Olympic Break

Beau

Beau
He watched Keirstyn as she tanned beside him. Her stomach was slightly caved as she laid on her back. Her dark, long locks were tied on top of her head. Her black bathing suit, with too small of bottoms that were driving him crazy, sat on her tanned skin. Her black sunglasses were covering her brown eyes. She had flip flops sitting beside her.
He was propped up on his elbows so he could see the beach. In reality, he just wanted to stare at her. Keirstyn was a mystery to him.
He didn't understand how three nights before, she though the measly cut on her foot was going to cause her death, but today, she sat with nothing but a small bandaid over it.
He didn't understand how three days before, she stomped down the beach, yelling about her brother selling drugs, although he wasn't, and the most she said to him today was 'hi Beau'.
The way she said 'hi Beau' was stuck in his mind. Her voice was soft but had a bite to it too. As if she was saying 'this date better go well or I'm going to rip your heart out'. He shook off that thought, laying down beside her.
"Three dates and you still haven't 'woo'd me in the slightest, Beau." She broke her silence as she sat up, sitting criss cross, while facing him. "I thought you were going to, like, throw me around in the water until we ended up making out, or something."
Rather throw you around on a bed. He thought.
"I've done something to 'woo' you if you've said 'yes' three times." He shrugged "I mean, we could do that, if you want, but I thought my presence was suffice."
"What does 'suffice' mean?" She cocked a brow.
He shot up, leaning towards her face. "Are you kidding?" He gasped.
"I'm not good with words! I have a low vocabulary count." She defended.
Beau let out a grown, laying back down. "Suffice means 'just as good', as in, 'your intelligence is suffice to a fifth grader's.'" He explained.
"Hey!" She smacked his stomach. "I'm not word smart, it doesn't mean I'm dumb."
He chuckled, sitting back up. "Get your shit, we're going else where."
He stood up, pulling the towel he brought. Keirstyn watched him from her spot on the ground.
He intentionally turned so his butt was in her face. He felt her grab it before he spun around. He glared at her. She smiled and shrugged. Her hand extended to his for help up. He pulled her up.
They were chest to chest, hand in hand as Keirstyn rose. She stared up at him as he looked down to her. She tilted her head to the side before she laughed. He shoved her away gently.
"What?" He nodded at her.
"My friend literally described you on the phone the first night." She shook her head, grabbing her things. "The whole, 'blonde hair, blue eyes', thing."
"Look around, Keirstyn," He gestured at the beach. "Every guy in this state looks like me."
She rolled her eyes as she folded her towel. "I bet they aren't all assholes like you." She hissed.
He nodded as the started to walk back to his car. "And you would win that bet."
She rolled her eyes, shoving him away. He came back, putting his arms around her. One over her shoulders, and the other across her chest. She whined but he just continued to guide her to his car.
Beau drove to his favourite beach in all of Cali. The reason being, his favourite spot was on this beach. He parked as close as he could to the path to his spot. Keirstyn stared at him in confusion. He just smiled at her, climbing out of his car. She copied his actions, waiting on her side of the car for him to come over.
He grabbed her hand. He started to walk, leading the way for his date. She just looked around at the beach. He watched her stare. Realization hit when she noticed him guiding her further from the beach. He let out a chuckle as she tried to break for the beach. He slipped two fingers into the belt loops of her shorts, which he had made her put on.
He told her he didn't want guys staring at the girl he was with so she needed to get dressed. They came to a compromise that she would cover her 'little-left-to-imagine' bottoms, as Beau called them, if he covered his 'washboard' abs, also Beau's words. Now she was wearing shorts while he had a t-shirt on.
He pulled her towards him by her belt loops. Her hands rested on his torso as she frowned up at him. He grinned at her.
"I wanna go to the beach." She whined, leaning away from him.
"We are! Just my special place." He explained.
"That sounds like the place you take girls you ask on dates to take advantage of them." She growled, crossing her arms.
"I only take advantage of girls in bedrooms," He stated, leaning his mouth closer to her ear. "And only when they ask me too."
Keirstyn scoffed, shoving him away. He laughed, turning and walking ahead a bit. He stopped when he realized she wasn't following. He checked to make sure she hadn't run to the beach and saw her just standing there.
"Are you coming?" He asked.
"Are you gonna hold my hand?" She pouted.
"If you want me to." He shrugged.
Keirstyn nodded. He sighed, walking down the path to her. He linked his fingers with hers before they continued their walk to his special place.
Beau sat in silence once they got to where he wanted to go. He felt Keirstyn's eyes on him but said nothing. He just looked out at the ocean, his feet dangling above it. His eyes shifted to her much smaller feet doing the same. He smiled to himself. He heard her let out a deep sigh.
"How many other girls have you brought here?" She nudged him.
"A lot." He admitted. Keirstyn scoffed. "But, I only brought them out here because I was trying to sleep with them, not because I actually liked them."
She scoffed. "How many girls have you said that to?"
He looked into her eyes. "Just you."
He watched her swallow hard before she broke their stare. His eyes didn't leave her though. He watched as she exhaled and stared out to the horizon.
"You're not going to say anything to that?" He laughed.
"I don't know what to say when you went from 'on the prowl' to 'sweet and sensitive'." She stated. "And I couldn't think of a way to tell you I was into you too."
"Just like that was great." He mentioned.
She chuckled. "I live in a different country, Beau. This wouldn't," She stopped herself.
"It wouldn't work, yeah, I know. But we still have, what, a week until you leave? We'll make the best of that." He said, nodding to himself.
He wrapped an arm around Keirstyn as she leaned against his chest and rested her hands on his thigh. He rubbed her arm, resting his chin on the top of her head.
The week didn't go fast like Beau expected it. It was only three days since their third date and they had spent every second of those days together.
He sat in a long chair with Keirstyn against his chest as she sat between his legs.
Keirstyn insisted they put the chair right where the small opening in her deck was so they could people watch. Beau didn't argue since he enjoyed the past time just as much.
He had his arms around her waist, playing with the hem of her shirt. She just rested against him. He loved it.
Tyler, Keirstyn's brother, was down on the beach with some of Beau's friends.
He felt her exhale against him. "He's so annoying." She spoke.
"He's pretty chill, Keirstyn." Beau argued.
"So chill that he gave me a black eye when I was fifteen." She huffed.
Beau broke into laughter. Keirstyn shot up, turning to face him. She glared as he finished laughing. His hands grabbed either side of her waist, pulling her back down against him.
"Babe, that's hilarious. C'mon." He sighed as she rested back against him.
"First off, no it wasn't. I got a fat lip too." She hissed. He laughed again, earning an elbow to the ribs. "And second off, don't call me 'babe'. I hate you."
"You couldn't hate me if you tried." He chuckled, kissing her temple.
"I could and I wouldn't have to put much effort in." She crossed her arms.
"You're being mean today, huh?" He bumped her thigh with his knee.
"I'm really tired. I think I got too much sun." She sighed against him.
"We could go inside and sleep, if you want?" He suggested.
"No. I'm not going to waste out last couple of days." She argued.
"I think we can sacrifice a day to make sure you don't die, Keirstyn." He rolled his eyes, ushering her up.
She stood with a groan. He shook his head at her as he followed her into her bedroom. She laid down in the bed as he closed the curtains over her sliding glass doors.
He climbed in beside her. She spun around, cuddling up to him and tangling her legs in his. He started to laugh.
"What?" She looked up at him.
"Your legs." He smirked.
"I was too lazy to shave today. Please stop." She whined, pulling her legs away.
"It's fine. I was just teasing." He stopped her by retangling his legs and kissing her forehead.
Beau held Keirstyn close. He felt her breathing slow down as she began to dose off. He had done a lot of thinking, and he wanted to spend more time with her.
He looked down at the sleeping girl in his arms. Her dark hair swept across her face. He lifted one hand to tuck it behind her ear. Her eyes fluttered open at his touch. She looked up at him with her dark, tired eyes.
"Can I ask you something?" He whispered.
"If I don't have to move to answer." She replied, closing her eyes again.
He pressed his lips to her temple. "Stay with me for the rest of my break?" He asked.
Her eyes shot open and up to him. "Beau, I,"
"Don't say you can't if you're going to use the excuses of school or work because Tyler told me you finished school and you work for your mom's boyfriend so you can take work off whenever you like." He cut her off.
"I don't have to money to stay." She spoke.
"I do."
"I couldn't."
"You're going to."
She glared at him while he grinned. She sighed, closing her eyes again. She buried her face in his chest. He waited for her to try to argue again.
"I'll talk to my mom tomorrow." She mumbled.
He smiled. "Hey, look at me."
She tilted her head back. His eyes locked on hers before his lips found hers. They broke apart a few moments later. He just watched her eyes as she did the same. She laughed, looking down.
"Go figure, I find a decent guy who can actually put up with my shit when I go on vacation halfway across the world." She said against his chest.
"Go figure, I'm a professional athlete who's closer than you think during the season." He spoke into her hair.
"Pittsburgh isn't that close." She argued.
"Sure it is! It's a five hour drive." He shrugged.
"Oh no," She say up. "You are not driving five hours alone to come see me."
"Then you can drive to me." He smirked.
"No way!" She laughed.
"Well one of us are gonna have to drive so we can see each other." He stated. She frowned. "Or you could just come stay in Pittsburgh."
Keirstyn rolled her eyes. "Easy, bud. We've only been together for a week."
"If it's right, it's right." He teased. "And we're together, huh?"
"What? You don't think we are?" She cocked a brow.
"No, I do. I just didn't want to say it if you didn't think we were." He defended.
She narrowed her eyes at him before cuddling back into him. He let out a breath as he pulled her into him.
"I guess we can alternate who's driving every time or something." She sighed in defeat.
Beau grinned, hugging her close.
