In Your Eyes

Twenty-seven

Sidney closed his eyes and felt intense pressure spread over his shoulders and up to his neck. Piper's hands were incredibly adept and efficient. They moved over his body with just the right amount of pressure in any given spot, loosening up a lot of what was once very tense.

"Feel okay?"

"I didn't realize you could press that hard..." he groaned, feeling Piper knead a part of his shoulder muscle that was clearly very tight. "But yes...very okay."

She smiled, rolling her hands over his skin. "Not too hard, I hope? You have to tell me if it is."

Sid could hardly concentrate it felt so good. A weird calming had come over him at the feel of her hands, as well as a rather inconvenient sense of being extremely turned on, despite the pain. "No, it's just right." He flinched a little and Piper eased up. "Really."

"When you flinch like that - does it feel like a tickle or does it feel like a deep muscle pain?"

"A tickle."

"Good." Piper increased the motion of her hand over the base of his neck. "That tells me I'm at least working something out of you."

Sid opened his eyes and looked up from his stretched-out position on the bed. He gave Piper a tiny smile, which quickly disappeared because he flinched again. "Shit...."

"Still okay?" Piper playfully flicked his earlobe. "Tell me, Crosby!"

"Yes, yes - all good....wow..." His eyes slowly closed and his mouth remained ajar. "Shit yeah, now it feels good."

"I think I got it." Piper used her palm to press into the spot she had just worked on. "Feel anything?"

"Not a thing."

"Perfect!" She tapped the meat of his shoulder rather happily and then took a seat next to him. "Maybe that will help for a while; who knows. I hope it does."

Sid rolled onto his side and propped his head up on his hand. "How did you learn to do massage?"

"I don't know much...just some basics I picked up one summer at a retreat. The same retreat Dani and I met at."

"Ahhh. I remember now." He took her hand in his, rolling the pad of his thumb softly over her skin. "Thank you. Again."

"You're welcome, for the 30th time" she said with a grin. "Does your head still hurt any?" She ran her fingers through his hair, mimicking a mother checking her child for a fever.

Sid hadn't really had any time to focus on the pain in his head since she'd gotten there. He was too stunned that she'd come all that way, that late at night, to be at his side. It wasn't a concussion (he didn't think so, anyway), it wasn't a broken jaw or a broken bone....but she came nonetheless. The reality was, if he focused enough to finally take his eyes off of Piper, he would know his head still hurt. But after her massage around his head and shoulders, he did feel pretty good.

"It does, doesn't it" Piper said glumly after Sid didn't answer. "Guess I'll just have to stay and play nurse until it doesn't anymore."

She leaned forward and pressed her lips softly against his, and Sid felt like he was floating. Forget the headache and forget the knots that plagued his upper body, he was with Piper again and he didn't want her to leave.

"I do feel better though" he said when their mouths parted. "Whatever you do to me, keep doing."

"I'll be sure to." Piper ran her hand over the sharp angle of his jaw, taking those one or two seconds of silence to admire his handsomeness. Even after an entire night of no sleep, Sid looked as if he'd had eight solid hours. Her, on the other hand? She'd be happy if she never saw another mirror ever again.

"Are you planning on going to sleep any time soon?" Sidney asked. There was concern in his eyes now as he looked at her. "You've had a long night."

"So have you." She smiled weakly. "And you need it more than I do."

Sid scooted over on the bed and motioned towards the free spot next to him. She looked as if she was about to protest, but Sid wasn't having it. "Just for a little?" He made a sad-puppy face and Piper couldn't resist. When she lay down next to him, Sid remained propped up on his hand so he could look at her. He couldn't stop looking at her. It felt very much like the first time he'd ever set eyes on her several months ago.

"This IS more comfortable" she said softly. "Though I suppose a nap isn't that far off if I stay here for very long."

"I'll take one with you, then."

"When do you have to go?"

Sid breathed out a disappointed sigh. "In a few hours. Lucky for you, today's an optional skate."

"Lucky for me, huh?" Piper flicked one of her eyebrows with sass.

They kissed again, and Sid felt just the softest brush of her tongue against his. He held her face with one hand, guiding her with him in a slow rhythm. Only when he needed to come up for air did he separate from her. To keep himself from getting an even bigger hard on than the one he felt from Piper's massage, Sidney decided to quit while he was ahead.

Pressing his head into the pillow next to Piper's, he watched as she shifted onto her side to face him. Their fingers laced together and Sid lifted her hand to his mouth and kissed it.

They fell asleep together within minutes.

Dressed in a plain white undershirt, jeans, and his black Reebok hat, Sid left Piper still sleeping in his bed when he departed for the Consol Energy Center. He slept through most of the optional practice, but his headache was bothering him too much to ignore at this point. A slow, steady pain had continued to pulse somewhere in the depths behind his eyes, leaving him feeling uncomfortable letting it go on any longer.

Weaving through the highways and traffic on his way to the arena, Sid gazed out at the bright gold bridges that crossed the rivers and gave Pittsburgh its iconic look. He chose one that would get him to the arena, though it wasn't necessarily the quickest route to take. He was hoping to dally just long enough in getting there that the guys would be gone...or at least most of them. Sid wanted as few people as possible to know he was stopping by for a headache.

He flicked his turn signal on as he came down the off-ramp, deciding to take the long way around before approaching the entrance to the staff parking garage like he always did. When he rolled up in his large SUV, Sid saw the typical handful of fans who wanted pictures with him. Glancing about, he noticed one or two had jerseys, others had pictures, all holding out black markers for him to use to sign them with. He made sure to stop in front of a young boy standing with his mom. The boy looked up at him with awe in his young eyes.

"SIDNEY!" they all yelled once he rolled his window down. He waved, courteous as always. No matter how many faces he saw per day who all wanted to get their picture with him or have him sign something, he tried to give them that chance. He did not take his fans lightly, and gave them whatever time he could spare.

"Hey there" Sid said, reaching out to the boy. "How are ya?"

"Hi Sid" he replied softly. He looked up at his mother, suddenly clamming up.

She laughed while looking at Sid apologetically. "He's a little shy....Would you mind if he got your picture with you?"

"Not at all." Sid smiled as best he could when the little boy turned and faced his mother's cell phone. She snapped the picture quickly and thanked him again. Sid waved at the boy, making sure to thank them both for coming out.

As he pulled forward slowly in hopes of making it into the parking garage, two teenage girls jumped towards the car, successfully stopping him. Since Sid still had his window down, he stopped and let them have their minute. "Hi. How are you?"

"SIDNEY omigod...omigod....Stacey!"

They turned towards one another and squealed.

Sid sat there feeling awkward, but he tried to understand. He always tried to understand. Despite his attempts, he agreed that if he lived to be 90 years old, he still wouldn't understand. He also wondered why they weren't in school.Maybe college age? Sid couldn't tell. All their faces blended together to him. It didn't help that they were dressed similarly in matching shirts with his name on them. In their hands they held two t-shirts of the same type but were white instead of black.

"Can we get you to sign our shirts?!?! We love you SO MUCH" the thinner, darker haired girl said.

"You're our favorite player ever. In the history of ever" the other said. She was maybe the same age, possibly older.

"Sure." He smiled at them. "Got a marker?"

The dark haired girl gave him one, making an obvious attempt to touch his hand when she passed it to him. Sid jotted down his name and the number 87 as he always did, then took the other shirt and did the same.

"Oh, by the way?"

He glanced up at the older girl.

"Your girlfriend?" She set her jaw slightly as she said this. "You could really do so much better. She isn't even famous."

The dark haired friend slapped her in the arm and they looked at one another angrily. "Shut up, Tiffany."

"What?!? You said it yourself!"

Sid handed back the shirts and the marker. "Thanks for coming out today" he said, skipping right past her remark about Piper.

"Honestly though." Tiffany's eyes narrowed on him. "At least date a model or something. Not some plain jane--"

"--Oh. My. GOD. Tiff!"

Sidney rolled his window up, waving at them and the others standing farther behind. "Thanks everyone." He held up his hand and smiled until his tinted window rolled the rest of the way up.

The second he passed through the gate and into the garage where he was temporarily safe, he blew out the air he was holding in in his lungs. Fuck, he thought with a shake of his head.

None of it helped the slow pounding happening in his head, so Sid quickly removed any concern that came from the comment made by the girl outside. He slipped the lanyard of his entrance pass around his neck and made his way down to the locker rooms.

His goal was to find someone he could talk to about his headache without making too much of a commotion. Thankfully, the rest of the team had left for the day and Byslma was still in his office. Sid found him there talking with Dana Heinze, the equipment manager. Both were dressed in their usual black Pens jackets and black wind pants, likely wrapping both their mornings up with a little personal chat.

Approaching the door slowly, Sid poked his head in. "Dana - you talking about me again?"

"Well, well!" Dana's cheerful smile pointed in Sid's direction as he and Dan turned towards the door. "Look who showed up."

"Fashionably late." Sid gave him a friendly nudge in the side as he entered. "I try and model myself after you, Dana."

His laughter filled the room. "You win this round, Sid."

"Mark my point up in your book."

It was a friendly little game he and Dana played whenever they had the chance to actually chat about things other than whether his blades were sharpened evenly or if he had anymore black tape he could use before a game. Dana was one of his favorites around the arena as a result, and Sid never passed up a chance to chirp him.

Next to Dana stood Dan Bylsma, who was all smiles as well. "I marked you down for maintenance today, Sid."

"Thanks, Coach." He wiped his mouth nervously. "That's, um…that's actually why I'm here. Do you have a few minutes?"

"Sure, what's up?"

Sid glanced between his coach and his equipment manager, giving Dana a sympathetic smile. Dana took the hint as agreeably as he did with anything else.

"Don't have to give me that look twice!" He gave a wave in the air to both of them on his way out of the office.

When the door closed behind, Dan looked at Sid from behind his small glasses. "What's on your mind? Something wrong?"

Sidney shrugged. "You know, I'm not sure....and I'm leery to raise any alarms here, but I've had a pretty persistent headache since I was checked into the boards a few games ago." He watched a slight amount of controlled fear slip into Dan's shrewd gaze.

"And you played both games that followed with this headache?"

"It's been on and off."

"But was it on when you were on the ice?" Dan looked at him seriously. "This is the face of someone who hopes your answer is no."

Sid chuckled. "No, it wasn't. I made sure of that."

Dan set his shoulders. "Good. That's good to hear."

He walked around the side of his desk and flipped a few pages beyond the page it was currently on. Sid waited patiently, his hands shoved in the pockets of his jacket. Even then, standing there, he felt a throbbing in the back of his head. It was the throb that Piper was able to relieve for a time, but much to his dismay…it was back.

"Okay, looks like we can get you off practice tomorrow for another maintenance day while you visit with Ray." Dan looked over his glasses. "You prepared to deal with questions?"

Sid gave a solid nod. "As always." He studied Dan's expression, wondering what he was thinking. "I don't think it's serious, Coach."

"I know. I trust you."

"I just want to be sure."

Dan smiled. "Sid, it's fine. I'd rather be safe than sorry as well." He came back around and gave him a friendly squeeze on the shoulder. "When they ask why a double maintenance day, I'll handle it for you."

"No, it's okay, I can--"

"--Let me. Alright?" Dan's tight-lipped smile grew wider. "You've been dealing with enough these days. And suffice to say....your female fans are pissed. I don't envy you right now."

He had to laugh at that. "Yeah, it's not been all that fun, that's for sure."

"How is everything though?"

Sid nodded humbly. "Really good, Coach. Really good." He looked up and smiled. "She means a lot to me."

Rare words from Sidney Crosby, Dan thought to himself. "Well she must be if you're willing to tell Mario about her and go public."

Rubbing the back of his neck, Sid looked down at the ground. "Yeah, I know. I made the right move, though."

"I don't doubt it for one second."

Sid moves his eyes upwards. Dan looked as relaxed as ever; his eyes were crinkled at the corners giving evidence to his happiness. His entire disposition was easy-going and Sid found it rather appealing.

"I kind of like this new Sidney Crosby I'm seeing" Dan said with a smirk.

"Oh yeah?" He rubbed the bill of his hat bashfully. "Well thanks, Coach."

"Keep it up, okay? The guys like seeing ya happy. And don't worry about the headache. We'll take care of that first thing tomorrow."

Sid inhaled deeply, a feeling of contentment sweeping over him. It was nice to know how well-received the news of Piper was with the people he respected the most: his coach and his teammates.

Despite the way his head felt, Sid felt really, really, really damn good.

"Ow...ow....ow....OWW."

James stopped thrusting. "What?"

"Just wait a sec...." Ali tried to catch her breath. "You don't have to fuck harder in order to make a baby, James."

"Sorry" he said, his grin giving away that he wasn't. "Getting a little excited, I guess." He bent his head and kissed her hard while his hips picked up the pace.

Ali felt like she was on a sexual roller coaster. James was hornier, more excited, and more willing to fuck than ever before, and she had to believe it was because of their new plan to get off birth control and go for it. The only problem with any of that was that James considered it a rush to some finish line on a track that didn't exist.

"Babe..." she moaned, feeling her body being rocked hard again. "Position....switch...."

James pulled out enthusiastically. "What'll it be....side? Back? You want the back, don't ya?"

She was laughing as she felt him flip her over onto her stomach, his tongue warm against the skin of her back as he licked and kissed his way down her spine. Eager for the change, Ali lifted her ass in the air and James wasted zero seconds in taking it. She felt his dick slide inside her pussy and passion overtook her.

"How's it feel now?" James' breath was hot on her neck, his chest pressed flat against her back and a hand guiding her hips against his. Ali lost herself in the moment, unable to answer as she felt James hit the perfect spot.

"I'll take that as a great" he uttered, lifting his chest off Ali in order to control her hips with both hands.

He continued at a reasonable pace.......and then jumped into warp speed again. Ali held on to the bed with her nails grasping at the loose sheets. "Babe..."

"Fuck that's fucking hot" he grunted.

Ali's hair was in her face now, her moans choppy from James' intense pace. "James!"

He slowed. "Too much?" He was completely out of breath. Leaning forward while pumping slower, he kissed Ali's cheek. "Sorry."

"Jesus." Ali wiped her hair back off her face. She reached back and drew James' face close to hers, still feeling him sliding in and out of her. "It's not a race, James."

"I know." He kissed her. "Sorry."

"No sorrys." She kissed him back.

"Wanna do this right...."

"You will."

James closed his eyes and rested his forehead on hers. "Wanna be the best..."

"You are."

James started to speed up. Ali gripped his jaw with her hand, forcing him to look at her. "Sloooowww."

James never took his eyes off her as he brought his tempo back down, and his lips formed a sly grin. Ali kept her gaze on his, the marine color of his eyes turning an even more intense shade of blue. It was an incredibly powerful moment: Ali turned sideways while on one hand and both knees, her free hand holding at his neck while James grasped her hips, his eyes staring into hers.

"Fuck you're incredible."

Ali felt herself begin to tense about him inside her. Her nails dug into his hair, holding on as she felt James ramp it up again. Just hold on this time....you're close anyways....just hold on... She bit her lip and closed her eyes, feeling his hands clamp her waist even more.

James wanted to finish and he wanted to finish with a bang. Ali had to let go of him in order to hold onto the bed, and all he felt was how ridiculously good her body was and how hot her moans were. When she cried out his name this time, it wasn't from anything other than pleasure. He drove it home, giving her whatever he had left from their intense session. When he felt Ali finally collapse beneath him and her pussy give way to her orgasm, James let go of her hips and buried himself as far as he could inside. He felt his own release happen not long after, hoping that maybe it would result in something. His little guys had to be good swimmers. They had to be.

As their breathing came down and their bodies relaxed further, Ali made small groaning sounds as she tried to flip over onto her back. James helped her, then wrapped her into his arms.

"Fuck" she said, her breath still ragged. Glancing up, she caught the naughtiness in James' eyes. "What?"

"What were those noises?"

Ali laughed. "That's tomorrow's sore muscles and sore back making an appearance today."

"Ahhhh...." James traced the line of her mouth, outlining her lips with his finger. "Gotta earn it, babe."

She grabbed his finger. "I know you're a hockey player, and I know you've been one just about your entire life. Everything you love that you've ever gotten - you've won, and worked hard to win. But if you keep pounding me like you're a stallion trying to finish the Kentucky Derby, I might die."

He laughed softly. "I can't make any promises."

"You have to!" Ali made a sad face. "You don't want me to put up a Do Not Enter sign, do you?"

"On your pussy?"

"No, James - on our house."

"You'd never not let me in."

They stared at each other, and Ali did her best to act like that wasn't true. When she couldn't hold it anymore, her serious face broke and they both started to laugh.

"You goof." James kissed the corner of her mouth. "I promise I'll go slower next time."

"Thank you."

"No babies just because I have the hips of a fucking champ."

Ali rolled her eyes.

"Can we try again later?" James asked.

Their gazes met and Ali mussed up his hair lovingly. "Sure, why not."

"How long are you staying this time?" Danika's voice was full of surprise. She was still trying to figure out how she'd just seen Piper less than 3 days ago, yet she just got a call from her in Pittsburgh.

"Only a couple of days" Piper answered calmly. "Just until we find out if he's suffering from something more serious than what we hope."

"We, we, we. You sound like you're already married."

Piper detected the teasing tone in her friend's voice and the smile she knew was also there. "Very funny."

"So he gets these often or something?"

"I guess so, but this time seems to be worrying him more than previous times." Piper considered how tough Sid had to really be to deal mentally and physically with what came with his passion for hockey. Being with him the past 24 hours made that all the more real. "You don't have to worry though about the studio though - I was working on the schedule before I left and have the next two months figured out.....for now. Everything's covered with no possible mishaps through at least Saturday."

It occurred to her then that she'd totally forgotten to ask Sid about the possibility of moving to Pittsburgh. It was the only thing on her mind in Bar Harbor since she'd been back, but it slipped out of her focus with the emergency trip back and the excitement of---

Oh my God.
Oh my God, that's right.

Piper nearly stopped breathing.

"You still there?" Dani asked with a laugh.

"Yeah, but I completely forgot to tell you...." She actually felt embarrassed she forgot to tell her best friend the news. "He said it."

Dani went silent. "Wait."

Piper did. She knew she had to look terribly dorky with the dumb smile she wore, but she couldn't give a single fuck how she looked.

"He said he loved you?"

"Yes."

Dani inhaled sharply. "NO. WAY."

"Yes way!"

"When!?!?"

When it mattered. Piper bit her bottom lip happily. "When I showed up two nights ago. To be with him."

"Giiiirrrllll." Dani clicked her tongue. "The points you must be racking up right now…"

She laughed. "Dani, it's not like that…no one's keeping score."

"I know, I'm just SAYING! My god, this is huge. HUGE, Piper. I'm so excited for you!"

With a sigh, Piper hopped up onto Sid's kitchen table, her feet swinging back and forth like a kid. "Thank you! I honestly can't believe it. I didn't even think twice when I got the idea to come down here. Guess it was meant to happen this way."

"I know you didn't think twice" Dani said, her grin audible over the phone. "You've always been one who set their mind to something and stuck to it."

Oh, how I wish that were true now. Piper held back the words that wanted to come out at that time. She didn't want Dani to know how she'd been struggling with the one major decision that could, in all actuality, impact Dani's life as much as her own.

"Orrr not?"

"No, I'm here" Piper said quickly. "Sorry. Just kind of in a daze."

"That's what happens when you fly a thousand miles away in the middle of the night to be with your boy toy."

"Yeah." She looked down at her bare feet, the bright violet of her toenail polish made her happy. Swinging her feet made her happy. The fact that she was tired but was playing it off as though she wasn't even made her happy. "Dani?"

"Yes?"

She almost told her. The words were there on the tip of her tongue: What do you think about moving to Pittsburgh?, but Piper hesitated.

It was one second too long, and the moment passed.

"Wow, you really are out of it, aren't you?" Dani said, filling the silence. "I wish I could see your face."

"It looks the same as always, Dan."

"Yeah, right. I saw Sid. I saw what you're tapping every night! I bet there's a silly looking grin plastered all over your pretty face."

Piper laughed out loud. "Thanks. I gotta go. He should be coming home any moment now, and then…." She paused, trying to think. "Well then, I don't really know what we'll do. See how his diagnosis went, I guess?"

"You have fun playing Nurse Lake" Dani teased. "Love you. Get back here soon, okay?"

"I'll do my best! Later."

Piper hung up and held the phone against her chest. With a blissful, content sigh, she realized she made the right move in coming back to the city to be with Sid. It felt right from the moment she had the idea after he called her. It didn't even occur to her it would cost serious money or cost her time away from home again.

It seemed to be the norm anymore.
Being here, in Pittsburgh.
With Sid.

Piper's phone buzzed in her hands and scared her right out of her daydream. She fumbled with the phone as she tried to see who was calling. When she saw it was Sid, her smile grew ten sizes bigger. "Hey Handsome. On your way home, I hope?"

When no one said anything, Piper's smile faltered. "Sid?"

"It's a concussion."

6-28-14 ** A NOTE TO MY READERS **

As a result of James getting traded, I've found myself at a loss for words; a loss I'm not sure I'll be quick to recover from. The trade was a hard hit, and it will take some time for me to get over the initial hurt.

I wanted to post a message to at least tell all of you who have followed my stories up to this point that after this, I'm not sure how long it's going to be before I post a new story. James will forever be a Penguin to me, and likely to many of you as well. I'm just not sure how to go forward right now. As a result - I can't promise I'll be back, but I hope to be. I really do.

Let's let the dust settle and the hurt fade...and maybe we'll find one other again on this wonderful site.

Thank you all again for your support...It really has made writing so much fun for me, and I don't want to go forward with another story until it's fun again. Right now - that doesn't seem plausible.

I'll leave it open for any of you to message me anytime, if you'd like. I will occasionally check in just to see how everyone's doing. :-)

Regards,
Winter
