When the Night Finds the Morning

Till Closing

Jamie walked up to Keltie and hugged her, lifting her off the ground in his arms. She let out a laugh then he places her back on her feet.

"Well that was quite a hello."

Jamie laughed and wrapped his arm her waist, pulling her into his side.

Keltie looked over at Ivan who just had his eyebrows raised and a "I told you so" look on his face. Looking from Ivan up to Jamie she saw he was watching the TV screen above them.

"Um, Jamie,"

He looked down from the TV to her and smiled again, flashing his adorable dimples. Keltie smiled back then looked over at Ivan who was still standing there waiting to be noticed by the two on the other side of the bar.

"Jamie, this is my favorite co-worker in the whole wide world, Ivan. Ivan this is my very good friend, Jamie."

Jamie held out his hand and Ivan put down a glass and reached for his hand, taking Jamie's hand in his for a handshake. When Ivan had Jamie's hand, he looked into his eyes and gave him a look that an older brother would give a boy his sister brought home.

"So, Jamie Benn, what will it be?"

Ivan asked grabbing another pint glass from underneath the bar and placing it in front of him.

"Whatever."

Jamie said and sat down on an empty stool near him, taking Keltie with him. Letting out a laugh Keltie tried to break free from Jaime's grasp.

"Jamie I have to work."

"Well when do you get off?"

Keltie looked up at Jamie and smiled when she saw his big brown eyes.

"At closing, so you have time cowboy."

She told him, Jamie smiled and get go of her. Keltie rolled her eyes and walked away from him to her section of tables.

She walked pasted Sully's table and he called her over but she walked on seeing that more customers needed her help. She came up to a table that had an older couple sitting at it with their menus closed and to the side.

"Have you decided?"

Keltie asked with a smile on her face as she walked up to them.

"Yes, I believe we have. I'll have the oysters platter."

The older man said with a smile on his face As he said so. Keltie pulled out her order notebook and black pen and quickly started writing down their order.

"Oyster platter... And you ma'am?"

"And I'll have the prime rib."

Keltie mumbled the order under her breath as she wrote it down.

"I'll go put that in right away. Do you want me to top off any of your drinks?"

"No, we're fine."

Keltie nodded and hurried off to the kitchen to drop off their order.
As she walked over to the bar she saw that Ivan and Jamie were talking about something. She walked over and wrapped her arms around Jamie from behind.

"What's going on you two?"

She asked placing her chin on Jamie's right shoulder. Jamie laughed and looked up at the TV at the same time as Keltie did. The score was now 2-1, Colorado.

"Who scored?"

"Landeskog, Duchene, and Getzlaf."

"Ew, Getzlaf."

"That's my new teammate you know."

"I don't care. So is Duchene. Why wasn't MacKinnon picked for the team? I mean come on, the kid a natural. He could outshine Crosby any day."

"Well is that so?"

"Yes, that's what I believe. You got a problem with Benny boy?"

She said with a laugh as she kisses his cheek and then sat down at the empty stool next to him.

"So, you're going to the Olympics, with special access"

Ivan said pointing at Jamie. Keltie smiled and rolled her eyes at her co- worker.

"Come on, Kells. You aren't going to use Jamie to your advantage?"

Jamie looked over at Keltie and waited for her answer as did Ivan.

"Well, if I get to met Landeskog or Selanne, I mean."

"Oh, my God. You are unbelievable Kells."

Ivan said covering his face with his hand.

"What? Landeskog is a living, breathing Disney prince! He's gorgeous!"

She told them with a smile. She looked over at Jamie who was rolling his eyes as well.

"I mean I see the appeal of him, but come on, isn't he a little young?"

"Excuse me for finding a younger man attractive. I mean it's not like men ever go for women younger than themselves. For the record, Jamie, you're little teammate Nichushkin, fine as fuck, FYI."

Keltie said acting like she was angry and headed off to her section, leaving Ivan and Jamie laughing behind her.

This continued for another hour or so. Keltie would be in her section making sure everything was good, then she'd go back to the bar with Ivan and Jamie. The Avalanche beat the Ducks, 5-2. Goals by Landeskog, Duchene, MacKinnon, O'Reilly, Talbot, and the final goal another by the young Swedish captain.

After about twenty minutes after Jamie came into the bar patrons were piecing together who Jamie was. You can't be selected for the Team Canada roster and expect not to be noticed in a Canadian sports bar. Jamie met his fair share of fans, fishermen, and women while he sat at the bar. He got plenty of "Good luck" and "Bringing home the gold!" from everyone he met that night.

When the last patron went out the doors Keltie quickly locked the front doors with a relieved sigh.

"That's the last of 'em."

"What about Chubbs?"

Ivan asked as he put up a set of chair around one of the many tables. Keltie looked at the bar and saw that Jamie was sitting in the same bar stool he first sat in, but now he was facing out, looking at Keltie.

"If you stay here, you better earn your keep, ya hear?"

She said walking to the closest table to her and started putting up the chairs around it.

"Yes ma'am."

Jamie hopped off his stool and walked to the table closest table to him and copied Ivan and Keltie's movements. Within 15 minutes all the chairs were up and the three were at the bar.

"To record timing."

Ivan said holding up a bottle of Selemen's. Jamie and Keltie did the same with there bottles. The glass clinked together, then were brought down and all three of them took a drink.

Keltie get out a long "Ahhhhhh." When she brought her lips away from the bottle.

"That was well dissevered."

"How much did you make in tips?"

Ivan asked when he finished his first drink. Katie looked down at the money that she spread out in front of her on the bar. She counted it one last time in her head and smiled.

"$315. Boom. I always know Sully's good for something."

Ivan smiled and high fived his co- worker.

"Who's Sully?"

Jamie asked placing his bottle between his large hands on the bar as he looked over at Ivan and Keltie.

"Sully's a fishermen on one of the boats in the marina. He's had a crush on our little Keltie for... how long has it been?"

"Too damn long."

Keltie told them as she took another long drink of her ale. Both Ivan and Jamie laughed, thenIvan continued with explaining who Sully was.

"Well, almost every night Kells is in here working, you'd be damned not to see Sully at a table asking her out. He does thing every single time she's at his table, she gives the same answer every time, 'no'."

"Why don't you file a complaint?"

"On what? A drunk regular who tips me like I'm a queen and asks me out every time his in here. He tipped me $95 tonight, at the end of the day Sully isn't so bad."

She said with a laugh. She leaned to her right so that her head was resting on Jamie's side. Jamie looked down of a quick second and smiled at her action.

"How about you finish up you drink and head home, Kells. You got a big couple of days a head of you."

Ivan said after he took a drink. Keltie smiled and nodded. She finished her drink and gave it to Ivan. She walked over to the staff area and grabbed her light Canucks zip up and her purse. She waited at the bar for Jamie to finish his drink. When he was done they said their goodbyes to Ivan then headed out into the night.

"Good luck out there Jamie, don't disappoint, I want see that gold medal when you come back."

"Will do, Ivan. Will do."

Jamie's said as he walked with Keltie out the door of the marina pub. Jamie and Keltie walked side by side up towards the Island Highway. Keltie looked up at the sky seeing that there wasn't a cloud for miles, the stars were so bright out here. Not a big city for about 45 kilometers. Jamie looked over at her to see her looking straight up and he did the same. He was a bit taken back on how many stars you could see. He was so used to what he saw in Dallas that he forgot what it was like out here on the island.

"It's beautiful."

Keltie said stopping to look up and star gaze. Jamie did the same but looked down at her.

"It is something isn't it."

Keltie's blue eyes looked down from the stars to Jamie.

"Come here, Jelly."

She said holding out her arms. He sctuked over to her. Keltie's fingers wrapped themselves in her sweatshirt fabric and turned him around so his back was to her.

"What are you-"

Just then Keltie jumped onto Jamie's back and wrapped her hands around his neck.

"On words, Chubbs!"

Jamie laughed and did as he was asked and started walking up the small hill with Keltie on his back.

"I haven't said this before but, I've missed you."

"I've missed you too, Peanut. I'm sorry I haven't seen you in a few years."

"I get it. You've been busy making Dallas a bomb ass team. No need for apologizing, I understand."

Jamie smiled and did a little hop in his step making Keltie jump and let out a shriek of terror.

"Don't do that!"

"What? This?"

He did it again and she let out another shirk.

"Jamie!"

He did it yet again and Keltie almost fell off. They were now standing at the traffic light and they were alone for the time being. Keltie tried to get down herself but Jamie wouldn't allow it.

"If you were four feet tall you could possibly get down."

"Well if you weren't a giant!"

Keltie said then Jamie let his hands drop and Keltie fell from his back and landed on her two feet.

"You such an ass."

She said as she hit his back. Jamie turned around with a devilish smirk on his face. Keltie let out another small shirk when she saw Jamie's face. She looked around for somewhere to run and hide from him and saw the hill across the small patch of road. She booked it from Jamie's side and ran for the grassy hill. Jamie was close behind her, but what could you expect from a top athlete.

"Come and get me!"

She yelled back at Jamie when she got onto the grass. She made the mistake of stopping for a split second, she let out a scream when Jamie's arms wrapped around her. She kicked and wiggled as much as she could making Jamie fall to the grass and Keltie landing onto of him.

"Get go!"

"Now why would I such a terrible thing like that?"

Jamie said as Keltie continued to try and break free. He chuckled and rolled his body so that Keltie now had her back on the grass and he was on top of her.

"Keep this in mind, Kells. I can deadlift four of you."

Keltie laughed and looked up at Jamie's darken face. Even in this light she could make out his face. She stopped trying to break free, she didn't want to now. She wanted to stay in this position as long as Jamie would let her.

"Jamie?"

"Yeah, Keltie?"

This was one of the first times Jamie has used her full name in the whole time they've been together. Her cheeks darken and she was glad that Jamie couldn't see that.

"I've missed you."

Jamie let out a small chuckle and Keltie felt Jamie's face moving closer to hers. Almost all of her air was now stuck in her lungs, she couldn't breath. Was Jamie about to kiss her? Or was this some cruel suck joke of his?

"I've missed you too."

He was now inches away from her face, she could feel it. On the inside Keltie was coming unglued. If Jamie was going to kiss her it could be either because he had too much to drink and wasn't thinking or that Ivan was right and the crush was two sided and he liked her too.

"God, Kells. You have no idea how much I've missed you."

"Show me."

Keltie told him with a devilish look on her face that Jamie couldn't see, but knew it was on her face.

"You have no idea how it felt to see Jordie with you when I couldn't."

Jamie said as his lips hit the skin of her neck. Keltie shuttered at his touch.

"I couldn't help myself. When you two went to the Stampede, I wanted to rip his head off."

Ketlie whispered his name, but it came off more of a whimper. Jamie growled at her and nuzzled his face in her neck.

"Jamie. Please."

She bagged realizing that they were a few feet away from the highway and that he was somewhat drunk.

"Oh, come on Kells. I know you like me."

"Jamie, please stop."

Jamie removed his face from her body and looked to where he knew her eyes were. I knew what he was doing was wrong and that he should stop, but what he said was true. He did feel the pain of jealousy when his brother would spend time with over the three years they have been apart. Jamie had no excuse for not seeing her. He felt that I'd he saw her he'd never want to go back to Dallas again, he'd stay on the island with her. He'd drop everything to be with her. And the more time he spent around the more he knew this to be true. Now for sure he knew that bringing her to Sochi was dangerous.

"Let's get you home Jamie."

Keltie said sitting up. Jamie flopped over onto the grass and just looked up at the stars, while Keltie got up and dusted herself off. Once she was ready to go she helped Jamie up off the ground and wrapped her arm around his middle as the walked back to her home. Standing at her front door she had Jamie sit at the little picnic table that was off to the side of the house. Unlocking the door she got Jamie and helped him inside. They walked to her room and she got him laying down on the bed, she went to his feet and took off his shoes.

"Lay down with me."

"You know I can't. Goodnight Jamie."

She told him as she grabbed a change of clothes from her dresser then she left her bedroom. Walking down the hall to the bathroom she let out a sigh. She wanted things to go a whole different way right now. She wanted to be under Jamie as he undressed her and kissed her neck. But she knew that it was not the place nor time for that.

Keltie changed out of her work clothes and into her pajamas, white short shorts with monkeys all over them and a pain black short sleeve shirt that much had belonged to an ex boyfriend. When she was washed up and ready for bed she exited the bathroom and opened a closet across the hall, grabbing two pillows the she walked down the hall to the living room. Laying the pillows down she opened a wooden chest that sat next to the sofa and grabbed a few blankets out of it. With the blankets in hand she flopped down onto the sofa and closed her eyes, quickly falling asleep.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Jamie get something fell on him, then it happened again. He tossed and turned in the bed he found himself in and pulled the blanket over his head. More stuff kept piling on him. Opening his eyes he saw that he wasn't alone in Keltie's room. She was in the room and was throwing clothes on him.

"Hey, stop it."

Jamie said moving more of the blanket over his face.

"If you want me to come along with you to Russia, I need to do this."

Sitting up in bed Jamie saw that she was packing her clothes. She was throwing clothes on Jamie and there was a medium sized Nike duffle bag near his feet.

"Why don't you just fold them and put them in the bag?"

"How else am I going to get you up?"

She said with a smile then returned to looking through her dresser. Jamie sat up in bed and rested his head against the wall behind him. He had a perfect view of Keltie. She was dressed in tight Lululemon yoga pants that covered all of her legs and loose fitting baby blue shirt. Her hair was still straighten but put up in a high ponytail.

She got a handful of different colour fabrics and placed them in the bag. Jamie tried to look at what she put in there but she moved her bag out of the way. She then started grabbing the clothes that she threw on Jamie, folded them and placing them in the bag.

"What time is it?"

"Around 10:30."

"We should get going to the mainland around noon."

"The next ferry leaves at 1:30. We should head to Nanaimo in about an hour. We need to make sure we're on that ferry."

"Will you be ready by then?"

Keltie let out a fake laugh and continued to pack.

"You don't need to pack this."

Jamie said picking up her Shannon Szabados Olympic jersey from 2010.

"And why not? She's amazing!"

"You'll have my jersey, and I want you wearing that to every game."

"Um, you think I'm just going to your games? What about the women? And curling? And snowboarding? And... what else is during the Olympics? Well, anyways I'm going to go to all of that."

"You have fun with that."

"What you won't be joining me?"

"I'd thought you'd never ask."

Keltie smiled and folded the jersey, putting it into the bag. Slowly the pile of clothes started to get smaller and smaller, until she packed the last pair of pants. Jamie still sat in her bed and under her blankets.

"Aren't you going to get breakfast?"

"Not hungry."

Rolling her eyes Keltie zipped up the bag and placed it on the floor.

"Well, come on Jamie. We have a big day ahead of us."

She said pulling off the blankets as she walked by and out of the room. Jamie got out of bed with a smile.

I could get used to this.

Jamie thought to himself as he stretched out his arms.

He thought to himself a morning in Dallas with her. He'd wake up with her by this side. They'd fool around maybe a little bit before getting up to make breakfast. When they'd be in the kitchen Keltie would be in one of his shirts, the bottom on the fabric covering her ass just enough so when she moves he'd see the bottom of it. He'd be in a pair of his boxers. They'd be helping each other make all kinds of breakfast like food bacon, eggs, French toast, waffles, you name it they'd make it. As they cooked they'd steal kisses every so often. Maybe he'd walked up to her from behind, started kissing her neck, then lift her up onto the counter. Then Jordie would come in and tell them to get a room. Keltie would say some kind of comeback, then the three of them would sit down and eat breakfast together. Him and Jordie would get ready for practice, while he got his things ready to go Keltie would stand by and watch. When he was ready to go she's stand by the door and would give him a kiss goodbye. Everyday he'd be in Dallas, same thing.

Yeah, that's something I could get used to.

Jamie thought to himself as he walked down the hallway to the kitchen. When he got there he saw Keltie standing there with a bag of Tim Horton's. A large smile formed on Jamie face and his taste buds watered when he saw the bag.

"Thought you'd miss it."

Keltie said with a smile, she walked over to the high dinning room table and placed the bag down. Jamie hurried over and opened the bag. Keltie's dog hurried over and rushed under the table, waiting for food to be dropped.

Keltie came over to the table and sat down next to Jamie in the same spot that Hank was the night before at dinner.

"Where is everyone?"

"They went out with Andrea's mom for a Coasto run. And my dad is at work."

Jamie nodded and took one of the two large cups of coffee. Keltie began taking out little pastry bags from the big bag and placed them on the table.

"What's your dog's name?"

"Price."

"As in Carey Price?"

"Yes. Dad wouldn't let me name him Tuukka."

"Tuukka. Really?"

"Yes, I may hate Boston with all of my being, but that stop me from loving Tuukk. He's an amazing goalie, you can't deny that fact."

"He is a good goalie. But of all the goalies you picked Price?"

"I'll let him know that when we get to Russia."

Jamie laughed and took a drink of his coffee, closing his eyes in delight when the coffee hot his taste buds.

"Never gets old."

"No it does not."

Keltie said with a laugh as she picked up her breakfast sandwich.

"So, what's it like to be apart of Team Canada?"

"Why do you want to talk about this now?"

"Talking about the Winter Olympics with a future Canadian Olympian over Timmy's? What more could this moment need?"

Jamie laughed as he grabbed his own sandwich.

"It's an honor, I mean-"

"Jamie it's me, not an interviewer with a camera crew."

Jamie smiled and looked over at Keltie, who had a smile all her own on her face.

"Fuck, I almost cried when I got the phone call. I mean I wasn't even invited to the orientation camp. Then they call me saying they want me on the team. I was an emotional wreck. I get to play along Crosby and Toews. Come on, I never dreamed this would happen. The first thing I wanted to do was call you, but I called my mom. Then I had the idea of being you along with me, and here I am."

Kite smiled and looked at her food. Trying to make sure that Jamie wouldn't see the blush that had risen to her cheeks. That she was the first thought when he got picked for the team.

"Jamie, why are you trying to do to me?"

She asked looking up at him. Jamie smiled and took another sip of his coffee.

"I don't know what you mean, Peanut."
