are you kidding? We love the Hawks!!!"
"Haha I guessed. Well welcome to my place. Make yourself at home. I'm going to go hang with the rest of the guys."
"Wait? The rest of the guys? As in…"
"Yup. Them. Have fun girls it was nice to meet you."
"Wait! Can we come too?" the girls asked instantly fangirling, as Ellie and I just shook our heads.
"If you want to" he shrugged making it seem as though it wasn't a big deal.
"We want to!" they replied immediately.
"Girls" Pat said shaking his head motioning for the girls to follow him.
"I like them" Ellie said watching the girls head down the hallway.
"Me too! They are nice girls. I bet they are freaking out right now though" I said grabbing myself a pop from the fridge.
"You not drinking?"
"Nah. Someone has to take care of the guys, plus you know I don't really drink very often. Plus I have to make sure the girls get home alright too."
"I see your point. 20 drunk hockey players is going to be a lot to handle."
"Yup. You just wait."
One bye one the guys made their way back to their dates and the party got back into full swing. The girls mingled, making the rounds to every player taking pictures with most of them. The guys gave them each a team signed jersey with each of their names on the back, which they were each very excited to receive. The party was a success in my opinion. The guys took an instant liking to the girls, as did the girls to the guys and their significant others as well. The party died down at about 3:30 in the morning with most people crashing at Pat's place. I got Pat to help carry the girls out from the couch and into the guest room so that they could have a semi decent sleep. As for the rest of the people I rounded up a few blankets and spread them out over the sleeping bodies before joining Pat in his bed, never mind Pat and Jon in his bed looking awfully comfortable for two drunk guys. I grabbed my iPhone and took a picture of the priceless couple making sure to send it to Sharpie and then password protect it on my phone just incase one of them went to delete it. I slid in bed, with Pat in the middle and Jon on the other side hoping to get some sleep. I woke up to laughter in the living room followed by footsteps coming towards Pat's room. As Sharpie opened the door, I motioned for him to be quiet as Pat and Jon had only gotten more comfortable as the night had gone on. I wondered if Pat thought it was me, but either way it was too funny. Soon the whole team had made it in to see the sight. Sharpie had sent a mass text with the headline reading: THAT'S ONE WAY TO HAVE A THREESOME ;). I burst out laughing at the same time as the boys decided to wake up.
"Morning lovebirds" Sharpie cooed trying to contain his laughter.
"What do you…WHAT THE F***! Jon Get Up!"
"What? Oh I see. Let me guess everyone is in here right now?"
"You got that right. Why are you in my bed? Why are we cuddling?"
"Well I don't really remember much about last night. As for the cuddling I will have you know that you are the one spooning me at the moment!"
I laughed, seeing as they had been to focused on finding out what had happened that they had forgotten the fact that they were indeed still spooning.
"Shit, Yah I'm going to roll the other way." Pat said rolling back towards me. "Go away guys! And Jonny find your own bed… or order in some breakfast I have a terrible headache."
"It's going on your bill" Jon grumbled as the guys mad their way out to the living room. I wriggled out of Pat's grip to his disappointment to go be accommodating to our guests. We ordered a crap ton of breakfast to the room. It was nice to not have to make the hangover breakfast for once. The girls came out of the guest rooms, looking the best out of anyone else. They didn't complain over their sleeps, though they all wondered how they had made it into the beds. Pat made it out at the smell of greasy breakfast food. I got out the bottle of Advil I had bought for this occasion, giving everyone a couple. I was impressed that no one had vomited at all, especially seeing the shape some people had been in the night before. Chelsea and Brooke looked really tired, and hungover but they toughed through it and came up with energy that they probably didn't know they had in them.
"Good night girls?"I asked them as they walked up saying hi to everyone.
"Haha yah, not so great of a morning though. Looks like we are not alone on that however" they said scanning over everyone's faces.
"So Kaner. Did you break up with your girlfriend and finally realize you were always mean't to be with Jonny?" Chelsea asked receiving many smirks and laughs from around the table.
"Not you too! You weren't even there. How did you know?" he asked leaning over to look at her phone as she showed him Sharpie's text.
"Shaaaaaaarpie! Was that really necessary?" he whisper yelled.
"Yes, yes it was."
After eating the guys slowly started making their ways back home. Soon it was just Pat, Ellie, Chelsea, Brooke and I. Once everyone woke up and was feeling better we decided to go sightseeing. Pat agreed to go with us, as I know the city but he knows it even more. The last stop was the Blackhawks store. We had been stopped a few times during the day for pictures and autographs, though I felt sorry for the people that had chose today to get a picture with Pat. He didn't ever look terrible in the picture, but I myself could tell that his smile was strained and having to take off the sunglasses was another struggle. But he made it through it, and we had made it to the one store where he could just be himself. I smiled seeing his eyes light up as we made our way into the store. He told the girls to go crazy and to get whatever they wanted.
"No Toews jerseys!" He added afterwards causing the girls to laugh while him Ellie and I walked around the store. Pat signed some people's recent purchases. He also signed a few jerseys that got put up on the wall behind a couple other ones for some lucky customers to find. After spending a good while at the store, we walked the girls back to their hotel. I told them to text me whenever, if they ever needed something to do. Ellie and I went back up to our apartment, and Pat headed back to his apartment. I knew he would call the cleaners later, so I had only cleaned up the bottles, cans, cups, and garbage before we had left for the day. I sank into my bed, eventually falling asleep.

Great job

Amazing job. Wasn't expecting him to have another kid from a different relationship in this story. Kudos for them for not resenting each other or the kid though. Great job
