No Sense of Direction 021:

Chapter Twenty One

I followed Kat into her office and saw that she had papers everywhere, "Holy papers."

"Yeah," she laughed and I smirked towards her and walked next to her, "These guys had nothing organized."

"Yeah, they could never find anything," I said and she nodded her head.

"I'll fix this," she said and I smirked and nodded my head.

"I'm sure you will."

"So, if you beat Tampa Bay, you guys go against my brother," she said and then I looked towards her to see that she had hopped onto the table and was looking me, "You think you can handle it?"

I laughed and walked over towards her, "We're more than ready!" I said as I stood in front of her and saw the ring on her left finger, "So he really did it?" I asked, more telling myself as I picked up her hand and looked at the ring, '...Definitely real...'

"Yeah," she said and then took her hand back and I caught the way that she had answered that and looked at her strangely.

'...No excitement, shouldn't a person be excited to be engaged?...' I thought as I look at her healed wrist that was bruised only a few weeks ago.

"Sidney," she said and I looked at her, "Whatever this is, it can't happen," Kat said and I looked into her eyes trying understand what she was trying to say.

'...Does she know that I like her?...' I thought as my eyes never left hers, '...Take it slow, you don't want to scare her off...'

"Sid," she said, since I never answered her.

"I know," I said and looked down. I felt her hand on my arm and I looked at her and I couldn't help but want to kiss her, but I didn't. She's obviously going through something with Lucic and I didn't want to do anything to make it worse. Kris had told me what she had said to Zach, and that gave me hope, it gave hope when she said that she didn't want to marry Milan Lucic, "You and Lucic, I know."

-Katrina-

Why was it that every time I looked into his eyes, I found myself getting lost in them. He was close to me and I couldn't help but want to reach out and press my lips to him, but then I remember about Milan, and I stop myself. There was a knock at the door and Sidney backed away, just in time for Uncle Dan to walk into the room and look at us.

"Katrina, I want you to look at Martin again, it's his back," Uncle Dan said and I nodded my head, "Crosby, suit up."

"Yes Coach," Sidney said and then looked at me and walked out of the room.

When I was by myself, I let out a breath that I didn't realize I had been holding in, '...Why can't I think straight when I'm around him?...'

I hopped off of the table and started to work on organizing more of the files, when the door opened and there was a knock. I turned around and saw Paul Martin walk in and I smiled.

"Hey Kat."

"Hey sweetie."

"Any more threesomes?" he teased and I smirked and shook my head.

"You're not gunna let that go, are you?"

"Not a chance in hell," he laughed and I shook my head.

"All right, hop onto the table. Where are you in pain?"

-Sidney-

"So did you throw her onto the table and like have your way with her?" Tyler asked and I shook my head as all the guys looked at me.

"What kind of guy do you take me for?" I asked trying to get them to realize that I wasn't them and Kat wasn't a normal puck bunny.

"Whatever man, all you have to do is go up to her, grab that crazy hot ass of hers and-"

"I know you're not talking about my niece, Letang," I smirked as I saw Coach walk in and glare at Kris, "So this is what you do when you're supposed to be changing?" he asked and when no one said anything he growled, "Get to the ice!"

I've never changed into my practice gear so fast in my life, I don't think anyone in that room had. But we were in our gear and out onto the ice before Coach blew the whistle. We surrounded him and he said that we're doing suicides until he said to stop, '...Thanks a lot, Kris...' I thought knowing that we were only doing this because of what Kris was saying.

-Katrina-

I walked out of the office, after being in there for almost two hours and decided that I was going to see how the boys were doing, because they should be just about finished with practice. However, when I walked towards the ice, it was like I was seeing the movie Miracle right in front of me. The boys going back and forth and back and forth and all Uncle Dan was saying was 'again, again, again'.

'...What did they do to piss him off?...' I thought as I walked over towards the home bench and leaned against it, "Uncle Dan."

"Again!" he said and then turned around and looked at me.

"Why the suicides?"

"Nothing to worry about," he said and then turned around.

"Uh, it kind of is," I said and he looked at me, "I'm going to be having a line for the doctor's office if you keep this up."

He sighed and then turned back towards the boys and blew his whistle, "Take a break."

I watched as the boys collapsed onto the ice and I looked to see that most of them were breathing heavily. I turned to my side to see the Assistant Coach, "How long have them been going at it?"

"Almost two hours," he said and I sighed.

Uncle Dan walked over towards me and asked how the office was coming along, "It's good, maybe by tomorrow I'll have it all organized for me."

"Good, good," he said and nodded his head.

"So which one of them pissed you off?" I asked and he looked back towards the team.

"It's nothing, Katrina," he said and I smirked and shook my head.

"All right, but if you keep that up, then you're not going to have one hundred percent boys for tomorrow's game," I said and he groaned and blew his whistle.

"Shower up!" he announced and the boys slowly got up and headed off of the ice.

I looked at all of them to see that their faces were red and they were tired, '...Wait ta work them to the bone...' I thought as I watched as the boys all headed towards the locker room.

I shook my head and decided that I was going to work on the office some more and make a list of what I'll have to stock up on because I couldn't find anything, if it was even here. Once I finished with that, I decided that I was going to call it a day and grabbed my jacket and helmet and headed outside.

"Kat!" I turned around and saw Tomas Vokoun walking towards me.

"You look like shit," I laughed as I saw his still red face.

"Coach worked us hard today," he said and I nodded my head.

"I saw that," I said as we walked outside into the warm May air, "Who pissed him off?"

"Don't know, by the time I got there Coach was already ordering the suicides."

"So you were late?"

"I called him yesterday and told him I would be," he said and I walked over towards me bike, "Dagmar didn't feel well and I had to take the kids to school this morning."

"It's Saturday."

"Yeah, they had some kind of fair or- I don't know what it was," he said and I laughed.

"Wait to keep track or you family," I teased and he shook his head.

"Where are you off to?" he asked as I put my helmet on.

"I think I'm gunna go visit my parents," I said and he nodded his head and then patted my back.

"See ya tomorrow, Kat," he said and then waved to me.

I smiled and then waved back and then started my bike and then left the parking lot, driving to the cemetery where my parents are buried.
