Reunited

Two

"Well well well look what the cat dragged in!" Andy said as Shea walked into his shop. Andy was a long time family friend of the Crosby's, and they had met at a dinner party. She needed a job, and Andy needed someone to sharpen skates. And since Sid had taught Shea the perfect way to sharpen skates, so she was a ringer for the job, "So I'm gonna guess that since you just got out of college, you're poor because you spent all you're money on delicious alcohol and you're going to use me to pay for you're childish tendencies."

Shea hadn't even thought about the money to be honest. While she was looking for jobs in the states she needed something to do for the summer. And swimming and drinking and partying wasn't exactly her thing. So she had immediately thought of Andy. She had worked for him all four years of high school, and during the summers. She had honestly been the only person he missed talking to everyday while she was at school.

"Or you need somewhere to hide out from you know who?"

Shea had been lost in thought and hadn't answered Andy, but he knew her like the back of his hand. He had been the one Shea had come crying to when Sidney had left, the one who had wiped her tears. If Andy wasn't at least thirty years older than Shea, she would've asked him to marry her, but it would have been illegal at them time.

"The latter andy, but I'll never admit it" Shea said finally being able to look Andy in the eyes since she first walked in.

"Well you can hide out here all you want, and you can start now," Andy said handing Shea a pair of very dull skates.

Shea chuckled to herself before saying, "God I really missed you Andy," before getting to work.

It was like riding a bicycle. Shea had walked into the back turned on the machine and just started sharpening. She guessed she had Sid to thank for that.

And yet it was the second that Shea started thinking of Sidney that she heard the bell at the door ring, signaling that someone had walked into the shop. Shea waited a minute to see if Andy was gonna go out, or if helping the customers would be part of her hiding out. Since she hadn't heard Andy's voice yet, Shea trudged out to the front wondering what townsperson she would have to deal with on her first day back. But the minute she saw the hair under the Pittsburgh Penguins hat, she immediately ran behind the counter, ducking before he turned to look her.

But there was some God that was unhappy with Shea for ignoring Sidney because in the midst of running behind the desk, she had nudged a pair of skates and they came toppling over onto her head, "shit," she cursed before slapping a hand over her mouth. She heard footsteps walk her way before she saw Sid lean over the counter.

"Well hiding behind a desk so she doesn't have to see me, you have reached an all new low," Sidney chuckled before walking around to offer her a hand up.

She declined, helping herself up, before saying, "Looks like you and me have a problem with doing shady things to each other." Sidney looked disappointed at what Shea had just said, but it was the look on his face that had felt like a kick to the stomach. It was a look of guilt. It looked like for a minute he actually felt bad for just leaving her, but all that aside Shea looked at him questioningly wondering why he was here, "I was looking for Andy."

Shea nodded her head before yelling Andy's name. He walked out from behind the wall where his office. He looked as if he had been listening to Sidney and Shea stumble headfirst into what he had hoped would be love, but seeing them now it looked to be more like hatred, at least coming from Shea.

"Two of my favorite people coming home the same summer, is this fate or what?"

Shea just looked at Andy, raising both her eyebrows with her mouth straight. But Sidney was still looking at Sidney. It was the first time he had seen her up close and personal in four years. She still looked as amazing as she had four years ago, just more grown up, more hurt, she looked as if she had gone through every experience you possibly could in college. He wished he could ask her about it, she could tell him stories, he could tell her funny locker room things, it would be like it was four years ago. But Sidney quickly realized that it was now, he was engaged, she hated his guts, and he had been staring at her for longer than he cared to admit.

"So Sid what can I get ya?" Andy said noticing that Sidney hadn't been paying attention to anything him and Shea had been talking about.

"Actually I just came in here to invite you personally to my parents dinner party. Dad was too busy watching hockey and mom already started getting things prepared. It's tomorrow but you know her, she wants to out show the new neighbors. So they sent their slave," Sidney said playing with the laces of the skates on the front desk at the time. Andy was laughing nodding his head, fully understanding why the Crosby's were having yet another dinner party.

"Well I haven't had your moms famous chocolate cake in too long, and they haven't had a dinner party in a while so count me in. Formal or can I wear the usual?" Andy said pointing at his Samuelson's Skate Shop tshirt, and old worn down jeans. Sidney laughed, scratching at the back of his neck he added, "I told ya Andy mom wants to impress the new neighbors, she kind of hopes they'll move back to Toronto, so she told me to tell you specifically that the usual outfit is not chocolate cake worthy."

Shea laughed. Sidney shot his head towards her, she put her hand in front of her mouth and then looked at Andy, "I'll help you Andy, don't worry."

Sidney's mom had given him specific instructions to invite Andy and a few other people, but she had been so adamant on inviting Shea that she was waving her knife around and Sidney was actually scared she might stab him if he came home and with the words "Shea said no" in his mouth. So he turned to Shea and said, "actually you're invited too Shea, mom said no party if Shea doesn't come."

Shea looked away from Andy and towards Sidney, he had a hopeful glint in his eye, one she had come to love. She wanted to see it more often so she said, "Well I don't want the people of Cole Harbour to stand with pitchforks and flames in my yard because they didn't get to eat Trina's food so count me in."

Sidney smiled, his wide eyed, ear to ear smile that had gotten the city of Pittsburgh to fall in love with him, it wasn't the only thing that had fallen in love with him.

Andy looked between the two, smiling at each other before he said, "So it's a date," clapping his hands together.

Sidney smiled at Shea one more time, while moving towards the door, "It's a date."
