Chapter Twelve

-Katrina-

I had laced up some skates that Uncle Dan had of mine, that I had apparently left in his office a few months ago. The boys were still in the locker room getting their gear on, and I decided that I was going to skate around on the ice for a little bit.

"I didn't know you could skate," I turned around to see Sidney smirking towards me.

"I'm a trainer for a hockey team, you didn't put two and two together," I teased and he smirked and came over towards me. I looked up and smiled at him, he was only a few inches taller than me, even with his skates on. If I didn't have mine on, he would have towered over me.

I heard someone wolf whistle and I looked passed Sidney to see some of the guys skating over towards us on the ice. I shook my head and then saw the boys surrounding me. Sidney was about to say something, but Uncle Dan blew the whistle and practice started. I skated over towards the boards that lead to the bleachers and hopped over them.

I watched the boys practice, and it was interesting. I don't know why I was surprised to see so much passion in one person's face, it was just practice, and it was the same face I saw on every Bruins player, and even my brothers. But watching these boys go, it put a smile on my face.

"So are you going to stay?" Uncle Dan asked as he skated in front of me.

"In Pittsburgh? Most likely."

"What are you gunna do for work?" he asked and I sighed.

"I don't know, I'll find something, I mean I have enough money now-"

"Work with the Penguins."

"What?" I said and saw that he had a smile on his face.

"Come work for the Penguins," he said and I sighed.

"Do you think that's a good idea?" I asked and then looked at him.

"Yes, it is. You know what you're doing, and our guy just retired, we're relying on an intern," Uncle Dan said and then motioned over towards the intern.

"I'll think about it," I said and he nodded his head.

"Maybe you can give that intern some tips," he said and I sighed.

"Does he know what he's doing?"

"Don't know, if he doesn't, then the guys aren't saying anything," Uncle Dan said and I looked over to see that Evgeni Malkin had taken his head helmet off and was rubbing his neck, looking like he was in pain.

"He all right?"

Uncle Dan looked over towards Malkin and sighed, "Geno got slammed into the boards the other game and this is his first practice back."

"Concussion?" I asked and he nodded his head, "He get an MRI?"

"Yeah," Uncle Dan said and then looked at me, "Why?"

I sighed and then shook my head, "I'll take a look at him after practice."

Uncle Dan smirked and then laughed when he saw my shake my head, "You'll like it here, Kat. We're not like those Bruins."

"Don't start with them," I said and then sighed.

"I hear you and Lucic are an item," he said and I looked at him and nodded my head.

"He's good to me."

"To you, or your body?" he asked and my face went red.

"Not you too," I groaned and Uncle Dan showed no sign of teasing on his face. I sighed and then looked at him seriously, "Look, Milan might be frightening on the ice, but he takes care of me off."

Uncle Dan sighed and then shook his head, "Well the sooner you're here, the better."

"Well, I don't know whether to be hurt or offended," I said and then glared at him, "I understand that a lot of people don't like him, but I do, and you should respect that."

"I'm sorry, you're right," he said and I nodded my head. He turned back to his players and then blew the whistle, "All right boys, good practice! Shower and hit the road!" the guys skated over towards the door and Uncle Dan grabbed Malkin, "How are you feelin', Geno?" Malkin looked at me and then back at Uncle Dan and muttered a 'good', "Good, Katrina here is gunna take a look at you."

I politely smiled towards him and then bit my tongue to hold back a laugh when I saw Malkin's face go completely red. He nodded his head nervously and then headed back with the rest of the guys.

"Is he shy?" I asked and Uncle Dan smirked.

"He is, plus he doesn't like to talk much because he has a thick accent," he said and I sighed.

"Where's he from?"

"Russia," Uncle Dan said and I smirked.

"Where's the office?"

"Across from the locker room door," he said and I nodded my head and then changed into my sneakers.

-Sidney-

I looked at Geno confused because he looked nervous, and he kept on tapping his leg and staring at the ground. I patted Marc's shoulder and nudged my head towards Geno, "What's with him?"

"Don't know," he said and then I walked over towards Geno.

"Hey man, what's up?" I asked as I sat across from him and then patted his knee.

"Тренер хочет, Катрина, чтобы посмотреть на меня," he said and I sighed.

"English dude."

"Uh, Coach have niece look at me," he said slowly, trying to make his words understandable.

"Kat?" I said and he nodded his head, "Don't worry about it, you'll be fine."

"She very pretty," he said and I smirked.

"Don't concentrate on that, you'll embarrass yourself then," Kris said as he came over and patted his shoulders while everyone laughed, "Maybe I should fake an injury to get to go to the doctor's office," he said too excitedly.

"Shut up, Kris," I growled and he laughed.

"Just go right in there and grab that ass!" Tyler Kennedy said and I sighed.

"Enough!" we looked over towards Tomas Vokoun to see him looking disgusted, "She's a friend of mine, and our Coach's niece! Not one of your puck bunnies!"

I sighed and then looked over towards Geno, "You'll be fine, G, just calm down."

-Katrina-

I was talking with the intern, he was all right, had some idea of what he was doing, but it was awkward when I used big words and he struggled. There was a knock on the door and I looked to see that Geno was walking in. He muttered something and I smiled softly towards him.

"What?" the intern asked annoyed and I sighed.

"I got this, you got talk to Dan," I said and he nodded his head and then left, "Come on in, Evgeni."

"Uh, Geno," he said and I smiled and nodded my head.

"All right, Geno, hop up onto the table," I said and he nodded his head, "Dan says that you're from Russia," I said and he nodded his head, "Хотите чувствовать себя более комфортно, если бы я говорил как это?" (Would you feel more comfortable if I spoke like this)

He turned around and looked at me shocked and then smiled, "Вы говорить на русском?" (You speak Russian)

"Rosetta Stone в его самом прекрасном!" (Rosetta Stone at its finest) I said and he laughed and I smiled towards him, "Так, ладно, ты где боль?" (So, ok, where are you in pain)

"Моя шея беспокоит меня," (My neck is bothering me) he said as he rubbed the back of his neck and I nodded my head.

"Любая головная боль?" (Any headaches)

"нет," (No) he said and I nodded my head.

"Хорошо, вы можете взять вашу рубашку для меня, пожалуйста?" (Good, can you take your shirt off for me, please)

He shyly nodded his head and then took it off and folded it onto his lap. I placed my hands on his shoulders and tried to kneed the muscles and then heard him sigh and his head plopped down. I smirked and then continued my work.

"Магия пальцев," (Magic fingers) he breathed and I laughed and patted his shoulders.

"Я хочу посмотреть на ваши МРТ лист," (I want to look at your MRI sheet) I said and he nodded his head and I walked over towards his file that the intern had gotten ready for me. I looked at it and then explained to him what I saw, of course in Russian, but he still looked at me confused. I laughed at him and then put the file down and smiled towards him, "Вы собираетесь все будет в порядке, если вы держите вашу игру до минимума, по крайней мере еще неделю." (You're going to be all right if you keep your playing to a minimum for at least another week)

He sighed and then nodded his head, I told him to put his shirt back on and sent him on his way. Once he left the room, Uncle Dan walked in and smirked towards me, "You like it here."

"I'll like it anywhere if I get to do my job."

"So you'll stay?" he asked and I smirked, "I didn't know you spoke Russian."

"Rosetta Stone and a little bit of Alex Ovechkin," I said and Uncle Dan smirked.

"Don't tell Sid that you talk to Ovechkin," he said and I snorted and shook my head.

"Boys and their stupid competitions."
