The One Night That Changed My Life Forever

Happy, just happy.

* A/n Okay so I feel absolutely terrible...I've been adapting to university life and midterms and all that fun stuff. So I'm really sorry that this is what I have to post after a month. It is coming to a slow end... It's one of those things i could drag on forever but I have a few more things and then duh duh duh... Thanks for any of those that still read this... if you so I'm sorry for this crap I'm pulling ;) Love ya'll xoxoxo Jordan *

"Mom, Dad good luck." Sam said waving at us.

"You kids be good for Auntie El okay."

"Mhmm."

"Are you sure you want to take all three of them?" I asked El one last time.

"Yes. I will be fine. It will give me something to do when all of you are gone.

"Hopefully just one more game and then we can take them with us to LA."

"Are you sure that you will even be playing LA?"

"Well its not set in stone, but I have a good feeling that we with see another conference final showdown like previous years, but anything can happen."

"Well then, go win that last game." El said chuckling before Pat and I waved goodbye and headed back towards the car, and towards the airport to board the team bus. We were one win away from returning to the conference finals, yet again but this time we will make it count I'm sure of it.

LA Game 6 Hawks lead 3 games to 2

"Momma." Bella squealed as she jumped from my brothers arms into mine.

"Hi baby girl. Were you Pat and Sam good for Uncle Scott?"

"Yeah!" She nodded.

"Haha were they?" I asked my brother chuckling.

"Angels." He said smiling softly.

"Thank goodness! I was worried about leaving them down here for so long. I was hoping so hard they were playing nice."

"No they were perfect, and Grace was here to help."

"Speaking of Grace where is that girl?"

"Couch. Go see for yourself."

"Oh my goodness that is just too precious." I said quietly and quickly snapping a picture. "Doesn't that make you want to have kids Scotty." I asked patting his shoulder smirking.

"We are going to wait until next summer to get married, Grace has a lot coming up with work to get hired on full time so we will probably settle down shortly after that."

"I don't know how she does it. Two full time jobs." I looked up at him smirking.

"Hey!" He exclaimed to no one in the back yard.

"You love me bro." I said laughing.

"I d--"

"Momma can I go play in the sand?" Sam asked.

"Yes, but not too far."

"Mee too momee." Bella exclaimed

"Alright, but you take care of her okay Sam."

An hour later the house was filled with my sleeping children, one sleeping fiancé and my brother and I reminiscing on the back porch.

"So have you still been getting the letters?"

"Yeah. We got one more. Nothing too specific or anything. But I just don't understand what happened that she would leave her kid but still take the time to write out letters to us."

"Are you two going to look into it?"

"Yeah. We are going to wait and see if we get anymore. I think it's the right thing to do even if that means I have to admit that Sam is another woman's child."

"It will all work out. So how are you and Patrick?"

"Good, good. Playoffs has gotten us both on the edge but it's been a good learning experience for our relationship. We've had tons of people taking the kids off our hands and letting us sleep out the exhaustion."

"We loved having them here."

"You don't know how good it is to hear that. Honestly I love my children but this week and a half has been exactly what we needed. And look, one more win and we could be in the finals."

"So you're sure you don't mind keeping them for one more day?" I asked my brother after an afternoon of catching up.

"No I don't. I love your kids. Now shoo don't be late. The team should be getting in from the airport soon."

"I love you Scotty!" I said giving him one last hug before heading back towards the hotel. I walked up to the sight of the bus getting unloaded.

"Ah there you are." Pat said bringing me into a quick embrace and leaving a quick kiss on my forehead.

"Yes. Just got here. How was the flight?"

"Normal. Quiet, like real quiet."

"Everyone in a pre- game mode eh?"

"I think so." He said chuckling. "How were the kids?"

"OH my gosh I have to show you this picture!" I exclaimed grabbing my phone and opening it to the picture.

"Wow. He looks good on her."

"I know right. I asked Scotty what the future held inshore for them, but he's making me wait." I said frowning.

"Well… you know we could just make another." He whispered into my ear, sending a slight shiver down my body.

"Let's focus on the ones we've got." I said laughing.

"I get it, but I wouldn't be upset if we had another."

"We'll see what life has in store for us." I said laughing as we walked hand in hand through the lobby and into the elevator.

"It can't hurt to practice though right?" Patrick asked shutting the door behind him and looking at me with those eyes. Damn I'm a sucker for those eyes.

"One time. This is the playoffs remember."

"And we hockey players have to work out remember?" He said smirking. " Plus the game is tomorrow night, we've got time to kill." He said enveloping me into a hug.

"Mmm why did I marry someone so damn irresistible?" I groaned lying back on the bed.

"Have you looked in the mirror?" Pat chuckled flopping beside me. "You're not too bad yourself you know." He said winking.

"I love you." I said chuckling and leaning into his touch.

"So nice to hear you say that again." He said drawing me closer. "So effing nice." He said bringing his lips to mine. "I love you too." He whispered into my lips, and with that I was done for.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1….

"We did it!" I exclaimed jumping off the bench. The game had been nothing short but exciting, and nail biting if I wasn't wearing gloves and in the action every few minutes.

"Rach!" Pat said picking me up and twirling around.

"Captain!" I exclaimed before jumping onto Jonny's back. "Can you believe it? Can you fucking believe it?"

"Thank you. Just thank you!" He said engulfing me in a huge Jonny bear hug reserved for special times and people.

"It was all you Jonny." I said looking back out at the sight. "So this is what it feels like eh?"

"Yeah." He said a permanent smile plastered across his face. "Go experience it. You deserve it Mrs. Imma steal the Conn Smythe from under all yalls noses."

"Pfftt. no." I said laughing. "But I will enjoy it as who knows when I'll get another chance."

"Oh I was being dead serious. You will be MVP. Family time? or do we get ya for another season?"

"I'd love a couple more seasons, but who's kidding who life obviously doesn't follow normal patterns for me so we will just have to play it by ear."

"Eh hem. You ready?" He asked slugging my shoulder gently.

"Seriously Jonny, its not going to be me." I said laughing.

… and the conn smythe trophy is making history tonight as we'd like to congratulate the first ever woman to receive the award, Mrs. Rachel Kane.

"Told you." Jon whispered from behind me giving me a push towards the trophy.

"Congratulations." Bettman said shaking my hand and taking a picture with me, before letting me return to the team.

"Holy shit." I exclaimed skating back.

"Hey I heard that!" My mom exclaimed walking towards me and giving me a huge hug.

"Sorry." I said sheepishly.

"You guys did it!" She exclaimed.

"Who would of thought my seemingly stupid childhood dream would actually come true."

"Everyone's so proud of you sweetie. Now would it be too much to ask for a picture of you, Patrick and the kids with the cup and this nice piece of hardware." She said pointing to the trophy in my hands.

"Yeah sure. Where is everyone?"

"We are just over beside the net. Patrick has been entertaining the two old enough to get it, and the little one is with your dad."

" Alright let me help you back. " I said balancing the trophy on my one side and allowing my mom to grab my arm as I glided alongside her. The pictures turned out absolutely adorable. Baby Patrick in the bowl of the cup with Bella in Patrick's arms and Sam beside the cup. I had my own family. Sure we had our ups and down, life had definitely got in the way, but this was it. A picture perfect moment of pure happiness. A moment I couldn't imagine spending with anyone else. For the first time in my life I felt completely whole. This is where I was supposed to be.

Great job

Amazing job. Wasn't expecting him to have another kid from a different relationship in this story. Kudos for them for not resenting each other or the kid though. Great job
