Thirty Eight: Cough Syrup

"Are you going to Pam's tonight?" Ainsley asked through the phone.
Pam?" Kristen questioned as she laid in her bed.
"Pamela? Corey's girlfriend?" Ainsley tried to explain.
"Corey?"
"Crawford. The kid who got draf,"
"Oh, right!" Kristen exclaimed. "Why would I be going to her house?"
"She's having a huge party." Ainsley informed. "Marc asked me if I wanted to go with him and the guys."
"So you're going?" Kristen said as she rose from her bed.
"I mean, I want to but I don't want to go with," Ainsley stopped.
Kristen rolled her eyes as she looked out her window. "I'll go. Message everyone else about it."
"Beau's going." Ainsley sang. "And I'm pretty sure Kait, Joce, and Val are going with their boys."
"Text Felicia." Kristen instructed, watching as Sid pulled into their driveway.
"I did. She wants to go." Ainsley told her.
"Then let's do it. Find y'all some boys." Kristen chuckled.
"No thanks. I just wanna get wasted and play beer pong." Ainsley admitted.
Kristen laughed. Ainsley went on with some story about Marc. Kristen watched as Sidney walked over to the passenger's side of his car and opened the door. A blonde stepped out. Kristen's jaw dropped. He took her hand and guided her to the door. Kristen looked the girl over. The blonde had to be at least three years older than him. She recognized the girl when she flipped her hair. Her name was Trista and she had graduated their freshman year. Kristen made a beeline for her bedroom door.
"Sid just pulled up with a forty year old woman." Kristen whispered as she walked down the hall to the stairs.
"Your mother?" Ainsley questioned.
"No, Trista." Kristen added as she walked down them.
"Oh, nice." Ainsley mumbled.
Kristen rolled her eyes. "I'll text you in a bit." She said and ended the call.
Kristen made her way into the living room. Trista was sitting on the couch alone. Kristen could see her brother moving around the kitchen. She made her move and sat in the chair beside the couch. Trista looked at her in confusion. Kristen gave her a shit-eating grin.
"Hey, Trista." Kristen cooed.
"Hey, Kristen. How are you?" Trista chimed.
"I'm good. Did you hear about Sid and M,"
"Go upstairs." Sidney's voice boomed as he walked into the room.
"Nope." Kristen scoffed. "So, why are you here?"
"We're hanging out." Trista smiled at Sid as he sat down beside her.
He squeezed her knee. Kristen made gagging noises. Trista laughed, thinking it was just teasing, while Sidney glared at his sister.
"Oh, Sid, I thought you were too busy for any girls in your life?" Kristen pouted, titling her head to one side.
Sidney's face was red. "I didn't say that."
"Yes, I believe you did. While dumping my best friend, you said,"
"Kristen, shut up." Sidney growled.
She stared at him before she looked to Trista. "Tris, did you know Sid was just seeing Ainsley Fleury?" She began.
"Kristen!"
"When I say just, I mean, like, last week." She continued. Trista cocked a brow. "Yeah, he broke it off because he 'couldn't focus' on hockey."
Trista turned to Sid and frowned. He shook his head. "That's just what I told her. I just didn't want to break her heart." He lied through his teeth as he leaned towards Trista.
"And that's just what he's telling you." Kristen piped in.
"I don't understand." Trista frowned.
"Kristen, go upstairs." Sidney sighed, standing in front of her.
"You go upstairs. This is the living room, Sidney." She crossed her arms, standing in front of him.
"I'm the older twin. You can't tell me what to do." He laughed.
"I was born stronger." She shrugged.
He lifted his arm, rolling his sleeve up. He flexed. "I don't think you are anymore."
"Go fuck yourself, Sid." Kristen rolled her eyes. "You've been such an asshole ever since you fucked up with Ainsley."
"Because you're a gem." He huffed.
"I'm not but I'll own up to it!" She yelled, shoving him.
"Relax." He shook his head.
"Grow up, Sidney. You and I both know you're putting on this douchebag act to try and play like you aren't upset about Ainsley not being heartbroken because of you." Kristen spat. She turned to Trista. "And you're just a rebound. If you honestly think Sid has any interest in you, you're dumber than I thought. Try finding someone legal, you fucking ditz."
With that, Kristen stomped up to her room. Sidney stood in shock. Trista rose from the couch and stomped out, not saying a word. He registered everything his sister had just said. She was right. He didn't want Trista. He wanted Ainsley but couldn't have her. He was forcing himself to try and move on by attempting to get back at Ainsley. He dropped onto the couch, taking a deep breath. He needed to get his shit together. He needed to quickly.
