In Your Eyes

Twenty-eight

"It's minor, but its an official diagnosis." Sid hung his head, staring at his hands. "I wasn't expecting it, honestly. I just thought...." He trailed off, his stare going blank.

Piper sat next to him at the kitchen table. Sidney's house was bare, yes...but now it felt especially empty; at least to Piper, it did. On the dark wood of the table sat Sid's car keys, resting in the spot where he'd dropped them the minute he came inside. He still wore his jacket, his hat, and his shoes. This was all the further they made it after he'd come home.

Sidney pinched the bridge of his nose. "Fuck."

"It's only minor." Piper rubbed his knee. "They said you'd miss the last two games of pre-season....which isn't bad, right?"

"No. Not bad." He shook his head. "Not good, either." How many seasons have I started this way, he wondered. Too many was his answer. If I hadn't fallen...if that fucker wouldn't have checked me...

"What do you have to do now? Going forward with this?" Piper asked.

Her eyes were as round and full as Sid had seen them, their green shade turned slightly dim. It was clear she was worried, but she was relying on him to give her the information that would help her understand better. Sid wished he had the answers, but he knew there was only one thing he needed: time.

"Just have to wait and see. No practice. No conditioning." He looked down and sighed. "Just waiting."

Piper slid forward in her chair, her knees practically touching his. Both of her hands, steady and confident, gripped his knees firmly. "You've been through this before, but I really believe that everything will work out. You go so hard, Sid. You put everything you have into everything you do." She smiled, tilting her head to get a look at his down-turned gaze. "Maybe your body is telling you to slow down a little this time."

The hope in her voice soothed Sid in ways he wasn't sure were even possible. Because I've never had someone like her here in the past when this happened. He wished everything she said was true, but he learned the hard way that one couldn't hope too much. Realistically, he would just have to go by what the doctors told him. It was a medical dance and a PR nightmare.

"I'll stay in Pittsburgh with you as long as this takes."

Sid's eyes shot upwards. "Piper..."

"No arguments."

"But I can't let you do that--"

"--I want to, though."

Sid stared at her in disbelief. The selfish part of him wanted this badly; the rational part of him knew it was impossible. He toyed with the idea: him and Piper, together, for longer than a few days at a time. An image of them in his house flashed into his mind: Piper waking up next to him and never leaving, him coming back from a game and seeing her there to greet him, having her at the games, being there for her when she hurt, caring for her if she got sick...

"I have to tell you something" Piper said, interrupting him from his thoughts. Her expression looked more worrisome now than it had when Sid revealed his news.

"Okay, go ahead." He watched her inhale deeply, steadying herself for whatever she had to tell him. It wasn't helping his nerves, but he remained as calm as he could.

"I've been thinking; ever since I left last week, that maybe..." She flicked a hand through her wavy hair. "That maybe I should…Oh, to hell with it: I wanted to ask you about the possibility of me moving here."

Moving here. Sid's heart jumped into his throat.

"To Pittsburgh" Piper added.

He smiled. "I knew what you meant."

"I thought maybe it would make this a lot easier" Piper continued. "And I know I have a lot of shit to figure out back in Maine, but I really considered everything about this. I can get a place of my own and--"

She was silenced by Sid's mouth. Both of his hands clasped either side of her face, his lips pressed hard onto hers. She could feel him smiling into the kiss, his mouth expertly maneuvering hers now that they were well versed in one another's rhythm.

"Stay" he breathed, then kissed her again. "Stay with me."

"Here?" Piper looked into his eyes with wonder.

Sid's grin took up his entire handsome face. "Yes. Live with me."

She exhaled, completely amazed.

"I want you to live with me" Sid said, and saw Piper begin to giggle.

"I knew what you meant" she replied, mimicking him playfully. "And I will."

They both slid off their chairs and into one another's arms in a tight hug. Sid planted a kiss to her neck, then to her cheek, her temple, and then her lips. His hands held her face again as he gazed lovingly into her eyes.

"I love you."

Piper nodded, tears coming to her eyes. "I know."

James stared at Paul, his expression totally blank. "No." He blinked. "Really?"

Paul looked up from the bench and nodded. "Go ask Coach."

Glancing over, James looked around the locker room as most of the team got ready for their morning skate. It was a game day, and it had struck him as odd that Crosby wasn't taping his sticks or already dressed and on the ice like he normally was.

"Is it bad?"

"I don't know, man." Paul yanked on his laces, looping them through the holes and yanking on them again. "I heard from Glass. Might as well go ask him."

Well this isn't good, James thought. He figured Coach would be briefing them on Sid's concussion first thing on the ice, so he would exercise patience for once and wait until then. He waddled over to his stall, dressed from his skates up in gear, his hip pads sticking up over the narrow space of his waist. From there up, he looked thin and tiny compared to his padded-up bottom half.

With a thump, he sat down next to Geno and reached behind to grab his chest pads. Geno glanced over and shook his head, looking somewhat disappointed.

"What?" James slipped the padding over his head.

"Poor Sid." Geno shook his head again as he laced his skates. "He no start season again?" With a nod of his head, Geno motioned towards the giant fan set up on the ground, blowing air over their game day jerseys on a rack. "He take that and smash through all glass."

James chuckled. "Aw, G. He'll be fine. He's been down this road before, eh?"

"No excuse."

James watched his lineman and friend become even more dejected. "He'll be back in no time, okay?" He put his hand on Geno's shoulder. "He will. It's Sid."

Geno stopped lacing his skates long enough to give James a quick smile, then went back to business. James figured it was all he could do to calm his friend's nerves and concerns, for now anyways. He didn't even know the whole story himself.

After ten more minutes of gearing up, the team headed out onto the ice. Just as James suspected, all three of their coaches summoned them over to center ice, where they formed a circle so all could hear.

"Alright, so I'm sure you all want to know how bad it is with Sid" Bylsma began. "It is a concussion, albeit a minor one, and it happened at the Blackhawks game."

James leaned on his stick, eyes going to the ice. Fuck.

"He's having a few more tests done today, but I have plenty of confidence he'll be back for the first game next Friday."

A few of the guys tapped their sticks on the ice, pleased with this news. James shifted his gaze sideways to see Geno's reaction, but Geno was as stone-faced as ever.

"So we'll have to do some line shifting for now, which could be good news for some of you. I'd like to get some of the rookies in there with you, Geno…Suttsy…Kunitz, want to play center? Let's see how you guys play--"

Bylsma went on and on, but James' mind drifted. He couldn't help but wonder if Ali knew…and more importantly, did Piper know? Surely she would have heard from Crosby by now. Hell, she was likely watching the game when it happened, so maybe it wouldn't take her too much by surprise if Sid told her the news.

These thoughts only stuck around for a few moments, as James and the rest of the team got deep into their practice, which left little room to focus on much else. Crosby never showed up to practice, like many thought he would, and so they'd wait to talk to their captain regarding his diagnosis until later that night at the game.

Following practice, James grabbed some lunch with Paulie to-go and headed back to their side of town. Since Paul drove, they pulled into his driveway first, but they both noticed a car parked in James' driveway.

James gazed over the top of Paul's car, but didn't quite recognize the red car parked at his place. He looked at Paulie, who just shrugged.

"Hang on a sec, k?"

"I'll bring your shit inside" Paul said, already on the move up to his front entrance.

James trotted across the street and over to his house just in time to see Piper walking down from the walkway that lead up to the front door. "Well you weren't who I was expecting!"

Piper's bright smile appeared. "Sorry - I thought maybe Ali was around and just not answering her phone."

James folded his arms over his chest and gave her a smart look. "Don't play innocent like that."

"What!?" Piper started to laugh. "Innocent!?"

"Aren't you supposed to be in Maine?"

Piper saw the keen look in James' blue eyes and could tell he nabbed her. "Yes, but--"

"--So you know, then?"

"Yes."

James smiled. "And came all the way back here to be with him." He watched her nod sweetly. "That's cool of you, Piper."

She tried to shrug humbly. "It was the least I could do."

James tilted his head towards her little red car. "Where'd this come from?"

"Rental."

"Ohhh! So you surprised him!" James was nodding proudly. "Nice going."

Piper smiled at the thickness of James' accent. She was surprised, even now, by the accent of all these guys she'd been around the past few months after meeting Sid. Of all of them, and not counting Sidney himself, she enjoyed James' accent the most.

"You hungry?" James asked her. "Ali's at class, then going straight to work after that. So if you're looking for some company, you got it."

"Really?" Piper lifted an eyebrow at him. "Hmm….thought you didn't cook?"

"I don't, but I do have take out."

She laughed. "Then it's a deal."

James opened the house for her, then went back across the street to retrieve the food. He was jut thinking how glad he was he got double the amount of the Thai dish he loved so much…at least now he could offer Piper a decent amount.

He set her up well in the living room; two dishes, plenty of food, a Gatorade for him and a lemon water for her. He tore into his lunch and was halfway done before Piper took her third bite.

"You still coming to the game tonight?" he asked, mouth full of food.

Piper nodded. "Think so. I mean…I want to. I won't get to sit with Sid, right?"

"He'll be up in the suite, but you'll likely sit a few rows down. Same area though."

Piper pushed the noodles on her plate around idly. "So when he's injured like this, I still can't sit with him?"

"No. It's a weird set-up. Don't let it get ya down. You'll have Ali, anyways." James took a swig of his Gatorade. "If I know my lady right, I bet she brings the entertainment when we don't."

"Oh come on, you guys definitely do!" Piper said with a giggle. "But yeah, she sure loves hockey, doesn't she?"

"Thankfully." James gave Piper a smile.

They went back to eating silently. The tv was on in front of them, and James seemed to flick between conversation, food, and the show just as easily as anything. Piper, however, was lost in her own thoughts most of the time. It must have been somewhat visible, because just as she took a forkful of noodles, James nudged her.

"How long ya here for now?"

She held up a finger as she tried to chew, and he laughed.

"Sorry…"

A hand over her mouth, Piper shook her head. "Not sure." She chewed some more and swallowed. "Although can I tell you something? And you swear not to spread it around? Ali excluded, obviously. She'll know soon enough."

James glanced down at Piper's lithe body. She was dressed a form-fitting cream colored sweater, which was fairly thin to the point he could see her white tank beneath. She wore gray knit pants and flats, and her hair was down. Nothing looked out of the ordinary.

Piper saw him looking and she busted out laughing. "James Neal!"

He stared at her, confusion in his eyes. "What?"

"I'm not pregnant, dammit!"

"OH." James pretended that wasn't even close to what he was suspecting.

She pushed him lightly. "Sid asked me to live with him."

James dropped his fork. It clanked against the dish before tumbling onto the floor. He turned and faced Piper, his eyes wide and round.

Piper glanced sideways uneasily. "Um…"

"Sidney fucking Crosby…" James said. "Asked you…to live with him."

She nodded, her wavy hair shaking slightly.

"He asked you to live with him."

"Yes, James."

"As in - live in his house. WITH him."

Piper giggled. "You're weirder than Ali gives you credit for."

"No, no, no, no, no Miss Thang - there'll be no changing of subjects." James literally had to take a second to absorb the information. The past few months had been a series of events where his captain was literally rewriting the books on himself, and James continued to be surprised by it. This piece of information topped them all.

His eyes met Piper's. "So are you going for it?"

"I want to."

"Want to doesn't sound a whole lot like yes to me."

"Okay, I think I will" she said with a smirk.

"What's holding ya back?"

Piper looked up and saw that the element of disbelief had left James' face and was replaced by a look of genuine interest. "Well there's this little thing called my business…"

"Oh, that's right."

"Yeah." Piper brought a fork full of noodles curled about the utensil to her mouth. "But we don't need to ruin a perfectly good lunch with that kind of heaviness." She wrapped her lips around the fork, hoping James would take the hint. It was her cross to bear, and she didn't want it to affect any more people than it needed to.

"Well, at least you're not pregnant" James said with a grin.

She laughed. "That is true."

James sighed and lay back against the couch, his long legs spreading out before him and under the coffee table. He took his hat off to run a hand through his thick hair, before replacing it.

Piper wondered if that sigh meant more than he was just tired and full from lunch. "Something up?"

James shook his head 'no'.

"Hmm….that's the lie." She bit at a piece of broccoli and smiled at him. "I can spot someone tense from a mile away."

"Well why should we ruin a perfectly good lunch with my heaviness?" He tossed a smirk in Piper's direction to see how she'd handle it. She tossed one right back.

"Try me."

"But it wouldn't be fair."

"It would be very fair" Piper replied. "I'm eating your lunch. The least I can do is listen if you wanna talk about something."

James considered this for a few seconds, his hand rubbing the bill of his white hat. He didn't know if this went against some sort of girl-code or what, but the way Piper seemed interested made him want to talk to her. When his eyes moved sideways, he caught her smiling.

"Just say whatever it is, James."

"I don't think my boys are strong swimmers."

Piper sat there silently. "Who?"

"My boys." He smiled. "Ali isn't getting pregnant."

"Oh….." Piper's eyebrows lifted slightly. "OH that…"

James took his hat off and grabbed a fist of his hair in frustration. "I know it's only been a couple weeks or whatever, but uh….I really thought, ya know…you just do what you've always done and boom. Baby time."

Piper had been glancing around the room, trying to put together the pieces that were missing. The last time her and Ali had chatted about this sort of thing, Ali wasn't really for or against having a baby. Now James was sitting here telling her they were full-on trying.

I missed something somewhere here, she thought to herself.

"Tell me it takes longer" James asked her. "Cause I'll go nuts if it's a problem on my end."

"Oh…oh God, James, yes it takes a while" Piper said. "Just because you declare it, doesn't mean it just…" She snapped her fingers. "…starts."

"Right, yeah." He stared at the floor, unwilling to look at her. "So it's not me?"

"I highly doubt it's you." Piper rubbed his shoulder, feeling just how tense he actually was. "This is really bothering you, isn't it?"

James turned his head to meet her calm gaze. "Yeah, kinda. I don't know."

"Just take your time. It'll happen when it's supposed to." When Piper said this, she couldn't help but think of when Sidney said he loved her….on his time, at his pace, and it happened when it was supposed to.

James nodded, and his mouth formed a small smile. "Thanks."

"You're welcome."

"Does this make us girlfriends now?" James' smile grew, and the confidence that was normally in his gaze had returned in full force.

Piper nodded and laughed. "BFFs forever, basically."

* * *

Sidney walked down the stairway in his house and rounded the corner to the kitchen. Piper was checking her phone when he walked in, and when she looked up, what she saw almost stole her breath. Sid had on a navy blue suit, a crisp white shirt, and a tie the color of the darkest blue ink. Of course, he walked in having no clue just how good he looked. He really didn't know how he still managed to make Piper's heart flutter irregularly any time she saw him like this.

Sid grabbed his phone and shoved it into one of his pockets, glancing over to see Piper standing there staring at him. "What?"

She walked over slowly, turning him towards her with a little tug of his tie. "You look very handsome."

"It's the suit." Sid smiled at her bashfully. "But thank you. You look stunning as usual."

"Thank you." Piper ran her hands over the lapel of his suit jacket, feeling the pressed fabric that covered all of the steel beneath; steel she desperately wanted to undress and feel bare beneath her hands. "How's your head?"

"Better, surprisingly." He allowed his eyes to follow her hands as they ran up to his collar. "But it's probably because all the blood is flowing south from you touching me and looking at me like that."

Piper patted his chest. "But really - it feels better?"

"Yes." Sid took her hands in his. "You know how this goes tonight, right?"

"Right. Even though I think it's stupid."

He laughed. "I can't argue that." He bent his head and kissed her. "Ready?"

Piper held out her hand. "Lead the way, Captain."

It was the first time Sid had driven to the arena on a game night with a girl in the passenger seat next to him. Sure, it wasn't a game he was playing in, but it was still well out of his superstitious pre-game ritual norm. It was the first time he drove the usual route in his pre-game routine, walked his routine walk around the arena, and took the stairs he always took whenever he was injured and had to sit in the suite…with someone by his side. Piper had always wondered about his odd pre game patterns of behavior, but whatever made him comfortable, she supported. As he and Piper walked into the elevator, they turned to one another and kissed, and then their hands separated.

The elevator doors opened, and Sid allowed Piper to exit first. She gave him a quick smile and then went in the direction toward where she would join Ali and some of the others for the game. Sid watched after her, then turned and made his first public appearance since the diagnosis.

The game went on without a hitch. Lines were changed in Sid's absence, and he watched closely from his standing spot next to Mario and Ray to see how they worked. He talked lightly with others around him, watched the game, checked his phone during times where he knew they went to commercial, and did his best not to stare too long at Piper in the private seating below him.

He did take a glance now and then; he couldn't help himself. He thought of it like a peek through a window he rarely got to look in, seeing how Piper may act during a game, even though he wasn't playing. She acted as he knew she would: collectedly and cheerfully, but with great energy for the team. She cheered with as much enthusiasm for the guys who were on the ice, despite Sid not being one of them. In a drapey nude colored button-front blouse, with just the front tucked into her dark jeans, Piper stood out from the others in her own sort of way. She rolled the cuffs of her jeans up to show just a hint of her shapely calves and ankles, before the pop of color she had in the turquoise blue of her flats. No jersey to mark herself as his. No Penguins emblem to signify her support. Yet…Sid thought she had more presence than anyone else in that arena.

Could she be any more perfect?

When he looked back to the ice, he realized the camera had been on him while he let his gaze drift towards Piper. He turned his eyes away from the giant screens that were hard to ignore in his forefront, but knew that all cameras were now on Piper. He pretended to watch the ice, but what he saw out of the corner of his eye only made him realize how in love with Piper he really was: when the camera turned on her, and the now well-known title was once again tagged to the bottom of her name: Piper Lake, girlfriend of Sidney Crosby, she waved.

That simple wave, as innocent as it was, garnered cheers from around the arena. When those who hadn't been paying attention turned and looked at the jumbotron, they, too, began to cheer.

The camera flicked back to Sid, who kept his smile muted, but he smiled nonetheless. His eyes shifted towards Piper, who was now looking up at him. She gave him a wink, and then went back to watching the game.

*

After the game ended, Sid gave the appropriate amount of media interviews and stayed to congratulate his teammates. Afterwards, he and Piper went home. His headache was still there, but he chose to ignore it and focus on what was right there in front of him. It was evident that both he and Piper were tired, but for much different reasons. Sid was tired from his headache and was tired of trying to keep up appearances all evening, while Piper was tired from trying to do the best she could to be Sid's supportive girlfriend and disregard any of the sexually-charged posters about him or the shady glares she got from some of the female fans, or even the amount of times she appeared on the screen throughout the night. It was still a lot for her to adjust to, but she prided herself on handling it at least a little better than before.

Once they made it home, Piper felt her exhaustion really hit home. The first thing she did was head upstairs to get into some more comfortable clothes. At the small dresser and its accompanying mirror in the bedroom, she slipped off her bright pink bangle bracelet and her gold necklace. That's when she felt Sid come up behind her, slipping his arms around her waist. He didn't say anything; he merely stood there with her in his arms, rocking her gently back and forth as they stood.

Piper remained silent, feeling the wide breadth of his arms envelop her. His nose pushed into her hair and he inhaled, his breath tickling her skin enough to make her smile. He tugged at the neckline of her blouse, exposing a patch of bare skin ripe for the taking. The second Piper felt his lips press against the soft flesh, she was powerless to stop what followed.

Sid moved her hair gently to one side, giving him more access to her body he wanted badly. All night he stared at her, wanting her, wishing he could show her how proud she made him to be there at his side. He wanted to show her what they could have together if she came to live with him. He wanted to show her how in love with her he truly was.

In the reflection of the mirror, Piper watched her and Sidney as he moved to undress her. She watched her breathing increase as he slipped his hands beneath her blouse. She saw the very second her nipples hardened from the cool feel of the fabric and the contrasting warmth of his large hands. She saw every kiss he planted down the back of her neck as he let the fabric fall to the floor. When she tried to move, Sid held her still. With a glance upwards, his intense gaze met hers in the mirror, and she knew then what he wanted.

When her jeans fell to the floor, Piper felt unfairly undressed when compared to the suit Sidney still wore. Standing there in her white lace bra and matching thong, she followed Sid's movements closely while he removed his jacket and his belt. Piper studied the hunger in his eyes, their chocolate color now so dark they looked black, full of desire and lust. Her skin prickled with goosebumps, anticipating whatever that hunger may mean for her and her body.

Sid pressed himself against her bare back, his hands sliding up her creamy thighs to the curve of her hip, then up the slender curve of her waist…his hand coming to rest on the lace of her bra.

"Sidney…" she breathed, feeling his hands squeeze at her breast.

"Shhh."

He kissed her neck eagerly, silencing her further. The cool of the room, the heat from Sid's large body pressed tight against hers, the fabric of his shirt coarse against her skin compared to the smoothness of his lips tasting her skin whenever they could. Piper had to close her eyes when she felt his hand slide upward from her breast to her neck, clasping gently. His fingers deftly moved her thong to the side, playing at her folds, never entering but always teasing. In this position, Piper could move very little; pinned between the wood of the low dresser and the mass of Sid's body behind her.

Sid felt how dripping wet Piper was, his fingers slick from his brief time teasing her. As much as he wanted to spend the rest of the night working her body over and over, he was eager to slip inside that wetness and feel the closeness of her that he wanted all night. He unzipped his pants, yanking them down far enough but never stepping out of them. With his sleeves already rolled to the elbow, Sid looked as if he was on a mission….and he was.

Piper gasped the second she felt the head of his dick slip inside, followed by all his glorious length, right down to the hilt where he held himself inside. She looked into the mirror at the same time Sidney did, and they both smirked.

Neither spoke, unless moans and heavy breathing counted. Their bodies did the work, their expressions in the mirror did the talking. Sid bent Piper onto the flat pane of the dresser, her hands wiping away the necklace and bracelets she had taken off earlier. With her face so close to the mirror, she saw the passion in her half-lidded eyes. Behind her, Sid pursed his lips and used every muscle he had on reserve to give all of himself to her. When their eyes met in the reflection, Sid gave Piper a devilish half-grin before driving himself inside her even deeper.

The solid wood rocked as hard as Piper did with every one of his powerful thrusts, the pleasure coming in a rhythm she wasn't sure she could ride out for very long. Sid lifted her off the dresser again, holding her against him, his hand sliding up the front, gripping at her breasts.

In the mirror, they looked like trained professionals; something out of one of the hottest triple-X rated movies Piper might have ever seen in her life, only now - she was the star. With her thong pulled to the side and Sid half-dressed in his suit, they could've been a high profile business couple; they could've been something more scandalous that that, but no….It was NHL's son, and just a regular girl from the coast of Maine.

Sid pushed his mouth against Piper's neck, nearly biting her from the need he had to feel every inch of her somewhere on him. His hand held her face, his nose in her hair with his mouth open and panting against her neck. He could feel the sweat dripping down his body beneath his shirt. He didn't get to skate tonight, and he needed the workout. He needed to feel powerful when so much right now made him feel powerless. Piper's tiny moans made Sid feel as powerful as ever, and he wanted to bring her to the brink.

While one of his hands held her delicate jaw, Sid snaked his other hand down beneath the fabric of her tiny thong. With the pad of his middle finger, he expertly rubbed at her button, swollen and ready for him. Piper bucked forward at the very first touch, but he held her perfectly still while he fucked her from behind while rubbing her around the front.

"Cum for me" he whispered angrily. His breath was as raspy as Piper's. I want you to watch yourself cum." Piper's moans and whimpers were hot; they made Sid dangerously close to losing it, but he held on. "I want you to see how fucking sexy you are."

Piper's eyes flew open, her wavy light brown hair falling in her face which Sid's hand was turning towards the mirror more. She locked her eyes onto his, seeing just how into this Sidney really was. He was beyond gorgeous. He was beyond strong. Piper wasn't sure there were words for that moment; it was too intense.

"Sidney…"

He kissed the side of her face, barely hanging on as he felt the first ripple of her pussy. His finger moved frantically, his hips keeping their hard rhythm to ensure she got there.

"Oh….oh shit…Sid…."

He grunted as he drove home, finally feeling Piper's body release just as her moans became uncontrolled cries of pleasure. She fell forward, desperately reaching for something on the dresser to hold on to. Sid gave her his arms, and she clung to them as she felt her orgasm sweep over her. He almost laughed against the skin of her back, that's how good she felt. His headache was all but nonexistent as he felt himself release, draining every single frustration and upset he felt the past few days.

He rested against Piper's shoulders as they were both bent over the dresser now. In the mirror, they glanced up to see nothing but two sweaty heads, damp hair, and flushed cheeks. Sid laughed, and then Piper did. He sighed happily, nuzzling his nose next to her face.

"Beautiful girl."

She closed her eyes when she felt his kiss, still so warm against her blazing hot skin. Beads of sweat on his upper lip left a cool print against her cheek, making her miss his mouth already.

"Where…where did that come from…" she exhaled with some difficulty. Sid's weight was tremendous over her, but she bore it without a care in the world.

"Just watching you all night." He kissed her again, then lifted himself off her back. "Your wave kind of sealed the deal."

Piper turned her head so she could see Sid's smile.

"It's what I want every game" he said.

Needs. Wants.

A conversation Piper had with herself flashed through her mind, and then right back out again. Instead, all she could do was grin. "I want that too, Sid."

6-28-14 ** A NOTE TO MY READERS **

As a result of James getting traded, I've found myself at a loss for words; a loss I'm not sure I'll be quick to recover from. The trade was a hard hit, and it will take some time for me to get over the initial hurt.

I wanted to post a message to at least tell all of you who have followed my stories up to this point that after this, I'm not sure how long it's going to be before I post a new story. James will forever be a Penguin to me, and likely to many of you as well. I'm just not sure how to go forward right now. As a result - I can't promise I'll be back, but I hope to be. I really do.

Let's let the dust settle and the hurt fade...and maybe we'll find one other again on this wonderful site.

Thank you all again for your support...It really has made writing so much fun for me, and I don't want to go forward with another story until it's fun again. Right now - that doesn't seem plausible.

I'll leave it open for any of you to message me anytime, if you'd like. I will occasionally check in just to see how everyone's doing. :-)

Regards,
Winter
