Chapter Eleven

-Zach-

It was getting pretty late, and I haven't seen Kat since we got home from the lawyer's office. I walked into the living room, because I heard the TV on and saw that Chris was sitting on the couch.

"You see, Kat?" I asked and he turned around and shook his head, "I'm getting worried, I know Uncle Dan saw her before, but he's gone."

"I know she was at the stables, did you look in there?" he asked and I shook my heads, "Well try in there before you have a panic attack."

"I'm not gunna-" the doorbell rang and I was a little confused, "Who's that?" I walked over towards the door and opened it to reveal Captain Canada himself standing on our doorstep, "Crosby? What are you doing here?"

"Is Katrina here?" he asked and I sighed.

"Your guess is as good as mine," I said and he looked confused, "We're trying to find her."

"You want any help?" he asked and I was a little surprised.

'...Freaking Katrina always having guys after her...' I thought as I sighed, "Why not, come on."

Crosby walked into the house and I saw Chris wave of towards him, "Hey man!"

"Hey," Crosby said and then we walked to the back door and outside, "Where are we going?"

"The stables," I said and then pointed over towards the barn.

"I didn't know you had horses," he said and I nodded my head.

"Kat's over there a lot," I answered as I opened the doors to see that the lights were on, but she wasn't there.

"Where is she?" he asked as I walked in and looked around.

"Balto's gone, so she's probably out riding," I said and he sighed, "We'll go find her."

"I don't know how to ride a horse," he said and I nodded my head.

"We're not," I said and then walked out of the barn and headed over towards the garage next to it. I opened the door and smirked when we saw all of the motorcycles, quads, and mountain bikes, "Pick your weapon."

I watched as Crosby walked over towards one of the quads and I walked to my mountain bike. I started mine up and then rode out of the garage and Sidney was right behind me.

"Where are we going?" he asked because there were two different paths.

"You take one and I'll take the other," I said and he nodded his head and we were off.

-Katrina-

I sat on the large boulder and wiped my tear stained cheeks as I read the note from my parents. I felt like a horrible daughter and they were giving me so much, they were giving me things that I didn't deserve. I barely saw them or talked to them, and yet they still thought of me as their precious princess. They were proud of me and were never angry with me that I completely disregarded my family to fulfill my dreams.

My mom had given the land to me, to do with what I wanted with it, the horses, the house, the property, everything. Money was no problem, I had plenty of it, and my parents had given me a good sum too, it was enough to keep everything in order.

I felt Balto nudging his head against my shoulder and I looked up at my black quarter horse and rubbed his neck. I heard a quad coming down the path and I held onto his reins so he wouldn't run. I was a little surprised when I saw Sidney Crosby stop on the quad and looked at me.

"Your brother's looking for you," he said and I looked at him.

"What?" I asked still shocked to see him here.

"You brother, Zach, he's looking for you," he said and then got off of the quad and walked over towards me, "What are you doing out here?"

"Reading," I said as I held up my parents letter.

"May I?" he asked as he held out his hand towards the empty space next to me.

I smiled softly and nodded my head, "Sure."

He sat down next to me and then looked at Balto, "He's beautiful."

"This is Balto, he's my horse," I said and he nodded his head.

"What's that?" he asked and I looked to see that he was looking at the box in-between us.

"My parents' will for me," I said and then sighed.

"I'm sorry," he said and I nodded my head.

"Thanks."

"So what are you gunna do?" he asked and I looked at him to see that he was staring at me.

I was a little stunned at how he was staring at me, there was so much emotion into that stare, and I only met him two days ago, "I don't know," I managed to croak out and then placed the letter back into the box.

"It'll be all right, Katrina," he said and I gave a small smile and nodded my head.

"I know, it's just gunna take some time," I said and then stood up, "We'd better get back."

Sidney stood up and nodded his head, "Yeah, your brother's probably worried."

"That's Zach, always the worrier," I laughed and then felt Balto take a step closer to me, "Oh and Sidney."

"Yeah?"

"It's Kat, call me Kat," I said and he nodded his head, "So uh- Did my brother call you or something?"

He looked at me confused and then his eyes widened, "Oh," he laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head, "No, I almost forgot. I came over to ask you if you wanted to come to practice tomorrow."

I looked at him and saw the nervous smile on his face, "I'd love to," I said and he nodded his head.

"Great, practice starts at ten," he said and I nodded my head.

"I'll be there," I said and then walked over towards Balto's side and hopped up, "You ready to head back?"

"Yeah," he said and then jumped back onto the quad and started it up, "I could get use to riding this."

I laughed and then gently kicked Balto's sides and he started to move.

-Sidney-

Today was the day that Kat was going to come and see us practice, I was excited to say the least. I had just gotten out of my car and at least half of the boys were in the parking lot just talking. Coach wasn't here yet, so the door was going to be locked. I grabbed my bag out of the trunk of my Rover and then walked over towards the guys.

"Where'd you go last night?" James Neal asked and I smirked.

"He went to get some ass with Coach's niece!" Kris said and I shook my head.

"No I didn't, shut up!" I said and the guys laughed.

We heard a motorcycle and turned around to see one pulling up.

"Who's that?" I heard some of the guys ask and I smirked because I remembered seeing that bike in the garage that Zach and I had gone into.

"No way," I said as I adjusted my bag and walked over towards the bike.

"Holy shit!" I heard the guys say as she took her helmet off and shook her hair. I swear it was like a scene from a movie, a very sexy and slow motion scene.

"Kat?" I said as I walked over towards her.

"Hey," she said as she saw me and I smirked, "My truck's in Boston, so I had to take my bike."

"Nice ride," I said and she smirked.

I heard footsteps behind me and knew that they guys were coming over, which they did, and they attacked her with questions. Kat laughed and got off of the bike and I smirked when I saw her wearing skinny jeans with a white old AC/DC shirt, and a leather jacket over it.

'...God damn, she's gorgeous...'

"Katrina?" we all turned around to see Coach walking over and he smirked, "What are you doing here?"

"Came to see your team," she said and I smirked.

"Crosby got to you, didn't he?" Coach asked and I laughed and shrugged my shoulders.

"Guilty."

"All right, come on," Coach said as he walked over towards the door and unlocked it.

We walked into the arena and then headed over towards the locker room and got changed into our practice gear while Kat and Coach walked over towards the ice.
