*Ding*

"Hi, uhm, could I speak to the manager please?" I asked as politely as I could.

"Sure, I'll go get him." The girl replied with a smile, she looked to be about my age, maybe I could make a new friend. She walked behind the counter and through a door. I realized I was awkwardly standing in the middle of the isle, so I set my stuff down and sat on a stool facing the kitchen. I was in a little diner looking for a job-I needed one ASAP.

The door opened and a man came out, he was probably a few years older than me, maybe 28. "Hi, how may I help you?"

"Hi, I uh, was wondering if you were looking to hire anyone at the moment? I've worked as a waitress before at multiple restaurants and I just really need a job and I'll work really hard-"

He chuckled, "What's you're name?"

"Paige McCormick."

"Paige, my name's Jay. Where have you worked before?" He seemed nice, hopefully nice enough to give me a job.

"I've worked at Kelsey's, Montana's, and The Keg." He smirked, and said "Well Paige, when can you start?"

"Preferably as soon as possible, please."

"Eager beaver, alright, you can start tomorrow. Be here by 6am, we open at 7am." He started to walk towards the kitchen.

"Uhm, Jay?" He turned to look at me and lifted his chin, "do you know somewhere I could stay? Maybe like a really cheap motel?"

He stopped for a second and put his index finger up, signalling to give him a minute. He went to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later.

"This is Meredith, she works here too, and she needs a roommate."

Meredith smiled at me and said hello.

"Perfect, are you okay with that?" I asked her. She nodded at me. "Of course! I was just about to head out, care to join me?"

So far everyone here was so friendly, something I wasn't used to. "Yeah, I'll just grab my things. Thank you Jay, for everything."

He smiled, "Not a problem Paige. See you ladies tomorrow" We both waved a goodbye and started out the door.

"So, tell me something about yourself, what brought you here?" Meredith asked me.

I chuckled, I would start with the 'get to know me' part, not so much the 'why I'm here' part.

"Well, I'm 24, I'm from Hamilton, I love photography, and I'll let you know why I'm here when I figure it out."
She smiled. "What about you?" I asked her.

"I'm 24 as well, and I'm from here, well, not here here. I lived in a smaller part of Toronto, but I always used to come downtown, so I decided to move here. I went to the diner once for breakfast and ended up getting a job. Worked there ever since," I liked Meredith, she was nice, my age, and there was no denying she was gorgeous. Hopefully she liked me, it would be nice to have someone to talk to.

We continued walking and talking for a little over 10 minutes, "Well, we're here." She pointed towards an apartment we were coming up to. We walked inside and got into an elevator. Soon enough we were inside her apartment. It wasn't big, but it was cozy.

"The guest bedroom is just over in that room. I'm gonna head to bed, I'll see you in the morning." I smiled and said goodnight as well. Once I was in the guest bedroom, I dropped my stuff on the floor and collapsed on the bed.

"God I hope I'm not making a mistake."
