Olympic Break

Jordan

Jordan
She laid in her bed, watching the TV. Autumn was out with Sidney since they were back together. As if everyone hadn't seen it coming. Jake was out with the guys so she decided to have a night by herself. She had a face mask on, her hair up, and she was sitting comfortable in sweatpants and one of Jake's sweaters.
The hotel room door opened. Jordan leaned forward and saw Jake pulling off his coat. He walked into where she was a few seconds later. He pouted at her. She smiled back at him. He let out a groan as he laid on top of her. She wrapped her arms around his waist. His feet draped off the bed. His head sat on her chest.
They laid like this for a while before Jake rolled over, onto the empty bed space beside Jordan. He looked up at her with the same frown on his face. She squeezed his hand before getting up to take off her mask.
As she cleared her face, she frowned at herself in the mirror. She knew why Jake was so upset. His heart was hurting. She knew it killed him seeing his teammates and friends playing while he wasn't. She knew he absolutely hated it.
She walked into the open part of the room. Jake was laying on the bed. He was on his side, his arm under his head as he watched the TV. Jordan smiled at how young he looked. He looked up at her.
She sat on the bed, staring at him. He sighed, sitting up. She knew he could tell what her sitting meant. She cuddled up to him, wrapping her arms around his torso while he draped an arm over her shoulders. She looked up and kissed his chin.
"I'm sorry, Jake." Jordan breathed.
"For making me sit up? Babe, I'd rather cudd,"
"No, dumbass. I'm sorry you have to sit and watch your friends playing when you're not. I can't imagine how hard that is." She explained.
He shrugged. "It's hard, yeah, but at least I get to spend time with you." He pecked her lips.
"Don't feel like you can't be upset around me. I want to help." She told him.
"I know you do and I'll try but I'm a pretty quiet guy." He hugged her into him.
Jordan's face pressed to his chest as she laughed. "Quiet? Please." Jake glared at her.
They laid in each other's arms for the rest of the night. When in neared midnight and Autumn sent a text to Jordan that she wouldn't be home, the couple laying in the bed started to laugh.
"It's been like a day since they've gotten back together." Jordan shook her head.
"They really care about each other, Jord. It's kinda crazy. You can just tell." Jake explained.
"Yeah, I heard he likes her more than you like me." She taunted.
He scoffed, pulling her closer. "I bullshitted that so Autumn would go find him and leave us with some alone time." He spoke, kissing her neck.
Jordan laughed and pulled his face in front of hers. Jake pressed his forehead to hers. He pecked her lips a few times. She just smiled. He gave her another kiss that was much longer.
"Thank you, a lot, for talking with Autumn. She makes me really mad sometimes." Jordan shook her head.
"It's nothing. If seeing your friends happy is going to make you happy, I'm going to do everything to help that." He explained.
"You make me happier than any other person in the world." She stated.
He rolled his eyes. "That's what you think but how happy you make me is probably the happiest any person has ever felt or is currently feeling."
She raised her eyebrows at him before she laughed. "You're annoying." She said.
"But you love me." He clicked his tongue.
"Yeah, lets go with that." She smirked.
Jordan woke up the next morning. Autumn was rushing around the room. Jordan sat up, looking beside her to see Jake gone. She saw her phone sitting in his previous spot and assumed he left it there. Autumn walked in from the washroom, her hair half done.
"Did you have fun with Sid last night?" Jordan mocked.
Autumn rolled her eyes, walking into the washroom. "About as much fun as you and Jake had." She spat. Jordan's cheeks went red. "He told me to tell you to check your phone."
Jordan did as she was instructed. Jake texted her to say he was going shopping to find her something nice. She growled. She hated when he bought her things. She called him an asshole before she walked into the washroom. Autumn was applying mascara.
"Sid taking you out?" Jordan asked.
"It's their only day without a game, so yeah." Autumn explained.
"Can I ask you something?" Jordan chimed, leaning on the door frame. Autumn nodded, continuing to get ready. "What would you do if Sidney didn't make Team Canada and was really upset about it?"
"Well, first off, it's Sidney, so he'd obviously make the team, I mean,"
"Okay, but hypothetically speaking, Autumn!" Jordan shouted.
"Hypothetically speaking, the way Sidney would react is different to the way Jake is reacting. It depends on the person. What I'd do for Sid wouldn't necessarily help Jake." She told Jordan.
"How would you make Sid talk to you about it?" Jordan whined.
"I wouldn't make him. Sidney would just talk. He doesn't shut up." Autumn groaned.
"Meant to be." Jordan mumbled.
"Don't make Jake talk. Let him know you're there for him and then drop it. Don't try to pry it out of him." Autumn said to Jordan. "You're Jake's best friend before his girlfriend. He'll confide in you eventually. Just give him time."
Jordan was alone again once Autumn left. She fell asleep, waking up once it was dark out. She was still alone. She checked her phone to see it was just after nine. Being worried, she dialled Jake's number. It rang three times before he answered.
"Babe, where are you?" She asked.
"Downstairs. I'm coming up now!" He shouted.
She silently sighed. He was drunk and she wasn't one to deal with drunk people. She hated drinking. The line went dead. She waited a few minutes. The door swung open, hitting the wall. Jake stumbled over to Jordan. He dropped face down in the bed.
"You're wasted." She growled.
"Don't be mad. I had a rough night, Jord." He whined.
"What was rough about?" She rubbed his back.
"Being around a bunch of Olympians when I'm a fucking loser." He huffed.
"Jake, you're not a loser. I thought you said you'd talk to me about this." She said.
He shook his head, standing up. "I can't talk to you about it! You don't understand how I'm feeling! No one understands how I'm feeling! All my fucking friends are out there playing for their countries and I'm just here!" He screamed.
"Help me understand!" She yelled.
"I can't help because you will never be in the same situation!" He hollered.
She frowned up at him. He sighed, kissing her as he climbed back on the bed. He pulled away, leaving his forehead on hers. She could feel her eyes watering. She hated seeing him so upset.
"I'm sorry for yelling. Just let me sleep it off." He kissed her again.
He laid down, facing away from her. She just sat beside him. He fell asleep quickly and rolled towards her instantly. He was always touching her in his sleep. His arm draped over her thighs. She slid down beside him, facing him. He had tears on his cheeks. She frowned, wiping them away. She wished she could help him.
