One Shots

Victoria kicked her feet up onto the coffee table as she scrolled through her twitter feed, she stopped once she noticed she had a direct message from one of her friends, she opened it and looked at the photo that was attached with it. She looked through the list of names; it didn’t take her long to realize it was the Pittsburgh Penguins roster.
Beside their names was a list of wives and girlfriends, she skipped through the names trying to find the only one she truly cared about. She stopped at Evgeni’s name when she found it; she was almost scared to read what was written beside his. She finally gathered up the courage to read it and immediately wished she didn’t after she had.
Unknown girl.
Evgeni was dating someone, after knowing Geno for two years he had kept this a secret from her. How could her own best friend keep this a secret from her? She shook her head trying to stop thinking about all the endless possibilities of who it could be, she didn’t want to be upset. She wanted to be happy for Geno, he had found himself a girlfriend, but she couldn’t be happy, because it wasn’t her.
She slid on her jacket and wrapped her favorite red scarf around her neck as she braced herself to go into the cold Pittsburgh air; she grabbed her keys and slid on her black combat boots as she made her way out the door and into her car.
It didn’t take her long to get to Geno’s place, she knew just the right roads to take to avoid traffic, she had texted him prior to getting in the car, she let him know that she was coming over. Not that he could stop her anyways; she really needed to see her best friend. She arrived at Geno’s place in a matter of minutes, she skipped up the stone path to his front door, she knocked on the door before entering. She smiled as she saw his dog running towards her, she sat on the floor and as she played with his dog.
“Tori!” Geno shouted as he saw her, he walked down the stairs towards her; she got up from the ground as he approached her and gave her a tight hug.
“I’ve missed you.” She smiled as she hugged him tightly; he had just gotten back from the few games he played on the west coast, she hadn’t had a chance to see him last night due to work.
“I miss too, I have surprise for you,” He pulled away from the hug and jogged upstairs, Victoria climbed the staircase admiring the view of Geno, “Don’t look at butt!” He teased.
“You caught me.” Victoria laughed as she entered his room, Geno walked over to his suitcase that still needed to be unpacked; he searched through it trying to find her surprise.
He got it out of his suitcase and hid it behind his back as he walked over to her; he towered over her with a grin on his face, Victoria pouted at Geno as he hid the surprise, the anxiety of knowing what it was was starting to get to her.
“Show me!” She whined as she tried to reach for it, he moved it away from her still blocking her view from it, she crossed her arms fed up with his tricks.
“Ready?” He asked, she nodded her head excitedly, he held out the small bag in his hand and extended it to her, she grabbed it with her own before he had a chance to take it away.
She opened the bag and let the item fall out into her palm, she grabbed the charm from her hand and smiled as she looked at it, it was a music note, she had wanted this charm for months but was never able to find it in stores.
“Where’d you find it?” She asked as she gave him a tight hug thanking him for the charm she had wanted so badly.
“Store in California.” He grinned happy that she enjoyed the gift, she thanked him again as he helped her add the charm to her bracelet she wore with her everywhere.
Geno had given her most of the charms on her bracelet; he gave her the snowflake for the first Christmas they spent together, he gave her the charm with the letter V on it for her birthday, he gave her a charm with a maple leaf on it when she first began to feel home sick, and he had also given her the penguin charm so she had a piece of him everywhere she went.
She smiled to herself as she admired the new charm on her wrist, “One more surprise.” He smiled as he went back to his suitcase; he pulled out a DVD and showed it to her, it was her favorite movie.
“We’re going to watch this right now.” She grabbed the DVD from him and shoved him onto the bed; she put the disc in the DVD player and climbed onto the bed beside Geno as she skipped threw the previews.
“Why you like Captain America much?” He asked, as the movie started.
“Because he and the movie is amazing.” She answered with a smile on her face, she had watched Captain America many times and it never got boring for her.

She had gotten through half the movie when realization struck; she hadn’t asked him about the unknown girl, it was the reason she came here. She thought about the many ways to bring it up casually, she didn’t want Geno to think she was one of the crazy jealous best friends. She would be happy for Geno regardless of the fact that she wished it could be her in this unknown girl’s position.
“Geno?” Victoria mumbled breaking the silence, he looked over at her and smiled, “Do you like anyone?” She asked.
“I like you.” He answered confused; Victoria shook her head laughing to play it off.
“No I meant like as in more than a friend.” She explained shyly, Geno nodded his head understanding.
“There one girl, I like.” He smiled as he thought about her.
“Tell me about her.” Victoria faked a smile as she felt her heart break, deep down she was hoping this unknown girl rumor was exactly that, a rumor.
“It’s secret. She no feel same way about me.” He sighed.
“How could she not? You’re an amazing guy G. You’re so sweet, caring, funny, and you’re quite the looker.” She teased as she pinched his cheeks.
He began to blush at her words, he grabbed her hands from his cheeks and held them in his own, he stared at her for a few seconds before pressing his lips to hers. He grabbed her waist lifting her onto his lap as he deepened the kiss, she ran her hands through his messy hair as their lips moved in sync, she had been waiting for this moment the moment she met Geno.
He pulled away breathless and stared at her, “You. I like you.” He spoke as he pressed his lips back to hers.
“I..like..you..too.” She spoke in between kisses.
Geno rolled over now hovering above her, he looked into her eyes as she lay under him, he had wanted to confess how much he’s liked her since the day he met her.
“I love you.” He confessed.
“I love you too. Now shut up and kiss me.” She demanded as she grabbed his face and pressed her lips to his.
