'There is so much snow outside. This is ridiculous.' Katie says as she looks out the window.

'I know, they said over 15" is expected overnight. The commute tomorrow is going to be disgusting'

'Do you think they will close schools?'

'Oh I'm sure! Are you going to go to work tomorrow?'

'I’ll have to see how if the T is running because I’m not digging my car out. Plus I only work until 4. What about you?' Katie asks.

'I have class until 3, then I'm not sure about work. If they need me, they'll let me know.'

'I hope you don't have to go in.' Katie says while crossing her fingers.

'I know! But when I come back we can do a movie night!' I tell her as a smile spreads across her face.

'Yes! Let's do it!' She says as she claps her hands in excitement.

Buzz. Buzz.

I wake up around 5:30 am when I heard my phone vibrating on the table.

'Attention students and staff,

Due to the weather conditions, our campus is closed today.

Thank you.'

YES! Day made!

I fell back asleep. I wake up when Katie walks in my room.

'Your classes are canceled!'

'I know!! They sent a text at freaking 5:30 am!' I put my head in my pillow.

'Are you going to work?' I ask.

'No, they called me earlier! I'm so glad I don't have to shovel my car out. Plus it's still snowing pretty hard.'

I look out my window. It was pretty bad. Nothing was visible.

'I hope they don't call me in today.'

'Maybe they won't! But what about the boys? How are they coming in tonight?'

'The flight is definitely delayed. Or maybe they'll fly in tomorrow morning? Have you talked to Adam? I'm sure they're asleep. It's still early.'

'No, I'll call him now. It might be a little early but oh well' she laughed.

She calls him.

'Babee! Hey! I'm sorry, did I wake you?' She tries to hold in her laugh by covering her mouth with her hand.

'I told you!' I whisper as I try to hold in my laugh.

'Shh, it's okay' she said as she held in her laugh. She took a few breathes and then answered him.

'Aw, I’m sorry! No, yeah I'm good! The reason why I called is because everything is pretty much closed here because of the storm. Have they said anything about when you guys are flying in?'

Nod.

'Oh okay. Let me know when you know for sure. I'll let you go back to bed.'

Nod.

'Love you too' as she hangs up the phone.

'Well they haven't canceled their flight yet, I guess they are playing it by ear. He'll let me know when they know for sure.'

'Okay. You hungry?'

'Aren't you going back to bed?'

'No! I'm awake now, you know I can't fall back asleep once I'm awake.'

'My bad. You know I wake up mad early.'

'Mad early...really?' I said as I got out of bed.

'Don't hate.'

'Oh-kay! I'm going to make breakfast. You coming homie?'

'Fo-shoh'

I couldn't keep in my laugh! This girl kills me. I push her to the side as I head towards the kitchen.

'Hash browns, eggs and sausages?' I ask.

'Yes! I'll set the table!'

'Thank you!'

After we ate, we caught up on some of our shows. The boys said that they were coming back home tonight, it might be a little late due to the storm. They were flying back from St. Louis.

Ring. Ring.

'Hello?'

'Hi! Uh of course, what time?'

'Alright, You're welcome. No, don’t worry about it. It's okay, really.'

‘See you in a bit. Bye!’

I hung up and look at Katie.

'Did they just call you in?!'

'Yeah. Everyone called out and she has no one. I felt bad.'

'How are you going to get there? The T is running so slow.'

'Walk? It's like 25 min. Ugh! I have to change.’

I bundled up and put on my snow boots and headed out the door. As I step out, my face immediately froze. The snow had stopped but the cold air was so crisp, it felt like it was cutting into my flesh. There weren't a lot of people on the road, a few brave ones were driving. The sun was out and not a single cloud was visible in the sky. Lovely day...minus all this snow.

I head into work and the line was huge. After an hour or so it started dying out. I was only scheduled to work from 4 til close. The hours were dragging, and all I wanted was to go home.

'Emma, you can go home. We're going to close soon because I don’t think many people are going to come in at this hour and I don't want to keep you here any longer. Thank you for coming in. I greatly appreciate it!' My pharmacist says as she puts her hand on my shoulder.

'Are you sure? I can stay a little longer.'

She nods. ‘I’m sure’

'Okay, thank you.' As I head into the break room, take off my white coat and put on my boots.

It was crazy that it was only 8 and it's pitch black out.

'Coming home now! Get some hot cocoa ready for meh please!' I text Katie.

'Yay! Already on it! :) '

I put my phone in my pocket.

There was no one on the street, which is what I was expecting because it should be illegal for anyone to be out in this weather. Most of the streets weren't plowed especially these small hidden streets that I was taking as a short cut.

As I turn the street, I step on some ice and start to fall backwards on my bum. Thankfully there was a lot of snow to 'catch' my fall.

Ouch.

'Are you okay there miss?' I hear a man call from behind me.

'Uh yeah I'm fine, thank you.'

Before I know it, this man is standing in front of me, offering me his hand.

Might as well. I don't want to come off as rude. Big mistake.

I look up and I can't see his face. Everything from the darkness, the weak street light, his huge jacket, made it impossible for me to see anything.

'Thank you.' As I get up and wipe my pants to shake the excess snow. I continue,

‘Thanks again, have a nice night’ I say as I try to walk away. He grabs my arm, and spins me around to face him.

‘What are you-’ I could not comprehend what was happening.

I stare at his face. That face. His smile looked familiar.

'Remember me? Of course you do.' He said with a smile on his face, as he pinned me against the wall as his hand gripped my mouth.
