Fate

Twist of Fate

Walking hand in hand to the departures, Kenzie bit her lip softly as Patrick pulled her along to the check in desk. The two had arrived at the airport early so the two could have all the time they wanted before he had the set off to Sochi. Letting go of her hand, he went through his backpack and took out his passport and boarding information. Kenzie looked around the airport to see Sidney sitting by himself at a bench, his bag beside him on the ground at his feet. Kenzie had yet to know of Sidney's and Autumn's situation because of the amount of endless hours she spent with Pat. She raised an eyebrow as she began to whisper to Pat who was going through his belongings before he checked in.

"Why's Sidney by himself and so early?" She asked as he looked over his shoulder and shrugged, pulling out his papers.
"No clue, he's suppose to be a role model for the boys I guess so maybe coming really early is his way of doing that?" He asked her as she nodded before looking at Pat who smiled at her.

Patrick checked in with his flight that was in five hours, but he didn't need to go through to security for another four. He looked over at Kenzie and took her hand in his again, engulfing her into his side.
"Let's grab some grub." He announced as she nodded with a soft laugh.

The two walked over to a cute little diner as Pat began to speak to the hostess.
"Table for two, please?" He asked as she nodded, grabbing their menu's and guiding them to an empty booth.

Setting the menu's down, Kenzie sat across from Pat as the waitress left. Patrick began searching the menu as Kenzie smiled to herself, thinking of how amazing the past days have been. Going on a few dates here and there, Kenzie was able to fall hard for someone she'd known for so long bet had never met. It was unlike any relationship she'd been in before. She already had strong feelings for Patrick and she didn't know if she wanted to feel how she did due to everything that came with his job. Being brought out of her trace, Kenzie felt Patricks feet rubbing up her calf as he sent her a wink.

"What are you getting?" He asked as she looked down to see something about pancakes and sausage.
"Uh the apple pancakes and the maple sausage? Sounds kinda good.. What about you?" She asked as he bit his lip and read the description of his meal.
"Just getting some eggs and ham." He replied as she smiled, raising an eyebrow.
"Do you like green eggs and ham?" She smirked as his eyes grew wide before giving her a mischievous look.
"I do not like them, Sam I am, I do not like green eggs and ham." He told her as they both began laughing as the waitress came and took their orders.

As the waitress left again and came back with their drinks, Patrick fished for Kenzie's hands and began rubbing them with his thumbs. She blushed softly as she took a sip of her drink, not breaking eye contact with Patrick.

"I can't believe i'm already leaving.." He began as she bit her lip, looking down at their hands.
"I know, it went by too fast." She replied as he sighed softly.
"But hey, we can still talk and go on dates when I'm close right?" He smirked, as she gave an awkward laugh.
"Yeah.." She told him before he raised a brow, questioning her tone.
"What's wrong?" He asked as she sighed.
"I'm not ready to have a long distance relationship or anything along those lines." She told him before he cut in with a soft laugh.
"Why not?" He asked confused.
"I'm just, not ready..." She whispered.

Truthfully, Kenzie had been in a relationship that was long distance before. In her second year of high school, she began dating the star player of the baseball team. The two dated for two months before he began traveling to different states to play the sport. That's when he began going behind her back, hooking up with girls in every city they visited. He would still feed his lies to Kenzie, making her believe he loved her. She had only found out that he cheated on her the night of their prom in grade twelve. She never was so devastated in her life. Embarrassed and heartbroken was what Kenzie felt for months. Because of his wrong-doing, Kenzie's senior year changed her forever. Due to the depression she had, she was unable to focus in school and lead for her to receive rejection letter after rejection letter to the colleges she wanted to go to. Her parents were disappointed in her, and that's when she set off to live in Toronto with her friends, Jordan, Autumn, Keirstyn, Sam, Victoria, and Faith.

Snapping out of her trace, Patrick waved his hands in her face as she shook her head and focused back on Pat.

"S-sorry.." She breathed as Patrick looked at her worrisome.
"What's wrong?" He asked as she bit her lip.
"I just can't be in a long distance relationship." She told him sternly as he nodded, his tone becoming sad.
"Alright, sorry.. Let's just eat, yeah?" He asked as the food was set in front of them.

The two finished their breakfast in an awkward silence as Pat paid the bill. The two began to walk over to the waiting area until Kenzie looked down to see that Patrick had two hours until he had to board his plane. She felt the tension was growing between the two and she didn't want to have it drag on to another fight. She typed a quick message for Faith to pick her up before sliding her phone in her pocket. She stopped as Patrick noticed she wasn't beside him anymore, as he spun around.

"What?" He asked confused as she took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, I just need to go. It was fun, but it can't carry on." She spoke as his face dropped.
"Kenzie please, we can work it out.." He pleaded, taking her hand in his.
"Goodbye Patrick, I wish you the best." She told him before throwing him a sad smile and going on her way out.

Patrick stood there heartbroken as he took a seat. He watched as Kenzie walked out of the airport and down the walkway. He watched her until he couldn't see her anymore. She held back the tears that she was holding in while he tried wiping his away. He couldn't believe this was happening. He couldn't believe that this could happen to him. Kenzie hopped into Faith's car as she explained the whole scenario to her friend. Once she was done, she zoned out while Faith spoke. She looked out the window as she saw planes flying off the runway. Tears slowly fell from her eyes as she thought of how much she was going to miss Patrick, but she knew she couldn't do that again. Meanwhile back at the airport, Patrick had walked through security, still having an inch of hope that she would come back. Taking a final look back at where she walked away from him, he sighed and made his way through. Once he was done, he took a seat in the private waiting area where he spotted Sidney and a few other familiar faces. He wasn't in the mood to talk though. He sat to the side and hid himself from the world with the help of his baseball cap.

Kenzie arrived back at hers and Victoria's place as she came home to find G and Victoria with their luggage at the front door. She gave them soft smiles as Geno held Victoria in his arms. Kenzie felt her stomach sink at their happiness, she could only envy them.

"Aren't you guys going to miss your flight?" Kenzie asked as she walked into the kitchen, digging through the fridge.
"We changed our flight to a later one so we arrive just in time for lunch or something, I don't know." Victoria answered as Geno nodded.
"We should go, Tori." Geno whispered in her ear as she nodded before walking to Kenzie.
"We're gonna get going, I'll call you when we land. I'll miss you.." Victoria told Kenzie who nodded and gave her a tight hug.
"Take good care of her, alright Geno?" Kenzie told Geno who nodded, smiling.
"Okay, m'aam!" He joked as she gave a quick smile before pulling away to see the two take each others hand and set off with their luggage.

Kenzie was alone.

She walked into Victoria's room to see it stripped of everything she owned, because she had it put in storage so Kenzie could find another roommate to help her pay with rent. She heard her phone go off as she let a few tears roll down her cheek because of her best friend leaving. Running to the living room, she picked up the phone and answered it.

"Hello?" She asked, seeing the unknown number.
"Kenz!" An older, yet familiar woman's voice greeted.
"Mom?" Kenzie asked confused, her eyes widening.
"Yes! Kenz we want to make up for everything and want a family vacation. We're heading off to Sochi for the Olympics! Pack your stuff because we leave Tuesday!"
