No Sense of Direction

Chapter Twenty Two

-Sidney-

"I'm bored," Kris said and I sighed and nodded my head, "Let's go see what Kat is up to?"

"Really?" I asked and shook my head.

"Dude, you're like the only one who knows where she lives," Marc said and I laughed.

It's been a few days and we were all partying away our depression for not making it farther into the playoffs. About half the team was at Marc's house playing some video games because he was lonely since Vero was away.

"Why don't we go see what she's up to?" Tyler asked and I looked at him and sighed.

"You guys are pathetic," I said and then looked up to see them looking at me, "Fine we'll go see her!"

Most of the guys were sticking around for a while, put some of them were leaving soon or had already left. I know Geno was leaving to go back to Russia in a few days, Marc and Vero were going to go up North for a little while, Kris was going on a fishing trip with some of the other guys, and I was going to leave in like a month to spend some time back in Halifax.

So here we are, hopping into my Rover and Marc's Suburban and heading over towards Kat's home. I made sure that Marc followed me, and I didn't lose him. We pulled up in front of Kat's house and her gate to the driveway was opened so we pulled in.

"Whoa, it's like a freaking castle," Tyler said and I laughed because it was a big house that rested on the edge of Pittsburgh, actually, I didn't know if you considered this to be Pittsburgh, this might be the next town.

"Where is she?" Kris asked as we all got out of the cars.

I heard a dirt bike and looked to see that Chris was coming our way, but when he saw us he stopped and took his helmet off, "Hey guys, what's up?"

"Nothing much, wanted to bother Kat," Kris said as he leaned against the car and looked at Kat's younger brother.

"Oh, I think she's in the stables, but I'm heading out, so have fun," he said and then I looked to see that there were some other guys at the bottom of the driveway and Chris put his helmet back on and headed towards them.

"Where are the stables?" Marc asked as he walked up to me.

"Back there," I said and then headed up the path.

"So you've been here before?" Matt asked and I shook my head.

"Once or twice," I said and the guys laughed.

"What in stables?" Geno asked and I looked back towards him.

"Horses," I said and he nodded his head, "Watch where you step, guys," I smirked and then laughed when they all started to check their shoes.

-Katrina-

I was brushing Blaze and trying to calm him down because he was unusually energetic this morning. He kept on jumping up and threatening to hit with his hoof and I was growing frustrated with it. I looked towards his legs and saw that he was holding up is front left leg and I decided to look at his shoe and saw that it needed to be replaced.

"That explains it," I said and then put his leg down and patted his back, "I'll hook you up boy."

I walked into the closet and brought the supplies out and then went to get another shoe, I heard the stall door open and I heard someone yell 'hello'.

"Just a minute!" I yelled and then reacted up to grab the shoe and walked out of the room to see Sidney with Marc, Kris, Tyler, Matt, Geno and James standing there, "Hey guys!"

"Hey!" they said and I walked passed them and headed back over towards Blaze.

"Uh, I suggest you stay back because he gets a little mean when people he doesn't recognize are around," I said and the guys nodded their heads.

It took me a while, and the guys were keeping themselves busy by asking me about the horses during that time period, but I had changed Blazes' show and saw that he was walking on it fine. I untied his rope and then stood in front of him and back him up and looked over towards the guys.

"So what's up?"

"We were bored," Kris said as he turned away from looking at Care-Bear, "Came to bother you."

"And since Sidney was the only one who knew where I lived, of course you had to get him to come along," I teased and they laughed and nodded their heads.

"Sure let's go with that," Marc said as he was petting Lola and then looking at Balto, "Which one is yours?"

"The two in front of you," I said and he nodded his head, "This is Blaze, he was my dad's," I said and Blaze started to move around, clearly uncomfortable by the amount of people here, "The one that Kris is by is Care-Bear, she's my mom's," I said and held onto Blaze's harness and started to pet his neck, "That is Balto," I said while pointing over towards him, "And that's Lola," I explained and the boys nodded their heads, "I need to put them out in the field, so give me a few minutes."

"Sure," Sidney said and I turned around and started to walk Blaze out of the stable and over towards the acre of fenced in grassy land for the horses.

I put Blaze in and watched as he ran off and started to run around. I closed the gate and then walked back into the stables to see that the guys were petting Balto. I walked over towards his stall and opened the door and he walked out and the guys watched as he followed me over towards Lola's stall.

"He follows you?" Tyler asked and I nodded my head.

I opened Lola's door and hook the rope to her harness and walked her out. I tied her up and then walked over towards Care-Bear's stall and did the same with her.

"They're big horses," Matt said and Geno ran his hand along Balto's back.

"He strong horse," Geno said and I laughed.

"Strong like Russian man," I teased and the guys laughed and Geno smirked and shook his head.

"No make fun of Russian," he laughed and I shook my head.

"Never Geno," I said and patted his shoulder.

I grabbed Care-Bear and Lola's ropes and started to walk the two horses down towards the door, "Come on, Balto," I called and then whistled. I heard his hooves trot against the stone floor and knew that he was following me.

I opened the gate and Balto ran in and started to run around and then I unhooked Lola and Care-Bear and watched as they started to run.

“You own a lot more land than I thought.”

I turned around to see that Sidney had said that he and the boys were walking over towards me, “Yeah, we’ve lived here since I could remember.”

“That’s cool,” Marc said and I nodded my head.

“So what are we gunna do?” Tyler asked and I turned around and looked at him.

“Well, I was gunna go riding before you guys showed up, but I don’t have enough horses,” I laughed and the guys shook their heads. I smirked and then walked passed them and motioned for them to follow me, they did and I lead them to the garage where my brothers stored their bikes and quads.

“Whoa!” all the guys, except for Sidney said and I smirked.

“All right,” I said and then walked over towards my hot pink quad, “Pick your poison, boys.”

“This is like candy land!” I heard Matt say and I laughed and started up my quad.

“See ya on the trail, boys!” I said and then headed out of the garage.

Sidney had picked the same quad that he had last time, which was Zach’s, Geno had picked my dad’s quad, Marc and James were in one go kart with Marc driving, while Kris and Tyler were in the other go kart with Kris driving, and Matt was on Zach’s dirt bike.

“Let’s get this party started!” I heard Kris yell and looked back to see that they were all pouring out of the garage with smiles on their faces.

‘…At least they’re not depressed about losing their shot at the cup…’ I thought as I watched as they drove past me and I laughed and followed after them, not having this much fun in a long time.

When we came to the fork in the trail everyone was stopped and looking between the two. I laughed and then cut through the trees and made my way to the front.

“Which one, Kat?” Kris asked and I looked at him.

“Anyone, they all go around our property,” I said and they smirked.

“So cool!” he said and I laughed.

“So much more fun than being at Marc’s house!” I heard James said and then I heard Marc yell a ‘hey’.

“See ya later!” I said and then headed down one path while the guys decided which way they were going to go.
