Olympic Break

Jake

Jake
He laid in his bed, blanket over his head. He was hungover and moping. He was mad at himself for the way he spoke to Jordan. Wasted or not, she was just trying to help and she didn't deserve the way he spoke to her. He had no idea where she was, or how he was going to apologize.
As if she read his thoughts, she walked into the room. She had bags in her arms, signifying she went shopping. She give him a small smile as she put her bags on Autumn's empty bed. Jordan went through the bags silently before grabbing a small brown one. She handed it to Jake, walking back to her bags.
"What's this?" He spoke.
"I got you something to eat." Jordan answered, her tone harsh.
"Oh, thank you." He smiled at the bag. "Are we not going to talk about last night?"
She shrugged. "I don't know what you want me to say." She admitted.
"Anything?" He sighed.
"Look, I'm always trying to help you and you never do anything but get mad. It's like this thing means nothing to you." She breathe, facing away from him.
"'This thing'? You mean our relationship." He growled.
"I wasn't too sure. I mean, there doesn't seem to be that much trust in ours." Jordan laughed.
"You're being stupid." Jake rolled his eyes.
"Why is it stupid whenever I'm hurt?" She shouted at him. "You come back drunk and yell at me because you're upset but then you won't talk to me. Sorry if I'm willing to talk to you when I'm upset. I guess we're pretty different."
"I don't understand why you're so whiny." He shook his head.
She shook hers, walking out of the room. "Go fuck yourself, Jake." She spat, slamming the door behind her.
He let out a growl, throwing his food across the room. He buried his head in his hands. He hated himself. He just continued to say stupid things. He was going to be the reason he and Jordan fell apart.
The door slammed open and he shot up. He walked around the corner, expecting his girlfriend, but was greeted by an angry brunette, pushing him to the ground. He looked up at Autumn who was standing with her arms crossed. He'd be lying it he said he wasn't terrified.
"What the fuck did you do?" She snarled.
"I'm a dick." He sighed, sitting up.
"No shit, but why this time?" Autumn hissed.
"I keep taking out how upset I am on Jord instead of just talking to her about it." He explained. "It just hurts not being on Team USA when you work your whole life to get there, to get a medal for your country."
"Pause." She held her hand out to stop him. "Do exactly what you just did with me, with Jordan. Confide in her, Jake. She cares and she wants to help you. Plus, she actually wants to hear what you're saying."
"But I,"
"Am a total fucking asshole. I know. Just go talk with her so I don't come back here again, when I'm coming back to get some sleep, and have to play therapist." She growled.
She walked to her bed and shoved all Jordan's bags off before climbing in. Jake looked at her for a minute. He stood up, walking out of the hotel room door. He saw Jordan sitting on the bench in front of the elevator. She was looking down at her phone. He heard her sniffle and realized she was crying. His stride got faster. She looked up as he approached her but looked back down.
"Babe," He breathed, sitting beside her. "Please don't cry."
He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her into him. He swung his other arm around her back to keep her close. He loved holding her close to him. It wasn't much of an activity, but it was his favourite thing to do.
"I hate how you hide your feelings from me, Jake. I'm not going to thing any less of you for being sad." She mumbled against you.
He took a deep breath. "I am sad, you're right. I'm sad because I can't muster up the courage to tell my beautiful, caring girlfriend that I'm disappointed in myself for being a sack of shit who didn't make the Olympic team."
"Jake, shut up. Not everything is about the Olympics. Yeah, it's a huge honour, but at the end of the day, you're still playing hockey. Maybe not for your country, but at least they get to see you play." She argued.
"I'm not saying it isn't great to play for Toronto, but it's just the greatest achievement I could make as an athlete to make it to the games." He explained. "I feel like I disappointed everyone. My family, myself, you,"
Her lips pressed to his. She held his face as their lips worked together. She pulled apart, continue to hold his face.
"I'm not disappointed. I've never been disappointed, Jake." She whispered. "I know you tried for this year's, but there's always 2018."
"I'll still be pretty and young then too." He grinned.
"Lets hope, or you're getting dumped." She teased.
He rolled his eyes, standing up. He extended his hand to hers. She took it and the pair walked back to their hotel room. They walked in to see the dark curtains were drawn, making the room nearly black. Jordan switched the light on and heard a groan from Autumn, who was covering her head with a pillow.
"Sid wear you out?" Jake smirked.
"No, Jon harassing me about finding someone for Patrick did." She explained.
"Patrick?" Jordan cocked a brow.
"Stupid Patrick Kane. He could have anyone in the world but I had to go on a hunt to find him a girl. I don't even have any friends besides you two." Autumn ranted.
"And Sid wore you out." Jordan taunted.
"Shut up." She whined.
Jordan laughed before sliding her arms around Jake's waist. He looked down at her and just smiled. He couldn't believe how much he cared for one person. He couldn't believe she was his. He couldn't believe a lot of things about her. He pecked her lips quickly.
"I love you." He muttered before he kissed her again.
