Alive

Eighteen: Charmer

Ainsley smiled as she walked into her first period class. She whispered to her teacher. Her teacher gasped and walked out of the class. Ainsley turned to the class. Valerie cocked a brow at her.
"Listen, I'm throwing a party tonight. No reason, I just feel like a party. You're all more than welcome to come and to bring friends, just be respectful, yeah?" Ainsley announced.
The room broke into chatter as Ainsley walked to her seat. It was between Valerie and the wall. She sat down and smiled at her friend. Valerie narrowed her eyes at Ainsley.
"What's this party for?" Valerie poked.
Ainsley rolled her eyes. "The last guy that touched me was James. I'm in need."
"What you need is a damn boyfriend!" Valerie laughed.
Ainsley made gagging noises. Valerie shook her head, turning to the front of the class. Their teacher came in and began the lesson. Half way through the lesson, there was a knock on the door. The teacher sighed, walking to the door. She opened the door. A smiling Geno walked in. His eyes went to Valerie.
"Yes, Evgeni?" The teacher asked.
"I'm need Valerie." He explained.
"We're in the mi,"
"Please?" He cut her off.
Valerie shook her head. She walked up to the front. He smiled at her. She stepped behind him, pushing him out. He spun around, grabbing her hands. She shook her head at him with a smile on her face. He pulled her hands around his waist.
"Hi." He chimed as he hugged her.
"Go to class." She laughed, trying to to pull away.
"No! I need to see." He said, grabbing her face. She glared up at him. "I love you." He pecked her lips.
"I love you too, but I'd love you more if you got an education and didn't get kicked off the hockey team." She sighed, stepping away from him. She gave him one last kiss. "Go to class!"
He groaned, turning away from her. She smacked his butt as he continued to walk down the hall. He turned back to face her, smiling. She smiled back.
"Are you coming to Ainsley's tonight?" Valerie asked.
"Are you?" He cocked a brow.
"I think so." She nodded.
"Then yes. I'm pick you up?" He offered.
"Yes, please." She grinned.
"Love you." He called.
"Love you too." Valerie said as she walked back into her class.
The day dragged on. Ainsley went class to class, informing everyone of the party. She stood on a table at lunch and shouted it across the cafeteria. She knew there was one person she hadn't seen today, which likely meant he hadn't heard. Ainsley skipped last period and headed to the rink.
She spotted exactly who she was looking for on the ice. She grabbed a pair of the rental skates the arena had. She couldn't skate for the life of her but she was desperate for him to come. She walked out to the ice, opened the door and stepped on. He looked over at the sound of the door closing.
"Decided against school today?" She asked, not moving.
Sidney shrugged. "I got my mom to sign me out and I've been here all day." He explained. "Why are you here?"
Ainsley gasped. "A little rude, Sid." She teased.
"I didn't me,"
"I'm kidding." She laughed. "I was looking for you, actually."
"Why?" He furrowed his brows.
"Because I haven't seen you once today and I wanted to invite you to my party tonight." She shrugged.
"Oh, yeah. I'll be there." He smiled.
She nodded. "Okay. See you then." She struggled getting off the ice.
Sid laughed. "Ainsley," He called, skating over. She turned around. "Do you know how to skate?" He smirked.
Ainsley scoffed. "Obviously." She lied.
"Okay. Skate with me." He extended a hand.
She shook her head. He grabbed her hand, pulling her along. She grabbed his hand with both of hers as he dragged her along the ice. He laughed down at her. She frowned.
"Want me to teach you?" Sidney said as he moved in front of her. He skated backwards as he guided her.
"No. I need to get back to class." She pleaded.
"Fine." He let go of her hands. "Skate to the door yourself." A shit eating grin spread across his face.
"Sidney, please!" She cried, reaching out for him. "You can teach me some other time!"
"You learn now or never." He stated.
She rolled her eyes, reaching his hands out for him. He grabbed them, continuing to skate backwards. The next half hour was spent teaching Ainsley how to skate. When he felt she had the hang of it, he skated a few feet away from her. She stood in the middle of the ice, pouting.
"Skate to me." He instructed.
"What do I get out of this deal?" She challenged.
"The satisfaction of knowing the basic skill of skating." He spoke. "A skill that most eight year olds already have."
Ainsley laughed, glaring. "Fuck you."
"Maybe if you spent more time on the ice instead of on guys, you could skate." He taunted.
"Someone sounds a little bitter." She chuckled as she skated towards him.
"Maybe I'm just a little tired of hearing Marc cursing in French whenever the guys talk about you in the change room." Sidney shrugged.
She finally made it to him and he grabbed onto her. "How else are you supposed to experience physical contact if you can't live vigorously through your teammates?" She grinned.
"Are you saying I don't have my own sex life?" He laughed.
"I'm saying you're too awkward for one." She admitted. She skated towards the door, slowly. "Marc tells me everything and he tells me how all you care about is hockey. Live a little, kid."
Sidney watched her walk out, wanting to hear more of her insight. He had never met anyone with a mindset like Ainsley, and it intrigued him. He groaned, shooting a puck at the net. It hit the post and glided away. He let out a sigh.
The night rolled around and everyone occupied the Fleury's household. Most people had left as it neared four a.m. Ainsley sat in the kitchen as James rummaged through her fridge. She was sober and she didn't want to be. James stood up straight with a pack of Kraft Single Cheese Slices. Ainsley sighed, standing up.
"James Neal makes it rain Kraft Singles." He said as he swatted slice after slice off the pile.
Ainsley grabbed them off of him. She began picking the slices on the ground up. James laughed at himself. She put the slice back in the fridge and pulled James to her room. She pushed him into her bed.
"Time to sleep." She announced.
"Join me?" He pouted.
Ainsley laughed, switching the light off as she walked into the living room. Kristen was passed out in a lazy boy. She looked uncomfortable. Ainsley woke her up, taking her up to her room. Kristen dropped down beside James and Ainsley left the room without a word. James rolled over to face Kristen.
"Hey." He whispered.
"Hi." Kristen replied.
James went for the kill. He pressed his lips to hers within a second. Kristen was feeling it. She climbed on top of him. No one else was aware of what occurred in that room that night.
