The Diary of an Unintentional Puck Slut

Last night I was alone for what seemed like the first time since the twins were born. Brandon’s family has been here every day since we returned, and my mom flew out as soon as she could, so it’s been busy.
But last night I was finally alone in the nursery with Eloise, sitting in a rocking chair that overlooks the lake. I was deep in thought about a lot of things. Mostly something Brandon had said to me when we were alone at the doctors the day the twins were born. Between contractions I had managed to ask him something that had been on my mind a lot lately.
“What made you change your mind?” He looked confused, so I continued. “When you were in California, did something happen? Because when you left I thought that was probably going to be it for us, and you had every right to leave me. I mean, I slept with your brother, that is definitely grounds for breaking up.”
“Yeah, it probably is for most people, but not for us,” he smiled, and thought for a minute before continuing. “Nothing really happened while I was in San Jose, but I realized that you are too important and what we have is very unique and not worth losing over something like that.”
I laughed, “‘Very unique’ is an interesting way of describing us.”
‘It’s true though, we’re not like most couples. Think about how Sid would have reacted if you’d done that to him.”
“Yeah, he’d definitely be mad if I slept with Taylor,” I laughed, “But no, I think I get what you’re saying. Because I cheated with you, you should expect me to cheat on you.”
“No, that’s not it. I know that’s not you; you were in a bad place, and now you’re not, hopefully.”
“These past few weeks with you have been amazing. I hope you know that I don’t ever want to do anything like that again to hurt you.”
“I know you didn’t do it to hurt me; I blame Mark more than you,” he replied, holding my hand as I had another contraction.
“Tell me more about San Jose. I need distractions,” I said as I recovered.
“Ummm, let’s see,” I could tell he was trying to think of anything to say. “I was warm, very sunny, I know you’ll like that. I get to play with TK again, possibly on the same line, so that’s exciting.”
“Tyler Kennedy, I forgot he got traded before you moved here. We only played together for a few months in Pittsburgh, but he was probably the person I was closest to on the team.”
“And then he got traded? That’s so sad.”
“Yeah, but that happens.”
And now Brandon was getting sent from Pittsburgh to San Jose, kind of ironic.
Apparently he even looked at some of the houses we’d talked about.
I am genuinely looking forward to this! As much as I loved being in Pittsburgh, after everything that has happened there, it’ll be a good way to start over. Not just for me, but for Brandon and I, and the twins.
P.S.: Eric Staal will be visiting sometime this summer, to see his daughter. That’ll be so weird for him.
Short chapter, but it's something I forgot to add to the last one.
Also, I needed to distract myself from the trade rumors about Brandon : (
I have an idea for an Olli Maatta fic, (I fell in love with him at the Olympics) so if you're interested let me know.
Questions? Comments? Feedback? I love hearing from you guys!
