You Belong Here

*One Week Later*

Just over a week ago I was stuck on a bus to a place I thought was terrifying, and now I'm working here and actually enjoying it. I've had to conceal my bruises with makeup so that no one asked questions, but At least I was away from him-from everyone. The more I thought about it, the more upset I got, so I focused my energy on working. This morning was as usual as every other. Me and Meredith got to the diner at 6am and it opened at 6:30. (It opened weekdays at 6:30am and weekends at 7am) It was small, but cozy. I like it here.

*Tyler's POV*
Practice today was hard, we have a game against Boston tonight at the ACC, so Carlyle was pushing us hard. As everyone in the locker room filed out, I got a ride with Phil. We got into the car and he suggested we go out and grab lunch.

"Alright, where do you want to go?" I asked.

"Hm." He thought for a second "There's this place on Queen St I went to when my sister visited, it has pretty good food."

"Alright, just hurry up I'd like to actually sleep before the game tonight."

"Alright alright I'm hurrying."

We drove for another couple minutes when Phil pulled up to the sidewalk beside a small place that read Queen St Diner. Me and Phil got out of the car and walked up and pulled open the door. *Ding* A girl about our age came up to us and greeted us. She walked us over to a booth and sat us down, and left us with our menus.

A few minutes later, a different girl came to our table.

"Alright, but you'll have to make me a cup of that too!" She yelled to someone in the kitchen, while walking towards us. She reached our table, and looked up from the ground.

"Hi, my name is Paige, what can I get for you?"

She had light brown hair and crystal clear green eyes. I could already tell she was quite a bit shorter than me, but she had muscle on her. She was gorgeous, there was no denying that.

"And for you?"

I realized that Phil had already ordered and she was waiting for me to speak. I quickly looked down at the menu and picked the pancakes and sausage, mostly because it was the first thing I saw.

"Great, I'll get those for you ASAP." She told us, and walked away.

"Dude, could you try to keep it in your pants?" Phil said looking at me.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He laughed. "Oh c'mon, you were practically drooling."

I scoffed, "Shut up" I said with a smirk.

A few minutes later she came back with our drinks, then with our food. Phil had been talking but I was oblivious to what he was saying. We ate making small talk, and suddenly, it was time to leave. I decided that if I wanted to see Paige again, I'd have to do something bold. She came over with the check, and Phil put in his half, while I took the receipt, wrote my name and number on it, and put down a $50 for her tip. Phil was smirking the whole time. We got up, grabbed our coats, and walked out into the brisk air. I made sure to walk a little slower to the car.

*Paige's POV*

When I returned to the table, they were just leaving. I gathered the dishes and the check, then realized what was laying on it. I almost dropped everything when I ran outside towards the 2 guys I just served.

"Hey!" I yelled at them.

They both turned around. When I was closer, I continued talking.

"Thank you, but this is too much." I shoved the bill back into the darker haired one's hands.

"Seriously it's fine. Take it, you deserve it." He said winking at me before turning around and climbing into their car.

I was in a state of awe before I turned around and walked back to the restaurant, and went to the booth they were sitting at. I looked at the receipt, and realized a name and number were written on it.

I chuckled. "Tyler.."

I suddenly realized who they were.

"Did I actually just serve Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak?"
